enigma-2 Posted yesterday at 02:50 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 02:50 AM The radio FM circuits work above FM quieting, resulting in no static. If you're getting static, its either durme to a very weak FM signal being transmitted (<60db) or poorly built cables inducing static from a loose connection. (My money is on the transmitter.( Try tuning mid FM band. As for losing disk 4 and 5, I'd suspect that they were copied incorrectly. Sync 4 is an excellent system. The result was the same as with the flash drive. It played tracks 1,2,3m then jumped over 4 and went to 5. Obviously there is something amiss with the ID tags. I didn't check to see if ie would play all the discs or not...........that point be moot. I believe that the MP3 player will play all the tracks and discs in order, so I'll connect the audio out to USB when my cable arrives today. This will be the last gasp attempt for using MP3...except for the FM adapter... I don't know what MP3 player you are using but I have six Apple iPod Nanos and an iPod touch in my car and all play albums and playlists in the correct order. Sync also allows you to over-ride it and shuffle them, if that's what you want. Maybe the problem is the version of Sync you have? I have Sync 3 in my 2018 Edge which works ok with iPod Nanos and Touches but not with the iPod Classic, which worked fine with Sync 2 in my Ford Mondeo, so maybe Fords are abandoning support altogether? Ronno6 Posted yesterday at 12:08 PM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 12:08 PM Hi, Pete, I have tried a Sansa Clip+, another cheap player from Azamon, and a 2 different flash drives. When connected to the USB port, they all mis-played the same. However, both MP3 players will play tracks and discs properly thru headphones. The SYNC4 would start playing without any command, and all devices would begin playing the same audio book, even tho it is way down on the list. I'm sure that the main problem resides with the ID tags. I do not know how to manage those. When I attempted to move books from my PC to itunes, the 5 disc book only transferred the first 3 discs.. Maybe I can rip the CD's to itunes, then copy to my iphone........
Ronno6 Posted yesterday at 04:13 PM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 04:13 PM I wonder......... Mr Pete may have given me a clue... Would an Ipod nano or other model play using the AppleCarPlay in the SNC4? I copied a disc to itunes, then downloaded onto a flash drive....same problems play 1,2,3. jump to 5, then play 5,6,7, skip 8...... I can sync that to my iphone and see if that works.... Ronno6 Posted yesterday at 06:31 PM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 06:31 PM AHA !! I have identified 1 anomaly with playing the MP3 tracks. The audio book in question has 5 discs............disc 1,2,and 3 have author name and book title. Discs 4 and 5 are listed as "Unknown Artist" That screws things up alphabetically....... Even tho I had named the individual discs, I did not rename the tracks...... I am ripping to Apple itunes in an effort to copy to my iphone. The itunes lists the author and book name for disc 4, and 5 Maybe it is grabbing the metadata automatically?? Hoping that'll work.......... Ronno6 Posted yesterday at 09:38 PM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 09:38 PM (edited) Looks like the FM Modulator thingy is gonna be the ticket. Once I backed out of the garage the static abated greatly. 87.9 is a clear frequency country-wide. As long as there aren't stations on 88.1 it shouldn't see any interference. The modulator only has about 2hrs run time, so I need to get a suitable power cord. I would prefer to plug it in at the power-only ports at the rear of the console, which I believe are USB-C and the FM unit is mini-USB..........geeeeeeeeeezzzzzzz..... Apparently loading the discs onto the iphone requires Apple Music, another $11.00/month....... no, thank you... Ronno6
All this would be unnecessary if there is a CD player that interface with the Edge SYNC 4 hardware..... I tried one initially, but the Edge would not recognize it.........
enigma-2
These CD players will plug into a Ford Sync-4 USB data port and allow control of the music through the steering wheel buttons. https://share.google/JOUVRO9schVqQ83QI https://share.google/AUDZbBsW9GuaHvLTa https://share.google/bQStB1tuNWteplWQJ After you plug it in, tap "Audio" on the Sync 4 screen, select "Sources" and choose the "USB" to begin playback. Allow approximately 30 seconds for the system to index the CD before trying to navigate tracks. Finally, make certain that you plug the player into a USB port which is not power only. (Certain USB ports in your Sync 4 are power only and do not support a data connection. Owners manual will show which. Believe that they have special markings to tell you power only.) . Ronno6
Thank you. Only the 3rd link would come up. The other 2 gave me the following: The page isn’t redirecting properly Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies. I was unable to open in Google Chrome also... Ronno6
At the risk of speaking too soon........... Itunes seems to be doing the job of ripping the CD's and moving to a USB thumb drive. Tracks and discs are playing in order... The acid test is being copied now... a book w/10 discs. Hopefully, disc 10 will not play immediately after disc 1... I believe itunes is labeling them 01, 02 etc.......
Ronno6
I have ripped and copied 2 AB to a flash drive, with different results. The first book has 5 discs, and they all went into the same folder. I can start at D-01 T-01 and play continuously thru to the last track on the last disc. Dunno haw I did that. It is kinda nice... The second one copied each disc to a separate folder..... That one will play all the way thru Disc 1, but not move on to disc 2 automatically........ Sometimes, If I play the last track on a disc, and open the Edge menu and tap "Play All" it will move onto the next disc. Most times, it cycles back to the first AB, D-10, T-01....... I have a difficult time dealing with inconsistency... I guess I will just have to advance to the next disc manually....
