Mileage Storage?

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum. My 2009 has an instrument cluster that fails to light on occasion and have been told I need a new one. My question is will the vehicle read the mileage of a cluster I buy for it or will it need to go to the dealership to be reprogrammed? How will they put the correct mileage in? Sorry if this is a dumb question but Ford wants a crapload for a new cluster and I found one on Ebay for a fraction of the price....Please help if you can.

The dealer needs to download the mileage from the old one and upload it to the new one. Otherwise you'll get beeps when in reverse or when you exceed a certain speed (at least that's what happened on a Lincoln LS). Should only take 1/2 hour of labor.

Wouldn't it be covered under warranty?
