Engine Whir

My 2010 Edge FWD SEL has a very annoying engine whir. It sounds like the alternator or a belt tensioner is on steroids. The noise increases with engine RPM, with the AC on or off. It is definitely engine-related. THIS IS NOT THE FUEL PUMP. At 5,000 miles, I took it to the Authorized Ford Dealer where the Certified Ford Service Adviser winced when he heard it. He said “It should not do that.” Four hours later, the Certified Ford Service Adviser called to say . . . . . No Problem Found . . . . That’s Normal . . . . They All Do That . . . . Don’t Worry About It. He wouldn’t accept the argument that the noise itself is the problem. Before I take it to another Certified Ford Service Adviser at another Authorized Ford Dealer, can anyone tell me if they have experienced the same problem and how it was addressed? I’m also wondering if those of you who don’t have the normal annoying engine whir feel somehow cheated.

No whir noise from my engine, ask the service adviser to start other 2010 on the lot and listen if they do the same.
