FWD or AWD in California

I am about to purchase an Edge SEL in Southern California. I go skiing 2 to 3 times per year (mammoth, Big Bear, etc). Should I get AWD? Putting the few times I may not have to put on chains aside, is there any other benefit of AWD in terms of handling that would make it a better and/or safer ride in SoCal? Thanks for the input.

I'm in the same situation, so I'd love to hear what you have chosen.

I'm going to go with the AWD---I'm tired of putting on cables to go to Mammoth or even Big Bear when we have a good snow.

The FWD will require chains/cables when CHP is stopping those people from going up the mountain!
