Hello Forum;

I just joined as a new mwmber as we (my wife and I) have purchased a new Ford Edge Limited on Staurday, April 2nd.

I could not pass up the deal they offered for my wife's 2004 Jeep Cherokee.

It booked at 7800 and they gave us 10500 plus another 2500 in other Ford incentives,

Her SUV has 92k on it and I was anxious to trade in before it reached 100k.

It was a great vehicle, but very bad gas mileage. It was rated 16 to 20 mpg when new.

However, we never got better than 16 mpg, even living in Elma where the street lights and stop signs are few and far between.

I'm 57 years old and have been a Chevy fan all of my life. This is our FIRST FORD.

In the first couple of days I'm impressed thus far.

I'm hopfule to learn a lot from this form as I love working on cars.

I have my own toy which is an 87 Monte Carlo SS with 54k original miles. Blah Blah Blah... you probably have no interest here.

My immediate interest in this form is to find out any thing regarding maintenance, performance, parts and or repair suggestions.

I have done maintenance on all of our cars over my many long years.

I've been to a dealer only one time in all these years due to an electrical issue I could not resolve myself.

Enough about me... going into the forum to check our your posts.

Thanks.

Welcome

You will love your new Edge. I had both a 1985 and then a 1986 black Monte SS back in the day. Loved the cars and had a lot of fun with them. My 85 went back to the dealer because of bad paint so I upgraded to the '86. Only changes were the wheels, mirrors, and radio

Have fun with your new ride

Welcome to the board. I will warn you that it is a bit lacking in activity currently. But DIY types as yourself might help build a following.

This is my first Ford as well. I'll be honest, and say that I was an Anti Ford guy previously due to my ownership of a Pre-Ford Volvo. But I'm also very open minded (especially as of late) and have been quite impressed with what Alan Mulally has been able to accomplish.

This new Edge, to me, symbolizes Ford's new direction and commitment to bring us great products.

BTW, let's see pics of the SS and the Edge!

Thanks for your reply...

I'll try to get some pic's out... soon for the Edge (Candy Red) and later for the SS (under cover and stored for the winter).

I see what you mean regarding lo activity... I'm sure it will move faster as time goes on and more people join.

When I was paer of the Monte Carlo SS Forum, I could not keep up with all the activity... no less than 50 - 100 replies per day...

I put the car on blocks and stored for a few years to get 2 of 3 kids through college... Now the last child is in his 2nd year.

I was not happy with the new Chevy's offered this year and saw the Edge and found I was impressed.

Beats buying a Japanese car... Oh yeah, the Jeeps are now owned by Pougot... While still built in the USA, money goes to France.

But, my disappointment as noted in my first post was the gas mileage and no deals, even thought I baught our last Jeep from them.

Their loss in my opinion.

Regarding your Tech Interest... FYI - I'm a manager in Information Technology for a large bank.

Talk to you later.
