Push VButton Start Issue

Recommended Posts

Lately, and randomly, theres been an issue with the starter on my 2011 LTD with drivers entry. You are supposed to get in, press the brake, and hit the start button....well randomly, the brake has been "locked" and unable to push down to start. This happens randomly and im forced to get out of the car, lock the doors, remote start the vehicle, and get in and go (pushing the brake and hitting the button). Turning the car off after that will allow me to start it from inside fine....anyone having these issues where the brake will not go down and the car cant be started?

I get issues with the brake being hard if I happened to depress the brake with the engine off. But that usually doesn't stop the car from knowing I have a foot on the brake. Maybe your brake pedal position sensor is not properly calibrated.

Check to see how far you have to push it before 1) the brake light illuminate and 2) when the shift lock relay clicks open.
