  1. I am just guessing, but what I suspect is you have not paired you cell phone to the car. You can refer to your manual and it should give you instructions. I am familiar with how to do it on the 11 model with my touch, but not on the 10., but I expect there is a somewhat obvious button to press to pair a new phone. When you press the phone button now and get the no phone message is there not a option to add device or add phone?
  2. I have not yet had a chance to use this, but I think another feature that is incorporated into this is the collision avoidance. I did have that kick in on me and I did not have cruise set. I was driving along and the car in front was turning right. I braked down to where I needed to be, and then let it coast based on the turn speed of car in front I was fine, but I guess the sensors felt I was approaching the car and did not have brakes going it needed to warn me. Don't remember anything audible, but I remember the red lights in the window coming on.
  3. good choice for new column, yes Winter is approaching and I also have been thinking about some snow tires this year. Actually I would probably be fine without them, but they would provide better service and also save wear on the Michelin AS tires. I guess by splitting the wear the cost comes down over long run One thing I am undecided on is whether or not to get new rims for them or just change the tires on the rims that came with the vehicle. Separate rims would sure make it a lot easier, but not sure I want to chunk out that kind of money because I want them to look nice.
  4. Thanks again Canuck. I guess I should get my act together and order some things online, but any of the "over the counter" you can half recommend?
  5. thanks Canuck, the last one I tried and at least like the look and it was less greasy was ICE by Turtle wax. Any idea if that is solvent or water based?
  6. I just love mine, comfortable seating, good amount of room, handles great and lots of techy features. I have had the problem with the flashers also, drove all the way home from the dealer with them on because I had not yet seen how to turn on or off. The problem is caused from resting your palm just below the screen when playing with the controls. Just have to break the habit of resting your palm there.
  7. Strongly agree, also let's not forget the potentially strongest safety factor a vehicle has.............the skill of the driver.

    EPA MPG

Just curious if you are resetting the MPG average with each fill up or are you calculating manually. Also, how heavy your foot is has a lot to do with the mileage you get. I am at around 20 (based on the gauge), still first tank though but that is all around town and just plain running to play with things.
  9. that is good to know, because except when backing into a spot, I don't monitor the side mirrors backing out of a spot
  10. Good Question, didn't know the answer but found it in manual. BLIS? and/or CTA fault operation If the BLIS? and/or CTA senses a fault on either the left or right sensor, the BLIS? alert indicator will go on and remain on and the message center will display BLIND SPOT SYSTEM FAULT or CROSS TRAFFIC SYSTEM FAULT. For faults that may cause the associated left or right alert indicator not to illuminate, only the message center faults will occur.
  11. anyone have any experience with the feature that warns you of approaching vehicles when backing out. Haven't been brave enough to back out in front of anybody to test that
  12. guess I will have to get the manual out again, from reading this when the unlock is pressed it moves to position. How about moving back to aid in getting in and out?? maybe mine is just programmed to go to "my position" when I start the car. I did do programming steps but I just did the press button 1 part when in desired position. so the way mine behaves is that it is all the way back when I get in, pressing start moves it to my position. Turning off car moves it all the way back, to aid getting out. I kind of like it this way. I have a lesser tendency to scuff the door pockets with my feet getting out.
  13. I may bump mine up a little for the reason you state, but the dealer said to "go with door sticker"
  14. 80 and sunny here :shades: Best weather of the Summer this last month or so, we had a cool wet Summer this year.
  15. LOL I have been out of town 2 of the weeks, and I have an old Honda Civic I use as my airport car, so the baby has sat at home pretty much except weekend errands. GLad you have had the opportunity put on the miles and we are all counting on you for the first reports on Winter driving
  16. I have had my 11 Limited since Labor Day, though I only have about 250 miles on it, I have not had a real issues either. Frankly I expect some being that it has a redesigned electrical system and all the touch stuff and sync is new to this model year. A couple of brief things like the nav card became unreadable, but turning off the car and back on seemed to fix it. Sooo much tech stuff to learn, but am comfortable with getting to all required stuff and am really loving it. Fun to drive, rides and handles great. I will admit , at first I was a little overwhelmed with all the electronics, but have become comfortable with it. I would also recommend the car to others. Looking forward to driving move and maybe a trip to the mountains this weekend.
  17. These are several pages in the manual of my 2011 on how to do it. You are supposed to hold the button you want to program at the same time as you press a remote that does work, holding them within 1-3 inches of each other. Now for me that did not work, so had to do what they also suggested in the manual. First I went to website for garage door opener and it did indicate that the opener was compatible with what is in vehicle. What they said was same as manual but that some openers require you put the garage door opener in "learning mod" that required I press a button located (on mine) under the cover that is on opener covering lights. a light will blink and it stays in learning mod for 30 seconds so you have to be kind of quick. You then go back and repeat the process above. Worked first attempt for me
  18. It's exactly what the dealer is supposed to do, but they obviously miss a few things.
  19. My personal preference was the AWD route, more for added Winter traction both snow and ice. But I have a 4 WD also to fall back on if I need it. I have a old Honda Civic that is my "airport" car and that is FWD. I have used it in some pretty nasty Colorado winter weather, and though it will not get me where the 4WD can, it does really well in most of the "sane" driving conditions. I think choff1238 is correct. You will be happy with either choice.
  20. Congratulations on your new ride. I think many of us are new owners of the Edge and sharing the experience both good and bad is interesting.
  21. It's good having you up in Alaska, you can pre-test and report all the cold weather features :D
  22. Congrats on getting your home. Ah, yes kinda sad indeed. Shades of what I have in store in Colorado. Definitely Fallish these days but we are actually now getting some pretty nice weather, about the best of Summer season. Summer was cool here this year until about a month ago. It will be interesting to see how the Edge does in snow.
