  1. Just thought of something. Yes, the vehicle is new, but I always check fluid levels and air pressure in tires. Had a car in past that was really low on oil. The fluid levels in teh Edge were fine, but the tires ranged from 44 pounds to 38. Talked to service and they said "trust the door sticker" which on the 18 inch Michelin Latitudes is 35 lbs..
  2. Heated mirrors are standard I know on the Limited. I imagine if your window sticker mentions it, you have it. BTW, I am sorta of new hear, just got and Edge about 3 weeks ago. Love mine, you have mentioned cold up there, just curious what part of Alaska you live it?
  3. what over the counter product would you recommend then? Keep in mind also that though I love taking care of my vehicles, I do have somewhat limited time to devote to it also. That makes paste waxing harder for me to find time to accomplish.
  4. Looking for opinions on Tire treatments. Have used several in the past. It would be nice to use something that enhanced the black, had some protection qualities and also did not remain greasy. I live semi rural area and have about a 2 block drive on gravel road before pavement. The grease attracts the road dust.
  5. The Edge can have heated seats depending on your option or model package. I believe all Limiteds have heated seats.
  6. This is great having a Pro to ask, when you get your Edge you definitely will be due some paybacks. Canuck, how is the Meguiars NXT Tech Wax 2? Lasts?
  7. I need to get some window deflectors. Besides it aiding the defrost process in the Winter, I use them often in the Summer to leave windows cracked a little when leaving parked. I have them on other vehicles and have always had the stick on that fit just above the window opening. Have seen the WeatherTech though that are in channel. Reading some reviews they sound like they may be a little tricky to install but I am willing to give it a try. Just wondering Pros and Cons of in channel vs. stick on. In channel seems like it may be better??????
  8. ot really sure nut think I did mine after turning on the car, but I do' t think it would really matter.
  9. i still have a 2001 F-350 crew cab diesel, that had some plastic or aluminum piece in the transmission go and the pieces fried the transmission, 400 miles out of warranty and Ford would not cover it. It was also a known issue. So for around $125 in total cost (in 48 month payments) due to reduced interest rate it seemed like a good deal to me to go with the 6 year piece of mind. forgot to say, the re-build cost me $2,500 or so 9 years ago. So I think the answer is to keep saying no, until they make a deal like mine. PS: I am normally not a fan of extended warranties, appliances, cars, etc.
  10. I ended up with the extended service, can't remember the mileage but it was 6 years I think. I said no probably 6 times until he walked out for a moment. When he came back he had offer I could not refuse. He got some ok to bypass the the loan origination fee the dealer gets and they applied that to the cost somehow. I financed about half the purchase price and got 1.9 at local bank of their choice and the extended warranty for 2.50 more a month for 48 months. So that seemed like a pretty good deal. They must make a good amount of money of selling extended service, at least more than the fee the bank pays them. I guess the trick was to keep saying no.
  11. thanks for the replies. Didn't know that about the floor mat hooks, and after looking at and comparing pictures had come to same conclusion on the hood. Mine can with the all weather mats from Ford and yes, I do like them. The only reason I was interested in the WeatherTech liners was that the Ford mats are split on drivers side. Not a big deal in Summer, but I thought the liners would protect better in the Winter and not leak where they are split and also keep liquid from spilling over sides like when the snow and attached crud melts.
  12. well being a Microsoft product reboot often fixes most things. I had mine (2011) comes up with some fault or error message and then unable to read SD card message. I was on my way some where and when I got back in car to return I saw a real quick windows type error message that blipped to quick to read and then it came up with message that I am sure meant re-boot. It was blah blah doing required system update or something close to that. after a few minutes everything worked. Only the Nav unit seemed not to work.
  13. I got on syncmyride.com and there is also software to download that when I ran it did some updates to the iTunes library. it was called syncmyiTunes. This is the description, there are phone and windows versions also. SYNCMyiTunes MAC Client Are you using iTunes with your media player and having trouble indexing your music with SYNC? SYNC My iTunes may be able to help. It's a downloadable software program that corrects common errors in your iTunes music library, so that your music can be indexed by SYNC. If SYNC communicates that it is unable to index all the music on your media player when you plug it into your SYNC-equipped vehicle, then you should run SYNC My iTunes. Click this link to download and use SYNC My iTunes.
  14. how do you check what version of software is installed?
  15. I remember reading that some features are disabled when driving, a safety thing. Though I understand it may be for passenger use, watching a video while driving may be a little distracting.
  16. Got a 2011 Edge a few weeks ago and I am interested in adding some accessories. I know there was a fairly major re-style but was wondering if anyone knew if say WeatherTech Window deflectors, hood protector and floor mats for model year 2010 work on the 2011? I have sent emails to WeatherTech and Auto Anything and have not heard back. The Edge model is not avail when selecting year of 2011 at either website.
  17. You likely know this, but you can program seat position, mirrors etc and press the 1 or 2 button on left side of dash, those are 2 memory positions. You could use 1 for the primary driver and I think it defaults to that when getting in, and set 2 for the other.
  18. Not sure of the format, it was whatever was in iTunes. Some purchased, some ripped. Will have to try the purchased ones to make sure they work, thinking back, I think all I have tried in car were ripped. Not enough time driving and SOOOOO many things to listen to, exploring Sirius also so have not used the USB all that much other than to make sure they played.
  19. I purchased a 2011 Edge Labor Day, I just took my iTunes music folder and dropped/Dragged it to USB Thumb drive I connected to laptop. Pretty much like the Yahoo Answer in above post. It does take up move space than the sum of the music so make sure you get a large enough Thumb Drive. I got 16 gb and it used maybe 10-11 for around 1800 songs, plus cover art, etc. First time you connect the USB it will want to index it and it works fine. I used BT connection from iPhone for a while but that was not nearly as easy to use, especially with voice commands, over BT voice commands did not work.
