  1. Well I don't know what's up with Louisiana, because they are extremely popular. Lots of people have them, and the government/police didn't seem to mind. Our governor just signed a bill that outlawed them and allows police to pull you over and ticket you for them, and it takes effect next week. Maybe they're just starting to enforce it; I'm not sure. But I know that until now HIDs were fine in the state of Louisiana.
  2. I went with the Sport and absolutely love it. I had to sacrifice HIDs, and aftermarket HIDs are illegal in Louisiana, so that's not an option for me. But the regular lights aren't too bad. I also added my own HomeLink garage door opener, since it doesn't come with it. In my opinion, the look of the Sport is worth it. When I park somewhere and walk away, I still turn around just to look at those beautiful 22s and that contrasting black grill (I have the white Sport). Also, regarding the performance numbers of the Sport versus the standard 3.5L models, every review or test I read tested a front wheel drive limited versus an all wheel drive Sport. The all wheel drive system adds a significant amount of weight and friction which will have an impact on performance. MotorTrend rates the FWD Edge SEL at 15.7 quarter mile while Consumer Reports rates the AWD SEL at 16.6. There is some variation between the companies that do the testing, since MotorTrend rates the AWD Sport at 15.9 while Car and Driver says 15.4. Anyway, my point is that if you test an AWD Limited against an AWD Sport, I think the Sport will be ahead. I think the extra horsepower, torque, and displacement more than make up for the extra weight/diameter of the wheel and tire. Living in the south where it snows about once a decade, I have the FWD sport. I have yet to take it to a track to see what it will run, but my brother challenged me in his Honda Accord coupe. The Accord runs a 15.33 in the quarter mile, and my FWD Sport was a car length ahead when I let off at 70 mph. The paddle shifters on the Sport is also a really nice plus.
  3. You may think I'm nuts or that I'm not a "real DIY guy," but the fact of the matter is I'm practically a perfectionist with my car. I did not want to be able to tell in any way that this is not straight from the factory, and I'm pretty sure the only way to make it look exactly like a factory job is to replace the whole visor. I respect that you wanted to inform people of a cheaper option, but you don't have to undermine me.
  4. The best way to answer this question is to say I can't tell it's not straight from the factory. It's functioned perfectly since I programmed it to three different doors, there is no interference that I can notice, and the visor lights still work.
  5. Unfortunately I don't have the specific part number, but if you type "visor" in the search field and scroll down some (for me, they're almost at the bottom of the first page), you will see two visors for $311.17. These are the visors that include homelink. The difference is that one is for models with the vista roof, and one is for models without the vista roof (one says "Less sun roof" and one says "with high series open air roof).

  7. That is quite deceiving...but no, that one does not actually have homelink. The one with homelink is going to be ~$310.
  8. +1 It really is ridiculous having a few people with problems take over the forums to the point that all the new posts are about problems. I, like the majority of 2011 Edge owners (yes, I said the majority! The internet blows up and exaggerates everything!) have no problems with MyFord Touch. I love the system and the 2011 Ford Edge. So, having a forum where all I can read about is problems is pointless to me. I haven't been a member long, but even I can remember when this forum was for people to exchange info and advice about the Edge, instead of spam it with their problems and rantings. I do feel sorry for anyone who is having trouble; I also agree that nobody should be having these problems, but I suppose it's the price we pay for being the first adapters of cutting-edge (pun intended) technology. Ford is obviously working on it, and hopefully everyone will love their Edge as much as I do very soon.
  9. Been averaging 21-22 mpg(!!!) going back and forth to work, which is about 50 miles round trip, mixed driving. The computer is usually spot on with my calculations. Couldn't be happier with the fuel economy, for something with 305 horsepower and 22" wheels... I'm taking a road trip in it (about 900 miles round trip) this weekend, so I'm excited to see what it gets then. I'll report back Update: I should mention, this is a FWD Edge Sport, and it's in Louisiana, so no extreme cold or snow.
  10. Congrats! Nice taste :shades: Been having my white sport for a few weeks now. You're going to love it!
  11. Is this an actual software update, or is it just a sort of press release, with Ford finally publicly recognizing the problems with MyFord Touch and confirming that an update is in the works?
  12. A salesperson (not the one I bought from) told me the projector lights in my Edge Sport turn with the wheels (aka. adaptive headlights). I just smiled and nodded... These people really need to get their stuff straight.
  13. To replace a minivan for a family of 5, I'd look at the Flex. Putting 5 in the edge regularly might not be very ideal. My $0.02.
  14. I'm not having any issues. The system restarted once, but that's it. Also, I don't use bluetooth streaming. I have my iPhone connected for calls and an iPod nano connected via USB for music. The touch screen isn't as responsive as it could be, but hopefully that'll be fixed in an update. Overall, I absolutely love the system and my Edge Sport. It's a fine ride!
  15. 3 weeks and 900 miles here, and no issues either. At first the phone was having some trouble, and MFT rebooted once, but everything is perfect now, and I'm averaging 21 mpg(!) in my sport... so happy I gave ford another chance. Absolutely love this car!
  16. You insert the whole IA key fob, not just the blade. There is a slot in the console for the fob
  17. Yeah, we sure are. Hopefully yours will work as well as mine. At any rate, an update really should be coming soon.
  18. Congrats! Looks beautiful!! Enjoy!
  19. That would be great! I am located in the US. I like to keep me vehicles spotless (I'm known on the block as the vehicle perfectionist), although the methods I use to do so would probably make you squirm. I use one bucket, wash with with an old dish towel, dry with an old bath towel, etc. I have recently upgraded to micro-fiber cloths for the detailing, though, although it's usually only to apply a spray on turtle wax... I've never realized how improper my methods are, and it's kind of confusing because it doesn't seem to be doing any harm... Anyways, I'm ready to move on to some higher quality car care products. I don't really think my vehicles need polishing (although I'm probably not qualified to make that judgement), but I think they definitely need a sealant, which I have never used before. An interesting option from Griot is a one-step polish and sealant. So, what do you recommend for me to start upgrading my car care methods? Should I start with a general car care kit, or a sealant kit, etc.? Thanks so much for your help!
  20. Early Christmas present? Welcome & congrats!
  21. Hi Canuck, I'm looking into car care/detailing kits to request one for Christmas :stats: I've seen a lot of praise for Groit's Garage products around the internet, so I was looking at a package like this from them. What do you think of Groit's Garage car care products? Are there any other all-inclusive kits out there you'd recommend? Looking to spend no more than $200. Thanks a lot!
  22. Completely agree. First of all, I love MyFord Touch. Haven't had any serious problems with it at all. Yes, it needs an update, but an update is coming, so... I feel like too many people are ONLY looking at MyFord Touch when looking at the Edge. It's so much more than this great technology... even without MFT it would still be a fantastic crossover. It's beautiful and stylish, very comfortable and roomy, quite, fun to drive, and has lots of fantastic features (vista roof, intelligent access, vision package, ambient lighting, etc.) I really do feel sorry for you if you're holding out simply because of MFT. There's so much to love about the Edge, and the MFT system is going to be updated before long.
  23. I finally posted a DIY for the install. It's over in the Interior section. Click here.
