  1. Look around the forum. This has been answered many times.
  2. I live in the United States (Louisiana) and ordered my Edge on September 20. Still haven't gotten it. I was told 5-6 weeks. It has shipped, and I am expecting it this week. Hopefully I do get it.... Anyway, I read somewhere else on this forum (don't know how credible it is, but I'll pass it on anyway) that there was a problem found in the production and assembly of the MyFord Touch system, and they had to make a change in the production line. Also, any edges that were previously produced but were not shipped yet were held up so the changes could be made on them as well. My edge was built on October 13th and didn't ship until the 27th, a full two weeks later, so this seems very possible. So, you're not the only one whose order is taking too long. However, the dealerships in my area do have lots of edges. One has 17, another has 11, and another has 7 Edges currently on their lots.
  3. Looks fantastic!!! Nice choice! My exact same edge is being delivered this week It's been the longest 7 weeks ever.... Looks like the white sport is getting popular...all the pictures being posted of it are getting me so excited!! I've never seen a white sport yet, so I hope i love it in person as much as I do in the pictures! Good luck, congrats, and enjoy!
  4. As far as I can tell, they do not. You'll just have to make 10 random posts to meet the requirement. He'll be able to tell what you did, so just make sure you follow his rules and read through a few earlier threads to get an idea of how to go about asking...he's been known to get an attitude or flat out refuse people if they make him angry.
  5. The easiest way is to message Ford Customer Service on twitter with your VIN and ask for an update. If you want more detailed info, though, ask Cyberdman on the blue oval forums. http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/forum/80-vehicle-locator-by-ford-employees/ You have to have made 10 posts on that forum though, and make sure you read his rules before you post anything. He's nice if you follow his rules. Rules: http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/41207-attention-for-updates-please-read-me/
  6. AWD is for traction, and for traction alone. Doesn't help the handling unless you're making sudden, quick maneuvers while on the throttle (very rare, usually you would let of the throttle and/or brake in an emergency situation). If you don't get lots of snow and never go off-road, there is no reason for the more expensive, less fuel efficient AWD. The FWD will actually be slightly quicker with less weight, as well as more fuel efficient. Just my $.02 Good luck with your decision BTW, I have a white platinum sport on the way...should be here next week. Nice choice!
  7. Make that triplets! :D My white sport is on the rail car now, making it's way home Should be here next week!!
  8. I placed my order on 9/20/10 for my 2011 Edge Sport, and got my VIN exactly one week later. It was built on the 13th and just shipped out yesterday. So, that doesn't seem right to me. I know I got my VIN a lot sooner than many do, but to have to wait 6 weeks just for a VIN seems very abnormal.
  9. The new MyFord Touch/MyLincoln Touch systems to do not have hard drives built in, so you can't store your CDs on in the vehicle. It does have a CD player though, so you can still listen to your CDs
  10. Mine was built the same day and just shipped today
  11. My salesman is an old friend of mine that I've been dealing with for 20 years now. I tried to sell my trade (2001 Honda Odyssey, 150K miles, excellent condition) privately, but didn't get any good offers after about a month. I decided to take it to the dealer to see what they would give me. After offering me what I thought was an excellent price, I stuck at it and was actually (through some bluffing, etc) was able to get more than I would have gotten privately (keeping in mind that if you sell privately, you still have to pay taxes on that portion of the new car, but if you trade, you don't have to pay taxes on that portion since it's taken off the purchase price directly). That was about two weeks ago, and I'm not expecting my edge for another two weeks. So, I was able to lock in a price. If it makes a difference, I'm getting x-plan pricing through my company, so there are no negotiations on the price of the edge itself - just x-plan minus any incentives at the time of delivery.
  12. There's a whole huge thread entitled something like "Tips and Tricks"... You should check that out...most people probably aren't going to repeat post things in here after they post in there... Just look around some and get acquainted to the forum...there's lots of very useful info but you can't expect it all just to come to you. Anyways, don't mean to come of as unwelcoming or anything, so, welcome to the forum! I've been following it since I ordered my Edge 6 weeks ago and feel like I know so much about my edge, even though I don't even have it yet!
  13. Looks awesome! I have the same exact vehicle on the way...hopefully will be in my driveway in a week or two. I've been thinking about a cold air intake for it...I usually use K&N for that kind of stuff, but they don't have one out for the 2011 sport yet. So, what brand is this? Does it have a nice sound? Thanks for sharing!
  14. Got an update from Cyberdman this morning. Awaiting Shipment - Released Ford Oakville Assembly, ON on Oct-26-2010. ETA TBD This is disappointing...it was built two weeks ago to the day and hasn't shipped yet. I wonder why the twitter guy told me it was "in transit" Hopefully since it was released yesterday it'll ship soon.
  15. This'll be great. Guess I'll have to go make 10 random posts first though...
  16. So basically you're saying the customer service people at twitter know (or are willing to tell you a little more) than my salesman? My salesman is the sales manager of my dealer, so it seems funny to me. He showed me his "daily printout," though, and it does indeed say the car is sitting at the vendor. He says he emailed someone at ford who confirmed it is sitting at the vendor, but he doesn't know why. The twitter people still say "in transit." I tried to get a rail car number from them as well, as my father works at a rail plant and would be able to track the car for me. They told me they "don't have access to that information." Hmph...
  17. Hi! I ordered a platinum white edge sport fwd fully loaded on september 20. Received the vin a week later, order was submitted to the factory on october 5, and has a build date of October 13. The customer service folks on twitter told me as of last wednesday (october 20) it is "in transit" and told me the same today. They say no ETA is available yet. But my dealer tells me it's still sitting at the "sport vendor". I'm a little concerned about this discrepancy. I'm not sure of who to believe, but i hope it hasn't been sitting at the vendor for over a week!
  18. You really have to think about what exactly you want. The sport is really just a limited with some extra...erm...sportiness With the sport you gain things like the bigger engine, true dual exhaust, sport-tuned suspension, big flashy wheels, smoked head/taillights, black grill, ground effects, two-toned seats, etc., but you lose some available function, namely the adaptive cruise control, HID headlights, homelink, towing package, and probably some MPG. So, what's more important to you? Do you want a CUV with a sporty attitude and head-turning looks, or do you want more of a luxurious, slightly more fuel-efficient, and potentially more full featured CUV? All about preference and what exactly you want in the vehicle.
  19. Would this be the right part? I'm assuming HMLK stands for Homelink, but it also says "PASS" which I would assume means it's for the passenger side. Aren't the homelink buttons on the driver side visor? This is the only one I see listed with HMLK...
  20. Has anyone thought about/tried ordering the visor with homelink from the edge limited and installing it in their sport? I've had homelink in my honda for almost 10 years now and don't really want an ugly transmitter hanging from my visor!
  21. In the video of the finalists for Motor Trend's 2011 sport utility of the year, they didn't give too much praise to the edge... The pros: - some said it has "handsome" styling - vast interior improvements - manual mode on transmission On the other hand, they said Sync is not very intuitive and feels like you're going through an automated customer service phone call, noting that you have to go through 4 screens to adjust the traction control (who really adjusts the traction control on a regular basis anyway??) and they also said the braking performance on the Sport is "not good enough" So, what do you guys think of this? Here's the video if you haven't seen it:
  22. Does the sport really have true dual exhaust? The specs page on ford's website says the sport has a specially tuned true dual exhaust, complete with two catalytic converters and everything, as opposed to the "quasi dual exhaust" on the regular 3.5. I didn't think anyone put true dual exhausts on V6s. I thought V6s could only handle catback... That would be really cool though!
  23. On the specs section of the edge website it says the 3.7 in the sport has a "true dual exhaust...with two catalytic coverters" as opposed to the "quasi dual exhaust" in the 3.5. Can anyone verify that is a true dual exhaust, that each cylinder bank has its own system, or is it just a catback system? Thanks!
