  1. Just checked mine, both sides are dead even. I guess I got lucky.
  2. My HID's make the same noise. Even though you don't have HID's, I would bet that Ford is using the same electro-mechanical shutter that they use on the HID's to fully open the aperture behind the lens. The soleniod is what causes the noise on mine.
  3. This is beginning to show all of the elements necessary for a class action. Ford had better start communicating with owners on these issues.
  4. My dealer is a friend, and he said he didn't think that they are put in the online database until the vehicle is built and released for transport.
  5. I just received this very informative response from Ford, to my complaint that Sync does not perform as advertised: Thank you for your email in regards to SYNC. Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. This is a known concern with the My Ford Touch system. Ford is working on this concern. We have no ETA at this time. Sincerely, Ford Motor Company SYNC Support Center
  6. I wish I had found this forum BEFORE I ordered and took delivery on my 2011 Limited. In my State, the Lemon Law can be used if the defect materially affects the operation of the vehicle. Thankfully, Ford included the climate control system in the Sync Cluster*uck. Not being able to use defrosters, heat, etc, qualifies, in my opinion, as "Materially affecting the operation of the vehicle." I'm going to give Ford the benefit of the doubt for now, but if there is not an update to remedy these Sync issues within a reasonable amount of time, Ford will be taking the Edge back.
  7. Same problem here. I am convinced that this system will never perform as advertised.
  8. My 2011 Edge works fine, with the exception of Sync, which is totally unreliable. If I had known how buggy Sync was going to be, I would have purchased something else. Ford should be ashamed of themselves for releasing such a problem laden product.
  9. Worse than that, is cracking a window when it is raining. Water pours into the car. Next time it rains, observe how the water is channeled over the rear view mirrors. Last week, it rained so hard that I couldn't see anything on either rear view mirror, as the rain was channeled over the mirror, and onto the window glass. Not the best water management.
  10. +1 I agree, it will be really nice if they ever fix all of the bugs currently present.
  11. I get the same pop up. totally annoying, but typically Microsoft. At least it doesn't ask "Are you Sure ?"
  12. Ford's lawyers probably mandated that it not automatically close. I guess Ford was too cheap to install a strain gauge to sense obstructions. (hands, feet, etc)
  13. Interesting, can you explain why the oem roof rails won't work with the vista roof? I'd like to put rails on my '11 Edge. Thanks
  14. I'm really surprised that the rocket scientists at Ford marketing decided to not offer HID headlights on the Sport. As much as I wanted the Sport, I bought the Limited, because I wanted HID's. Someone also mentioned that Homelink is also not available on the Sport...WTF ?
  15. Having no luck at the dealer, with respect to programming the LED's to act as daytime running lights, I decided to go the hardware route. I installed a 12 volt DPDT (double pole double throw) relay that activates when the engine is running. Power for this was taken from the engine bay fuse panel. The hot wire to each LED is interrupted, and both the + LED wire and the +12v LED feed are fed to the relay from both left and right. The LED + wires from left and right are connected to the relay wiper. Left & Right +12 v LED feed wires are connected to the Normally closed terminals on the relay, so that when the Edge is off, the LED's operate normally, when doors are locked/unlocked. +12v from the fuse panel is connected to the normally open relay terminals. When the engine is running, the relay energizes, and the LED's are connected to the +12v from the fuse panel. Attached is a basic schematic of how to wire this:
  16. Agreed, I do miss them (had them on my '08 X5), they really do make a difference on curvy roads. Also miss the X5's heated steering wheel, but not enough to pay another $10k for the Lincoln.
  17. I noticed this last night when I was going into the menu last night. "Visualizer" flashed up for a second, then was gone. No clue what it is. This post explains what's going on : http://fordsyncforum.com/index.php?/topic/1281-audio-visualizer-shows-up-in-the-audio-settings-menu/
  18. Copy and paste this URL into Internet Explorer (Does not seem to work in firefox), then, after the "=" sign, type in your VIN. You will get a .pdf of your factory window sticker from Ford. you can then save it for future reference. http://build.lincoln.com/services/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=
  19. This is what is showing up on mine: Sync Version1.3 Confirmed installations BT4T-14D545-BA BT4T-14D546-AD BT4T-14F496-AD BT4T-14F497-AD SYNC compatible software BT4T-14F603-AD Waiting to download 0 items.
  20. Mine has only done this once, so I have have my fingers crossed that this will not be a regular routine. My question is, if it really is updating, where is the update coming from?
  21. I got the black screen, then the "Performing System Maintenance" screen last night.. Mine was built October 28th.
  22. I agree. A lot of sizzle, and no steak. Today, after starting the Edge, the screen went blank, the audio went silent. Then, a Sync by Microsoft logo came up on the screen, followed by "Performing Routine System Maintenance." The status bar was up for about 30 seconds, them the system was back to normal. WTF ? I sure hope that there is a firmware update soon for this system.
