  1. After some trial and error, I found that my ipod will stay charged IF I turn off the Wi-Fi.
  2. I leave my ipod touch plugged into the usb port in my edge all the time. Problem is the battery drains down to nothing, so when I take the ipod out to go to the gym, I have no battery power. Am I doing something wrong? I thought that the usb would charge my ipod. Does that feature only work when the engine is running? Not sure what is causing the battery to drain...perhaps someone could enlighten me?
  3. While I don't have an answer to your question, I do have the EXACT edge that you are looking at. Same color, same everything. So far I absolutely love it. No problems as of yet. By the way, it took my dealer a while to find this car, seems that most have the vista roof, which I did not want.
  4. I should add that I have not paired my blackberry or any other phone to it yet. I'm waiting on my employer to enable bluetooth (security issues) on my blackberry so that I can pair it with my edge. Other than not having a phone paired via bluetooth, everything else seems to work ok. I have navigation, it works great. Love how I can say "I'm hungry" and it will come up with a list of nearby restaurants. I also searched for a car wash when I was out of town. My screen has never gone blank on me, nor is it unreasonably slow. The only thing that I have noticed so far is that I'm not sure if the heated seats work on the low setting. It hasn't been really cold here yet, so it's hard to tell. They work very well on high. and I thought that they should shut off automatically after fifteen minutes, but they don't.
  5. I have a 2011 SEL AWD and have not had any problems so far. I've had it now for about a month, have put about 2000 miles on it.
  6. I haven't bought any yet for my 2011 edge, but for my 2002 durango I bought catch all mats by lund international. I highly recommend them. They are molded to each vehicle. I still have the durango and the carpet underneath the mats looks brand new.
  7. What does this have to do with the original posters problems? There is more than one engineer working on a new release.
  8. I agree. I have not had any problems with my edge. Everything works. Travel link, bluetooth, sync, no problems at all. I am a very satisfied customer.
  9. So, coming from years of driving v-8's to my edge with its v-6 I was a bit concerned about how she would handle when passing another vehicle. Today I found out that my edge has no problem passing. Passed a slow moving pickup truck on a road with a 55 mile an hour speed limit. Because I'm not crazy about passing vehicles, I punched it to get around him fast. Fast it was, because no sooner had I passed the pickup then over the top of a hill in the opposite direction comes a county sheriff. Glanced at my speed, showed "about" 65 miles an hour. Damn. Sure enough, watch the sheriff pull a u turn to come after me. He also had to pass the slow pickup. Talked my way out of ticket by being honest with him that it's a new car, used to driving a v-8, wasn't sure how quickly I could get the edge to pass and that my sweet little edge is faster than I expected Sheriff had my respect until he told me that it's deer season and because I'm female that I would probably swerve to avoid hitting bambi. (Ok, he didn't say bambi, but still!) BECAUSE I'M FEMALE? WTF? I've lived in a rural area long enough to know not to swerve for any animal! Matter of fact knocked off a poor squirrel the other day:( Mr. Chauvinistic sheriff at least at the decency to say as he walked away, "Really nice car"
  10. Hmmm, My driver's side heated seat seems to only work on high. And it is hotter than I expected. Hey, at least I can say I have a hot butt :yup: ! The low setting doesn't seem to heat up at all. Haven't tried the passenger side yet. Anyone else notice this?
  11. No, that is not the problem. Speed doesn't change but the volume gets stuck and keeps increasing (and it increases very fast) until I can stop it with the dial control.
  12. Interesting question. I live in Michigan, did not rust proof my previous car (2002 Dodge Durango) and it is now getting a lot of rust on it. Especially the undercarriage. I wonder what some of the professional detailers on this site have to say about it. I asked the detailer that I took my edge to and they did recommend getting it rust proofed. My husband had his truck done, the stuff is nasty and drips all over for a few days and smells terrible. Don't know if I want to subject my edge to that.
  13. My volume button on the steering wheel sticks occassionally when I use it. Was trying to turn up the volume just a little bit and instead it stuck and kept on going....had my new boss with me, not a good impression when the radio starts blasting some Allman Brothers Band song. Only way I could stop it was to use the volume dial on the center stack. This has happened three times since I've had my 2011 SEL. Anyone else experience this?
  14. Rick, Like you, I'm a big Ford fan. Of the 10 cars I've owned in my lifetime (I keep them awhile!) all of them have been a Ford except for my last car was a 2002 Dodge Durango. In my opinion, repairs were more than "normal' on the Dodge. Not to mention the thing is getting a lot of rust on it. (Daughter drives it now.) I just bought my 2011 Edge a couple of weeks ago. Very impressed so far with the quality. Glad to be back in a Ford.
  15. Duh! Boy do I feel dumb. I assumed that the detail shop had removed the protective film on both sides. No wonder it looked so bad. I have now removed the pinkish top film and everything looks good.
  16. I am a bit disappointed with my purchase. I received it a few days ago. Took my edge in today to a detail shop (classic appreciation in Birmingham Mich) to have their new vehicle protection package. Had them install the protective film. I had never even opened the package, yet the film had scratches all over it. Looked terrible so I removed it. But my Edge looks awesome after a day at the spa....
  17. My travel link is working fine on my 2011 SEL. I'm not sure if it was always working or if it was only available after I called some 800 number that came up on my touch screen. I think it probably only worked after I activated my account via that 800 number. Did those of you that have had problems call the 800 number to activate your account?
  18. CanuckG35, I live in an area with a lot of gravel roads. Sometimes I can avoid them, sometimes I can't. So there will be plenty of times that my car will get coated with mud and small bits of gravel from the roads. Do you have any recommendations on how I can protect the finish on my edge? I have a 2011 bordeaux red reserve... (my previous vehicle was a truck the color of mud so I didn't worry too much about it) Also, there is no way that I can hand wash my car in winter, husband shuts off the outside water to prevent the pipes from freezing. Should I just go to a high pressure spray wash that I do myself? Speaking of winter, here in southeast Michigan they think that just because there is a salt mine under the city of Detroit that they need to apply the stuff 3 inches thick on the roads. Worst nightmare is getting behind one of the snowplows and having it shoot chunks of salt at my windshield... Thanks!
  19. I'm sold too. Just ordered one. Thank you
  20. So far I love the dark blue ambient lighting. But I have only had the car since yesterday, so I haven't had a chance to drive with all the different colors at night. Oh, and I got the bordeaux red paint color with black leather interior. I was going back and forth between the bordeaux red and tuxedo black. Glad I choose wine over licorice :yup:
  21. The holes are IN the chrome part of the front bumper/grill. If I got black ones and painted them, they would really be noticable on the chrome.
  22. Oh my! Picked up my 2011 SEL AWD this afternoon. 202a package with navigation and trailer tow package. Will use the technology a lot for my job. Drive approximately 25K a year for work. It's such a little thing, but I love the ambient lighting! I only have one minor complaint, my Edge came with a front license plate bracket, probably because it was sold to a dealer in Illinois, I'm in Michigan and we don't use front plates. They actually drilled holes :eek5: in my nice shinny chrome bumper! I guess my only solution is to remove it and put chrome plugs in the holes.
  23. I'm coming home to Ford after an 8 year affair with Dodge. All the cars I've ever owned have been a ford except for my 2002 Durango. Should pick up my 2011 Edge SEL AWD tomorrow. My ford vehicles: my first car, 1972 Ford Elite. It was in pretty bad shape when I bought it for $350, but considering I was 17 and paid for it myself, not too bad. I sold it 3 years later for what I paid for it. 1976 Mustang II hatchback. I loved that car! Bought it used for about $2200. 1986 Ford Escort. Last year for a carburetor engine. Stripped down cheapest model. Crank windows, no a/c. Best car (repair wise) I've ever owned. Bought brand new for $6500 1994 (or maybe 95?) Ford Aerostar. Bought it used. Transmission went at 100,000 miles. Repaired it, then we lost both the Aerostar and the Escort in a garage fire... 1997 (I think) Ford Aerostar extended. I didn't want another rear wheel drive minivan, but husband did in order to tow a boat. Bought it used. 1999 Ford Windstar. Bought demo with 4500 miles on it. 2002 Dodge Durango. Bought demo with 4000 miles on it. Was so tired of minivans.
