Eric, welcome, bud. I am new here too. I have an 11 MKX on order which is supposed to be built about the 1st week of November. Congrats on your Edge. What colour is it? As far as the pics, that's a snap if you have a photobucket account. It sounds like you do so your 1/2 way there already. I'm assuming you've uploaded the pics already to it? (If you need help, let me know and I know there are instruction pages on how to do it too). Once the pics are showing on your page, place your mouse over the pic you want to post. As you do so, you'll see 4 options listed below it. The bottom one is what you want (IMG Code). Move your mouse over and click on the IMG Code. The contents next to it are now highlighted in blue. Either do <Control> C or right click and select Copy to copy the link. When you are ready to insert the photo into your forum post, just do <control> V or right click and paste. Viola, Bob's your Uncle. See my example of a shot of my 7 year old FX35:

It's not new technology, I have had it in my FX for 7 years. It works great. The Infiniti system uses LASER whereas the Ford system uses RADAR, but they operate the same way. I used to get false signals sometimes passing an 18 wheeler with a silver shiny back door to the trailer. It is a very comforting way to drive down the highway. My MKX on order has it included. Once you have it, it will be hard to go back to not having it. I would say, yes, it is worth the money.

Thanks for that very useful info!!

I bought a membership to Carcostcanada.com for $50 which gives you the bottom line, invoice cost for 10 different models of cars. I priced out an MKX prior to going in and it was accurate. Ford pays the dealer a commission for selling the car. Any further discount would come out of there. I also got the Cosco discount, the A plan discount and the Ford financing discount. Carcostcanada tells you all the programs that are out on a car including hidden ones to the dealer. It's worth every penny. I priced out an MKS, MKX and a Hyundai Genesis sedan.

Congrats on your MKX! What colour did you get? I've got a black/black on order and am hoping to have it by mid November. I read somewhere on here about an SD Nav problem. I think what happened is the guy ended up getting a new SD card and that fixed it. I'm sorry I don't remember where the post was, I've been all over this site! I am purchasing an extended warranty that covers all the electronics for 7 years. I want that piece of mind. I had a hard time figuring out how to access the menus with the steering wheel buttons on the test drive, they didn't seem intuitive to me...and I'm pretty good at figuring out electronic things. I have read the manuals online a few times to try to make the transition easier. I hope your troubles end soon and you can concentrate on driving down the road with an amazing tune on the radio in a comfortable environment!!

Good for you! I've got an 11 MKX on order too. Supposed to be built the first week of November. Can't wait either. I am getting an extended warranty on mine..I think it's wise given all the electronics.

I hope the timing works out for you.

I'd be going as far up the food chain at Ford that you can. Place a call to the president of Ford Canada. Make a lot of noise. Squeaky wheels get the grease...
-
If that's the biggest bitch about the car...I think you're doing great!

Buddy, I hear ya..I'm only 46 and already have had too many buddies die. Don't ever count on tomorrow being here. It's great to plan for the future, but not at the cost of today!

What made you choose your Edge?

See?? Being open minded got you into a great vehicle. Companies do change for the better. Ford has worked hard and it shows. -
Joe, I'm not sure of how the taxes work where you are, but in Ontario, you save 13% on taxes with your trade. (We are taxed to death here!) If you sell yours privately with the understanding it goes through the dealer as a trade through, then it's a win-win. I did that with the FX and with my STS I had before that. It was more complicated with the STS b/c there was different taxes owing if you bought privately, but it still worked out. For the Cosco discount, one just needs to be a member, that;s all. Just show the card. I was tempted to get the Platinum...it looks great. I am just a sucker for a mint, black paint job. My disappointment is that the black is metallic, which will not show the depth of reflection that straight black will. Oh well, nothing's perfect I guess. Good luck on making your deal.

Shane, Here are the 2 videos I shot comparing 3 of the nano coat products. Aquartz which was the old version of the new Cquartz vs Opti Coat. Here is another video where I am reviewing a car wash soap sent to me to try as well as showing the properties of the coatings as well: The Opti Coat is available directly through Optimum Coatings through their forum. It is restricted to whom they sell and you must be a certified detailer. It is $100. for 40 ml which does 4 cars. The Cquartz is available right now through the owner Avi at his email sales@aquartz.net. He's in Cyprus and the products come from Korea. Payment is made in Euros. I've ordered from him twice now. Do a Cquartz search on youtube and let me know what you think of the videos. (other than mine).

Congrats on your order!

Thanks Shane! The Cquartz has two awesome characteristics (three if you count the awesome wet look it imparts): 1) Durability of up to 2 years 2) Scratch resistance to the surface Here is a link to their site: http://www.aquartz.net/aquartz.html I started Beta testing this product and was also using Opti Coat which is a very similar system. They are unbeatable in their looks and protection. The sheeting and beading has to be seen. I've done a few videos on youtube if you want the links. Once you try this stuff, you will never put anything else on your car again. I'm putting this on the MKX when it arrives. You can do paint, glass and trim with it. It will protect it all. It's more $$ than regular sealants, but nothing compares, even my Duragloss 105 topped with Collinite 845 combo...and that's damned near impossible to beat.

Here are a couple of shots of my 6.5 year old FX35 that I sold to get the MKX. It is wearing a new nano ceramic coat product called Cquartz. Absolutely amazing stuff that is the future of paint protection. Check it out:

Joe, I'm in Canada, so our pricing is different a bit than yours. However, Ford had a sale on with Employee pricing less $3000 discount off of which I got a further $1000 for A plan. In addition, after taxes, I received another $1000 discount for being a Cosco member as well as $1000 for financing with Ford credit. Their rate is garbage (6.99%) but I can refinance it after the first payment which is exactly what I'll do. All in all I saved about $9000. The deal was amazing. It also applies to orders and when it arrives, if there's a better deal at the time, I get my choice of which one I want. Way to good to pass up!

I will take issue and disagree with you there. I have an 11 MKX on order and was bummed doing my research that 22" rims were not available. I'd love 22" chrome on my black/black MKX (as long as they were a nice style). I don't care for the black inserts on the Sport but the wheels overall are very cool.

Here in Canada, the province of Quebec mandates by law to use winter tires (notice I did not say "snow" tires...airkby is right..it has everything to do with temp and not snow) from Oct to April (I think that's the timetable..it's during the winter regardless). The insurance companies lobbied for that.

Congrats man..keep the shiny side up!

Shane, I'm not looking to argue and can admit that I don't know everything, but, I was always under the impression that water based had more to do with VOC compliance than anything. I have been using them on my own cars for over 10 years with no issues. I did, however, consult a PHD chemist who works for Duragloss and this was his response to me: Rich Some solvent based tire dressings are just fine because they use a solvents that evaporate completely but some of them use mineral oil as an extender and these will be bad for the rubber. I always advise people to be careful and keep a close eye on the tires and make sure they do not start to show those real fine crack lines that will get worse over time. Our 281 and our aerosol 265 contain no any mineral oils and will actually add the life of the tires. These are proven facts that people have reported back to us over a 10 year period. Thanks so much Rich. I hope this helps out. God Bless my friend. Jerry I highly respect his very, very educated opinion. So, I guess it comes down to some may be hazardous to the rubber and some may not. Cheers, Rich

I have an 11 MKX on order. Mine is one of those "conquest" sales Lincoln is hoping to get. I come out of an 04 FX35. It has been an amazing vehicle and I will miss it, no question. But, I wanted a change and another FX just didn't seem to fit the bill. The SRX is underpowered and did not have the tech gadgets that I love. Here's the list of features that the MKX had that filled the bill for me: 1) Powerful engine (305 hp) 2) 6 speed or greater trans 3) AWD 4) Heated and Cooled seats 5) Heated wheel 6) Rear DVD system 7) Nav system 8) Killer stereo 9) HID lights 10) 20" or greater chrome wheels My FX had the tech pkg with LASER guided cruise, keyless ignition, rear DVD, backup camera, and Nav system. The new one had to have these and more. The MKX I've ordered has the Nav, Blind spot system (not annoying like Infiniti's is), RADAR cruise and chrome 20" wheels. There is not one thing that it does not have. I did not need a trailer tow pkg, so that wasn't ordered. If it's anywhere near as trouble-free as my FX has been, Ford has a winner here. -
Bird DoDo stained my paint
richy replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
If you want to protect your paint against bird poo, use Collinite 845 IW. It's a very, very strong wax, especially good for Winter protection too. -

I have to disagree with you on the solvent based tire dressings. I have used Megs Endurance, DP High Gloss gel, and Opti Bond and I find they last like crazy and give an awesome appearance. My customers love the appearance the tires have when they get the vehicle back.
