  1. I finally got to take delivery of my MKX this past week on Wednesday. I had asked the dealer not to touch it and they complied. I did a very thorough cleanup and paint preparation for the Cquartz nano glass coating I put on the paint. I am going to link to the thread I started on my detailing site Live2Detail. My post is long. I am very pleased with the results. If you have any questions about the short forms for any of the products I used, feel free to ask. Here is the link: http://www.live2detail.com/showthread.php?t=971 All feedback is welcomed and appreciated!
  2. Shane, it looks great! I am posting the link to my writeup (it's verbose, LOL). I like your wheels. Chrome and easy to clean. Mine are going to be tougher with the narrower spokes. It looks sharp in white. Are you gonna tint your glass?
  3. I took delivery of my MKX last week. So far everything has been great. Even my iphone4 is working well with it! I am very happy with my car.
  4. Thank you Shane. I'm actually glad the delivery was delayed for 3 weeks b/c so far (KNOCKING VERY HARD ON WOOD) I have not had any real issues. I've got the nightlight but all I have to do is lock it by the black button on the outside door handle and it extinguishes the light. I'm used to using the inside button so I just have to retrain myself. I think we're both going to be doing detail jobs on our vehicles this weekend. I'm home alone with the kids, so once they're asleep, I'm gonna head out into the garage and do it up. I will do a writeup on it at L2D and will post a link to it here too.
  5. I have played with this and found 3 solutions, one of which was mentioned in an above post. As you have observed, if you get out and lock the driver's door, the screen does not stay on. If you do not lock it and open another door (like to remove groceries or something), then it comes back on with the light blue coloured light. If you lock the doors with the button on the inside door panel, it does NOT extinguish the light. If you lock the door in one of 3 ways, either by the numbered buttons on the driver's door or by pushing the black button on the door handle for those who have the intelligent key or lastly, by pushing the lock button on the remote will extinguish the light. You need to retrain yourself for the time being to lock it this way. It will kill the battery if allowed to stay on long enough.
  6. I ordered my MKX on Sept 30. It was built on Nov 5 and then placed on hold preventing it from being shipped. It was shipped Monday, arrived Tuesday and I took delivery yesterday. The dealer did exactly what I requested, which was not to touch the vehicle other than to perform the PDI and fill it with gas. Last night I removed the plastic from the seats and carpet, removed the plastic covers from the wheels, removed the window stickers, etc. I vacuumed the carpet and then applied 303 Fabric Guard (like Scotch Guard) to all the carpeting and carpet mats. It also came with nice rubber mats for the front and the rear. The rear one is a big one that goes all the way across, not two small individual ones. Nice touch. I am going to seal the wood and plastic trim on the inside, buff the paint lightly and apply two coats of a nano glass coating to the paint. I am also going to put it on the wheels; both the faces and the barrels. The trim will also be sealed with it. I will post pics when I am done. For now, this is what it looked like on Tuesday after it had been unloaded from the truck:
  7. I took delivery of my MKX yesterday. I had ordered it with September's sale. Employee pricing less $3500 before taxes. After taxes, I got $1000. Cosco discount, $1000 Ford Credit discount (I'm going to pay out the loan after 90 days; it's an open loan) as well as $1000 X plan rebate. My wife may still decide to get an MKT so we will keep an eye on this sale too. Thanks for posting.
  8. Wilson, I see you have a new avatar. That gave my morning a chuckle...thanks. On a related note, I pick up my MKX today!!
  9. The only thing you can program to the IA key is seat and mirror position.
  10. See my post above. Mine was the only allotment the dealer got for those wheels for the month of October.
  11. Wilson, when I saw your pics the music from "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" came to mind. What a joke!!
  12. pssst.....Tonya...you're supposed to put down your beer when you're driving.....
  13. I have never used Ford's new capless system before but reading the manual it suggests easing up on the fuel delivery when nearing the top of the tank. Perhaps it was too full?
  14. Can you clarify this? Does the screen stay on if the doors are left unlocked or locked or does it matter? Is there a way to trick it into turning off?
  15. You must be in management, LOL
  16. Prolly one of those aftermarket "security" products.
  17. I know in my case, the dealer was only allocated one MKX with 20" chrome wheels for October which was my order. Maybe you had the same kind of issue?
  18. Thanks for posting your findings. I upgraded my Iphone4 the other night and hope my MKX is delivered next week.
  19. Lysol should although it needs to be in contact with the surface for at least 2 minutes to do its thing.
  20. It could be mold inside the system. Do you have access to a good steamer? If so, let it run for at least 60 seconds or more in one of the vents so the steam comes out the others. This will kill any germs inside the system and clean it out well. I do that for every customer that I detail their car.
  21. I had the dealer check on the status today. It has now changed to "re-released for shipping". The dealer says he's never seen that before. I'm assuming, hoping and praying that it means the update to sync has been done and it will ship to me next week.
  22. Was the engine at operating temp, nice and warm? Why I'm asking, and granted I'm no tech, but I have read where the idle of the 3.7 is set low to save gas. Setting it too low can risk it stalling. I'm thinking this might be a by-product of that setting.
