  1. My wife is having the same problem with her 2011 Edge Limited, purchased Dec 2010. The MFT is very temperamental. One month its not bad and others its horrible. Took it to the dealer (8 months since the last update) thinking there's a new update. He said all he could do at this time was to do a system reset as the new update is coming out Jan 2012. The reset helped but I'll be first in line for the update in Jan. Have you noticed that ford isn't running all those commercials claiming their vehicles are so technologically advanced anymore?
  2. Nope, just copied and pasted off the syncmyride site??
  3. just updated at the dealer within the last hour. Syncmyride indicated that the second generation version needed to be done by the dealer and below that indicated another update that I could have done via USB. This is what is shown on the syncmyride page after the update by the dealer. 4. No, I thought I've read other threads of earlier vehicles having the system.......with "O" problems. I'm not sure what options were available on these systems, but I think Ford has tried to add features which were not previously available.
  5. I don't know about others, but I've had mine since the beginning of Nov. 2010. I had one issue with screen freezing one evening, but system reset on its own after I reached my destination. I'm not a technical person so I don't use the USB, or bluetooth music from another device, and I don't care whether or not a persons picture appears when I receive a call over the vehicles bluetooth. I bought it for the looks, drive and quality of finish...as well as for the price and have not been disappointed at all. Be confident that the tech issues will ultimately be resolved.
  6. Just read the article today. I agree with you as well hockey 87. As for your comment richy.....negative press seems to get more peoples attention.
  7. Yep, seen them. I'm afraid that if you flashed your lights at these people, they'd panic and drive off the road. Some people have no clue
  8. I've had my 2011 Ltd. for about a month. I have the HID lights....but they don't come on in daylight. My daytime driving lights are only the orange parking lights. They are VERY bright and I think their great. Saves the bulb life of the HID's
  9. Just wondering whether or not sboots88 picture is really the "thing" that resides in all of the Fords with MFT issues. LOL
  10. I talked to my dealer about this "special cable" that is required. He said "special" ?......we just went up the street and bought one from the local computer store.
  11. Lots of help to be had. Before asking a question, check out the "forum" topics and target 2011 Edge. There's a good chance that someone has already asked the question and your answer could already be posted. Good Luck!!
  12. Don't know about the US, but there was no secret in my local Canadian dealership. There were signs on all the cars indicating that costco members could save an extra 1000.00. There were Ford vehicles parked outside my Costco store with stickers on them advertising the savings. Call your dealer and mention this promo offer. They will tell you whether or not they are still running this.
  13. I have not been able to ascertain a weight number either. I opted for the factory installed rails but did not purchase the cross bars which are available at the parts counter. They mount on pre drilled holes in the rail and they didn't look like they could handle the weight of my ski box that is the size of a casket !!!!. (I used to mount the box on my Chevy Suburban). I talked to a guy at "Rack Attack" and asked him if he had ever heard of anyone ripping the factory rails off any manufacturers roof. He said no, and he's pushed the limits on his own vehicles many times. I purchased the Thule aerobars that clamp onto the factory rails and when installed with my ski bin... this thing is SOLID AS A ROCK. When my bin is loaded....it's at least 120 lbs and I'm not worried a bit. Good luck with whatever you decide
  14. Costco thing only gets your 1000.00 off. Period. There is no special price for a Costco Member.
  15. WOW, sounds like you have been put through the ringer. I hope my vehicle doesn't go through that. I will watch for your updates and hope that things improve for you soon. Trust that they are addressing your concerns. Bad publicity can do a world of damage....quickly, and I'm sure they are working diligently to tackle these issues.
  16. Don't forget to put a piece (square) of electrical tape over the small warning light you can't remove. Presto problem solved with no visual distractions on the display
  17. Had my Edge Limited AWD for 5 Days now and has performed flawlessly :happy feet: . I too, like you joined this forum a couple of days after I purchased. Reading some of the comments made me wonder if I bought the right vehicle. I waited almost one month AFTER the vehicle was confirmed as built, (because ford was busy trying to fix bugs in the MFT system) and the wait was well worth it. Your that much further into the production experience and hopefully your MFT system is refined that much more. This vehicle is awesome no if ands or buts.
  18. Mine was built in early November, but waited until Nov 30th for the dealer to receive it. I have now had it for 4 days and knock on wood , haven't had any issues yet. Left it outside for 2 of those days in zub zero weather....no issue with screen start up in cold weather. Versions installed are below SYNC Version 1.3 BT4T-14D545-BA BT4T-14D546-AD BT4T-14F496-AD BT4T-14F497-AD SYNC compatible software BT4T-14F500-AD BT4T-14F603-AD
  19. I took the plunge and opted for the Thule. They strap around the factory rails and once tightened, hold SOLID AS A ROCK. Not to mention that the Thule cross bars are raised about 3 inches higher than where the factory cross bars would be installed and I'm able to space these bars wider apart (front to back) than would normally be achieved with the factory cross bars ( The problem lies with the factory bars not being adjustable and must be installed in the preset drill holes in the rails. The latter is a huge benefit as I have an old (10 yrs) Bic sportrack that's a MONSTER that I used to mount on my Chevy Suburban and I must have the widest stance possible to hold the giant thing down. I mounted it today and took it for a test drive. There was wind noise evident without the radio on, however, due to the fact that I can fill the box with skis and other stuff the increase in cargo capacity far out ways the noise hassle. I turned the radio on at low level and it all but disappeared.
  20. I have a White Ltd. with Sienna leather that I ordered. I think it looks awesome. :hyper:
  21. I wondered about the TPMS sensors when I contemplated buying my tires from the Tire Rack. My biggest fear was that there was going to be a 4 inch brightly coloured warning staring me in the face. Due to the fact that in Canada there is no law making these devices mandatory, I took a chance and ordered them without. After the tires without the sensors were installed I did get a 4" warning in the left hand dash display......but this can be immediately eliminated by acknowledging the warning by pressing OK on the steering wheel. There is also a small yellow symbol of a of a deflated tire that illuminates at the bottom of the display closer to the center of the steering wheel. Even though this remains lit (and cannot be turned off) it was not a distraction to me. A trick that has been used by owners of previous model years was to place a 1/2 inch square of electrical tape over this symbol to block it from view. I thought, what the heck I'll try to do the same and see if the tape itself was an eyesore. After applying the tape I was surprised at how effective this was. The tape is almost invisible against the black instrument panel. Bottom line for me is that I saved 175+ for the sensors and 30+ for the tool that you would need to reset the TPMS computer when switching back to summer tires. Problem solved. :happy feet: I feel it necessary to point out that these safety devices do provide a service for those individuals who may choose not to maintain proper tire pressure on a regular basis. As a person who's been driving for close to 35 years, I do maintain my vehicle and don't need a computer to remind me of service that is second nature to me.
  22. Winter is coming up here in Canada and I was wondering if there are any Edge owners that have installed the Ford factory cross bars to go along with their factory installed roof rails. The Ford bars seem to be shaped to cut through the wind much more so than Yakima (round bars) and Thule (square bars).....but since the Ford cross bars are screwed directly into the roof rails, I was wondering how strong they would be with a large ski box attached to them. Cost is around 137.00 CAN + tax...with Yakima and Thule at least double that. Any advise or comments would be appreciated
  23. I too had my sights on a Venza.....so much so that I recommended the purchase to friends of mine and they bought one. Two weeks later I read all about the EDGE and I changed my mind and ordered the Ford instead. I just got the call today saying it has arrived. (Ordered on Sept 29th). Can't wait to pick it up tomorrow. My friends on the other hand are giving me grief for recommending Toyota and then buying a Ford. Oh well
  24. Relax. I ordered mine Sept 29th.....the VIN was generated on November the 3rd. (This is a confirmation that the vehicle was built). I've waited until TODAY to finally get the call from the dealer that it was finally delivered to them. Sooo, for almost a month it has been on hold in Fords lot waiting for some of the SYNC issues to be rectified. My sales rep said that he was watching the production schedule and after the car was built he watched it going into storage....then come out and get a SYNC update....then go back to storage......then get another update.....and so on. All you have to do is surf some of the threads on this site to know that those who have early production models have had their headaches. It was confirmed that I have rec'd the latest versions of the software and I'm happy to have waited to receive it. (I'm sure it's not perfect, but I'm confident it's miles ahead of the previous software updates.) Yours will be ready soon.......remember relax WOOOOOOOSSSSAAAAAA
