  1. I will look into shipping charges and will advice. Can I have your postal code. Please PM me.. Tks,
  2. Kanatronic, Sorry, been busy with work...I am replying to you PM..
  3. I received requests to post pictures of the Wheels + Push bar. Here they are...Sorry, but I am far from being a good photographer.
  4. I am located in upstate NY... JP
  5. I have the following items in great condition for sale: - Black Anodized Hunter Push Bar + PIAA Fog Lights (510 series, wiring was never installed, all parts still in box) - Weathertech Floorliner DigitalFit 1st, 2nd row + Cargo Tray (NO scratches OR damage) - 4 Genuine FORD Gun Powder Wheels (5 spoke) + Tires + TPMS set has 4Km of usage, wheels are balanced(sticky weights/inside of wheels), NO scratches OR damage on the wheels. As I no longer have my EDGE, all of these items are readily available for purchase. If you would like to see pictures, please let me know... Tks..
  6. Weasel, I agree with you..However, FORD will NEVER do a recall on this problem. They cannot afford the bad publicity that this would generate + it would cost them too much $$ to do a recall on the AWD Edge. However, if you are unhappy with the repairs thus far because of the continous leak of the PTU, you do have Arbitration at your dispossal. I went thru it and won. I am just waiting for the phone call to go and pick up my check...FORD has 21 days to submit payment.. Good luck
  7. OK Guys..My 'nightmare' is over!!! Had my arbitration hearing this morning...and the verdic is....BUYBACK!!!! I won my case hands down...Ford will now be the proud owner of a leaky 2007 Edge. I can only wish the rest of you with the same problems the best of luck...There is always a way out. I certainly will miss the Edge. Besides this on-going problem, the vehicle is awesome... Good luck to you all...
  8. I had a smilar problem on my vehicle a while back.. The dealer rectified the problem by adjusting the latch on the door. Problem gone..
  9. Edge18, There are 2 types of leaks on the PTU 1. Leak from the seal between Transmission and PTU (inner seal)...Leaky oil will be "reddish" in color, same as the Transmission 2. Leak from PTU itself (outer seal)...Leaky oil is darker in color ("black") 1. is the most common problem with our vehicles. Look back on this blog, somebody posted the TSB on this --> TSB 08-12-3 You will need to look under the vehicle where the Right Side Driveshaft enter the PTU. What color oil do you see. If it's "reddish" in color, then make sure to check once in a while the tranny fluid level. You can drive it, however be aware of the smell and smoke that may materialize as the oil drips on the enhaust. If the oil is dark in color, then you do have a bigger problem, as it is the oil inside the PTU that is leaking. There in not much oil inside the PTU --> approx 1/2 quart...so depending on the amount of the leak, you may want to keep an extra "eye" on this. Unfortunately, the position of the oil fill plug is hard to get to. But with some patience it can be done. Good luck.
  10. All manufacturers have their "problems"...However, what I do not find acceptable is the method in which FORD is addressing this problem --> Keep replacing Seals and PTU's and hope the problem will go away As I have mentioned in my previous blogs, we are not talking about "rocket science" but basically a seal that is failing and allowing Transmission Fluid to leak out from the PTU. FORD has had 2 years to address this problem. Thus far, no solution. The transfer case / PTU was not invented 2 years ago. FORD has been using these components for years. So why do we see these failures on the Edge/MKX? Things that make you go Hmmm..? I am no longer willing to be a "lab rat" as previously mentioned by someone else in this blog. I have been extremely patiente and coorperative (4 PTU's and 1 Seal Kit) + it is currently leaking again. I have had great experiences in the past with Japanese (Nissan + Honda), so I guess I will try my luck once more with them..
  11. Great to hear that FORD repurchase your vehicle...I only hope you got what you wanted $$ I am scheduled for the 2nd week of April for the Arbitration meeting. I am expecting also a buyback from FORD.. It's a shame as otherwise it is a very fine vehicle...Well, looks like I will be looking once more at the Japanese models.
  12. There is no known "fix" for the leaky PTU issue. FORD released a NEW PTU unit in late December. However, these have also failed. Keep in mind that the leaky PTU issue has been around since 2007 when the Edge was introduced into the market. 2 years later and there is still no solution from FORD... If you have had a number of PTU's or Seals replaced already, I would strongly recommend that you seek out Arbitration, BBB or the LEMON Law in your state. Just because some AWD Edge/MKX have not leak until now, it does not mean they will "never" leak...Just a matter of time. Maybe they're already leaking and the driver/owner has no idea...Does it smell like burning oil when you have been driving for a while and you come to a red light? If you wish to learn more about this issue, please look up the "burning smell" blog in this Forum.
  13. I had something similar to what you are experiencing...a "pop" coming from the door -driver, while going over bumps at slow speeds. The sound never materialized at higher speeds (30+mph). While at the dealer, I mentioned this "noise" to the Service Advisor. They looked at it and found out that the driver's side door latch needed to be adjusted. Voila, problem solved. Good luck.
  14. In most cases, there are 2 rivets that hold the plastic plate "holder" to the bumper. Another way to remove these rivets, is to use very sharp electrical pliers and cut off the top of the rivet. Once you do this, the rest of the rivet will drop from the back of the bumper. Now, you have 2 holes, how to cover them..? You can go to any hardaware store (in my case, the FORD dealer had them) and purchase 2 plastic "plugs" that have fins on them (multiple fins along the lenght of the plug). I do not know the exact name of these "plugs", but they are easy to find. They come in different sizes. Most of these plugs are black or white. In my case, the bumper is black so it was a very nice fit.
  15. To answer some questions... 1) Built day on my Edge --> 5/16/07 2) Yes, FORD is offering me $9000 (as a voucher) on the purchase of a new Ford/Lincoln vehicle. However, this was not what I proposed to FORD. Basically, since FORD built the Edge, it has a problem (leaky PTU), as of today there is no remedy, thus the problem persists, they are responsible....For good Customer Service, I would expect at least a replacement vehicle. My dealership is offering me $20K for my Edge. FORD will offer me $9K, and I am willing to "chip" in $7K -->Total $36K Unfortunately, that is not enough, since to replace my vehicle with the same options that I have today, the cost of the Edge is $40K + tax (13.% in Canada) --> $46K So, I am short of $10K...Unacceptable!!! I am waiting until tomorrow for FORD to get back to me to determine if they are going to accept my offer (they had close to 1 month to think about it...hmm). Basically my offer is simple: Drop of my keys at the dealership, including a certified check for $7K, pick up NEW keys...end of story. In any event, they need to respond to Arbitration tomorrow. If I accept their proposal, I cancel the Arbitration process, otherwise, we meet at the end of the month. I will get my $$ (Based on the online calculator at the Arbitrator's web site, I would be getting close to $32K) walk away with my $$ (FORD has 21 days to issue payment) and go shopping for a NEW vehicle elsewhere. Don't ge me wrong, I love my Edge, and I am still willing to give FORD another shot by driving away a 2009 model which may end up leaking anyways....So, call me a fool. Stay tuned...
  16. A quick update... My second "re-designed" PTU (7251A) is leaking again...So much for a "re-design"...oh well.. On the other hand, I received a proposal from FORD Canada for my vehicle. FORD is willing to offer me $9000 FORD Dollars on the purchase of a NEW Ford/Lincoln vehicle. My dealership is willing to offer me $20000 for my 2007 Edge with 26000Km on the Odometer. In August of 2007, I paid approx $37000 for this vehicle...Talk about depreciation!!! As I mentioned in my previous posts, I loose money either by going to Arbitration or taking up FORD's offer. On the other hand, at least FORD is willing to do something about it. Unfortunately, this is NOT the proposal that I submitted to FORD in mid February. I wanted to exchange my vehicle for a NEW model with same options as mine (It is no longer available). I was willing to shell out of my pocket $7000, and walk away with a NEW Edge. Looks like we are past round one(1) and ready for round two(2).. Stay tuned...
  17. A quick update on my ongoing saga... My case has been accepted for Arbitration with CAMVAP (www.camvap.ca). I received the documentation and have mailed them today...Now, I just need to wait up to 50 days before a hearing is heard...In any event, I am very confident that I will win a buyback. I am currently on my 6th PTU (2nd of the NEW redesign units --> 8T4Z-7251-A)) and the famous "burning smell" is back. So much for the "NEW" design. tick, tock, tick, tock.... If the bad economic conditions doesn't force FORD to go out of business, this PTU saga certainly will.
  18. Arbitration cost.. To those Canadians who wish to go thru this process, it is FREE of charge. CAMVAP (www.camvap.ca) is government funded. If you bring a lawyer or witnesses, well, that comes out of your pocket. If you wish to learn more, please visit their website - see address above.
  19. Another quick update... Meet with my dealer's Sales Manager. My 2007 Edge SEL AWD model with options (leather, towing kit, dual climate control, block heather, heated mirrors, etc..) does NOT exist in a 2009 model. If I wish a model that comes "close" to what I have, it is a LIMITED edition, which is about $4K more than the std SEL models - please keep in mind that here in Canada, the options are different than our US cousins.. Furthermore, he is willing to sell me a 2009 Limited AWD for $40K. The vehicle with the options that I want (same as my current EDGE) does not exist and they would need to place a special order with FORD. Delievery time approx 2 months... Additionally, they (dealer) would offer me $20K for my current vehicle. Hey, I paid close to $37K one and half (18 months) ago. I only have 25K Kilometers on the clock (approx 16K miles). Hard to believe that this vehicle has depreciated close to 50% in 18 months... Now, I understand that the dealer needs to make some $$, but come ON!!! The dealer would also offer me the current FORD 0% APR for 72 months. Hmmm....Hmmm... I told him, that I would think about it. Afterwards, I ended up speaking with the Service Manager. I explained to him the "deal" that the Sales Manager was offering me. He said that he could probably give me a better deal. On the other hand, he also mentioned that FORD was eager to replace my NEW redesigned leaky PTU since they want to investigate the root cause of this failure. I said NOPE!! He asked what I wanted, so he can present my reques to FORD. I mentioned to him that I found 1) unfair, that the dealer is only offering me $20K for my vehicle 2) I want to know what FORD is willing to do in terms of an incentive towards a NEW vehicle. Service Manager assures me that FORD would be offering me something. How much? he does not know, what would like to have my input before he proceeds forward. I told him that I would think about it and get back to him before the end of the week. HELL, the way I see it, they need to give me a couple of thousand $$...I realize that my vehicle has depreciated in the last 18 months, but NOT 50%. After all, if it wan't for this LEAKY PTU, I would still be a very happy FORD customer. So, it's THEIR FAULT and WHY should I pay for this. Based on the calculation that can be done on the Arbitrator's website, if the Arbitrator decides that FORD needs to take back the vehicle, I would be loosing about $6K. In any case, I loose $$, either thru arbitration or thru the purchase of a new vehicle. N.B. Out of curiosity, I asked the Service Manager in the event that I do trade in my vehicle with them for a new one, what would become of my current car? would they send it back to FORD so they can analyze the 5 PTU failures? The answer was somewhat shocking (to me at least). The car would either be sold in the local dealership as a "used car" - including a leaky PTU, or it would be sold at an auction, where some "lucky" person would inherit a well taken care of vehicle + leaky PTU... So, beware when purchasing a used vehicle - I am sure you are all well aware of this...
  20. Update of the day... Received several calls from the Service Manager today.. Call #1 - He spoke with FORD Tech Support. They want to send another PTU (new redesign unit) overnight + new drive shaft!! Hmm...yesterday, the story was that the PTU's were in backorder...Go figure. He also advice me that there is no Guarantee that the problem will be fixed. Apparently, FORD wants to take a look at my defective PTU and figure out why it failed. Meanwhile, I can "try" the replacement unit and "see what happens"... My response: I am not a "guinea pig" for FORD. If FORD wants to find out what is wrong with their PTU's, then they (FORD) can take the vehicle back from me, experiment all they want until their hearts content, ship it to Japan or where ever they want where it can be "disected"... I explained to him, either give me new vehicle (exchange my Edge) or we go to Arbitration. I also explained to him that I am willing to loose the $5K that my vehicle has depresiated - according to the arbitration website. If FORD wants to offer me a deal, then let's hear it. However, it better NOT be more than $5K. Service Manager to call back FORD and see what kind of "deal" can be done N.B. Just to tell you how "Customer" oriented FORD is trying to be. They authorized the dealer to install (if I wished) a Remote Starter for all of my troubles!! COME ON!!!! Call #2 - Service Manager spoke with his contact at FORD. Explained my positioned and their response was not negative, but far from accepting my request. He said he will work on them... My response: I asked him if FORD was aware that I will be going to Arbitration. He said yes. I asked him if FORD knew that I have one HELL of a good case which I will undoubtely win and force FORD to take the vehicle back. His response was that they are well aware.... Call #3 - Service Manager called me with the dealer's Sales Manager. They obviously want to keep me as a happy customer. Sales Manager asked me some questions about what I want in a 2009 model. Basically, I told him the same options as my 2007 model. Sales Manager to look at different scenarios...will call me back later... Call #4 - Sales Manager has some different options for me. Would like to meet me tomorrow to discuss these options and what can be done. I will be visiting him tomorrow afternoon...Let's see what happens. N.B.#2 I warned the Sales Manager that I was not willing to pay more than what Arbitration would cost me.... The SAGA continues...
  21. Quick update... I meet with the Service Manager yesterday...They wanted to look at the car once more to determine the severity of the leak. sure enough, it's leaking. So, what next? - They had just received a handfull of NEW seals - The PTU's are in backorder (he assumed FORD wants to try the Seals (hence the availibility) since it is less expensive before replacing any PTU which would require approval from FORD. He asked me if I wanted a NEW seal. I answered "to what avail"...I will no longer be a "guinea pig" for FORD. If FORD wants to evaluate the root cause of the failure of my vehicle, they can take it back. Replace it with a NEW one. I requested that he speaks with someone at FORD who has authority to make these type of decisions - replace my vehicle. Now, we do not know if the 2009 vehicles also have this problem...so, a gamble here...If I get the vehicle replaced... The Service Manager will get back to me later this week once he has an answer. The alternative, we go to mediation where I am certain I will win (he also agrees with me, since he will also be requested to attend this mediation), hence FORD will need to take the vehicle back. The drawback with this mediation, I will loss some $$ and they won't pay for any mods/add on's that were done to the vehicle. I would rather loose now some $$ than put up with this in the long run. What is going to happen if the problem is NOT resolved and your warranty is expired. Can you imagine the cost of replacing seals/PTU's out of your own poccket?
  22. I went in last week for my 5th PTU leak... This time around, they installed the latest design of the PTU (8T4Z-7251-A) at the same time they replaced the Right Hand side Drive Shaft (7T4Z-3A329-BD).. Ok, this this my 4th PTU, 3rd Drive Shaft...Had one seal replaced last year - lasted 11 months. So, the verdict is... It's LEAKING AGAIN !!!! The "new" PTU only lasted less than one(1) week before it started to LEAK. I contacted the Service Manager and he could NOT believe this...I am going in on Monday to speak with him and have this thing resolved ONCE and FOR ALL!! Either give me my $$ back or we are going to CAMVAP (http://www.camvap.ca/) For those of you interested in what a LEAKY PTU looks like, check out these images:
