He wasn't being negative to you although it's easy to see how you would take it that way. He was really just being critical of the F&I guy, not you.

He took you from being a happy customer to being an EXTREMELY happy customer (as evidenced by your Wow that's GREAT reaction). It's all about PR. Also - if you had decided not to get the ESP then he could have used the interest reduction as a sales tool. So he either uses it to make the ESP sale or he gets tons of PR and goodwill. Ask yourself this: Since the ESP warranty and Ford Credit are not in any way related to each other, why would the purchase of one affect the other? Your interest rate is based on what you're financing and you're credit history. Since neither of those things changed, the interest rate should not have changed. I can go to my credit union today and get 2.69% for 60 months without even trying so 2.5% isn't that spectacular. There is a lot of stuff like this that goes on behind the scenes in F&I. My suggestion is to line up your own financing and ESP purchase ahead of time and don't let the F&I guys play games. Again - nobody is suggesting you got duped or taken in this instance - just trying to educate everyone on how this process really works so nobody gets duped down the road.

If you were planning to buy the warranty any way and you got a decent price on it then you didn't get duped. Dingo was just pointing out that you could have gotten 2.5% without buying the extended warranty if you so desired. It's important to point this out for other people who might be in the same situation.

That sounds like just a regurgitation of the official "1st quarter" date that's been floating around for some time now. I don't think this is new info or confirmation that it definitely won't arrive for 2 more months. I do believe they'll delay it this time rather than release it with any known bugs and if that takes an extra 2 months then that's what they'll do.

What vehicle did you drive previously (make/model/drivetrain/year) and what was your average mpg?

IIRC the issue wasn't advertised EPA mileage vs. actual. The problem was as the hybrid batteries aged the mileage went down considerably. Meaning if they reran the EPA tests they wouldn't get anywhere near the EPA results. In other words - it was impossible to reach the EPA mileage even if you drove exactly like the EPA tests. As long as you can replicate the EPA tests and get the same results then it's not an issue.

The warranty is only for rust-through, not surface rust. Although it won't hurt to ask.

This is why I'm asking everyone to refrain from making comments about OTHER people's experiences. Nobody really knows what someone else is or isn't experiencing therefore it creates unnecessary friction. And that works both ways. I would not allow anyone to tell the people who are having problems that they're not or that it's their fault.

The problem is the people who have had bad experiences take everything that anybody else says totally out of context. Where have I EVER indicated that these MFT problems weren't real or that Ford wasn't 100% responsible? Where have I EVER indicated that Ford shouldn't fix these problems or suggested that the problems people weren't legitimate? The only thing I'm trying to "balance" here are the facts. If I point out that SOME people are not having major problems - that doesn't contradict the folks that ARE having major problems or vice versa. Like I've said before and tried to point out again and again SOME people have really bad continuing problems SOME people have had almost no problems (for whatever reason) MOST people are in between with varying levels of problems. The software is garbage. Ford screwed up big time. It's not acceptable. They're trying to fix it but it's slow. Hopefully this means they'll get it right this time but we'll have to wait and see. Now stick to the facts and your experiences and stop worrying about whether other people are or are not having problems or why. At this point the only thing that really matters is whether yours is working or not and when it gets fixed.

I was referring only to the few people here on the forum creating most of the negativity referenced by CaptKirk. Yes, there are plenty of people who are somewhat frustrated just as there are plenty of people who ARE satisfied as evidenced by recent posts. It's not all good or all bad but seems to run the gamut from no problems to really bad problems.

It's only a few people who have had really bad experiences. Hopefully this won't be an issue after the upgrade.
