  1. Thanks druck! What do you think would happen if I didn't reprogram it? Also, how hard is it to reprogram it? Does it have to be done by a Ford technician? I would love to find a navigation unit from a Fusion, but they seem hard to find :(

Mine would not work because it didn't detect the wheel speeds. You will know right away if it needs to be programmed. If you plug it in and it works you should not have anything to worry about. It does have to be done by a ford tech. You actually have to upload the information from another car with the nav to our scan tool(IDS) and then download it to your car. If you can't find one from a fusion one from an edge with sync should work, just might need to be programmed. The dealership will probably charge you an hour of time.

  2. Hello. First, I need to say that I am a Fusion driver visiting the board. Even though I own a Fusion, I really do like the Edge and think it is a great car :D What I have is an audio question and figured I would try posting it here because it seems like there is more of a discussion here in previous posts about my topic than there is at the Fusion board. I was actually reading a previous post about replacing a normal stereo with the oem navigation unit http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=1181 . However, I still have some questions about doing this and I am hoping you guys can help a fellow Ford owner out :)

I am thinking about replacing my 6 speaker premium stereo with the navigation unit. My car is an 08 with Sync. First, should I try to only get an 08 navigation unit or will an 07 work too? Second, does it matter if it from an Edge, Explorer, Expedition, etc? Third, do I really need to get the unit reprogrammed to my car specifically or will it really work "plug and play"? It seems like from past posts some people have been able to just install it and go and not worry about reprogramming. But, if it necessary for me to reprogram the unit, how do I do it? Also, do I need to do anything special to keep my Sync working properly?

Any help is really appreciated! Thank you!

I have an Edge and did what you are looking to do. I bought my nav unit on ebay and installed it. Installing it is very easy and took about 10 minutes. you have to install the attena for the nav. As for the 07 or 08 for sync, I'm not sure but i would stick with the 08 just to be safe. I know sync is a seperate module but i don't know for sure if any radio will work. YOu will need to have it programmed. I did my own as I am a ford Tech but any good dealership should be able to do it for you. I got mine from an 08 and mine is an 07 and some of the options may have been different, but programming fixed that. If you can get one from the same car as yours you may not need to programm it. Hope that helps some.

  3. It's possible if the wiring is the same but you might have to reflash the computer.

Also be aware you must have the dealer swap the cluster and transfer over the odometer settings. If you don't the car will beep when you put it in reverse and go over 70.

I'm not sure the dealer can swap the millage settings. We usally have to order a cluster with the millage preset.

  4. I read elsewhere on the internets that there was "a Service bulletin for all vehicles built before 5/5/08 that the SYNC module may have to be replaced if there are issues with the USB"

I can find no mention of this here.. and would expect to. Can anyone can confirm/deny this Service Bulletin rumor?

There is tsb 08-11-4 that was issued 05/16/08 for a problem with ipod devices shutting off and it says to replace the module, but i don't see any other tsb's for usb problems.

  5. I was also talking about a special factory extended warranty, not just AWAs. They've done this several times on specific parts with specific problems such as the ignition coils on the 2003 Lincoln LS.

That does happen, but not often. And being the the wheels are not a safety issue I do not expect to happen. The only way I can see that happening is a class action suit or something like that, that forces them to do it.

  6. Correct, but I have seen exceptions or special allowances in situations like this, especially if it's a documented problem during the warranty period.

They do have after warranty assistance. But that is something the dealership has to be involved with, and they are not likely to do it if you are not a good customer since they have to have some participation in it.

  7. Seeing that this is a known issue, wouldn't the problem be covered even after the warranty expires? I would definately make this case if ny warranty were close to expiration.

A known issue does not equal and extended warranty. If they had a recall that would be different. But this is not a recall and therefore the warranty would not extend past the bumber to bumber or 3/36.

  8. You need one that came with the audiophile, those have the subs. I actually have on out of my edge, i bought a nav off of ebay. I dont want to sell it but when i get a chance i can get you the module number.

Try that link. There is atleast 1 on sale on ebay right now.

  9. one of the wires coming out of it was raw, meaning no coating, is this normal? Also, it is possible that although the radio is connected to that particular harness it doesn't send te signal out to the sub?

I believe that wire is the shielding wire for the wires going to the sub. If the radio you have is not set up for the sub then there is nothing you can do about it other than buy a new radio. Sorry for the bad news.

  10. So decided this morning to wire it to the cig lighter like JC4ME did. So that is wired up and all done.

Triple confirmed I have the video out wired to video in on the other monitor and video in to video out

Cannot get video to the second monitor when in AVIN mode? What gives

Cannot get the units to power off. Blue light seems to never turn off. It almost seems like they power themselves back on.

If you are wired to the cig lighter then they will not turn off, unless you can manually turn them off. the cig lighter is always on.

  11. Driving home today in my '07 AWD Edge and guess what!???? I'll take it to the dealer this week and see what they say. Funny thing is, I do have a Motorola charger but I haven't had it plugged in this week.

Did you check and make sure that maybe the light is doing its job? It may be possible that the light is working and you have a low tire.

  12. I will be selling mine as it just did not fit the curve of MY bumper cover.

It seems the "curve" on the outside edge is about a 1/4" less than it should be on the ends. If I lay it on the bumber cover and align both ends to the outside edge (rear of the bumper), the center is about a 1/4" in from the rear edge of the bumber cover.

I am in Canada (Toronto) ....

    Edit: speeling mistakes :finger:

How much do you want for the protector and would you be willing to ship to california?

  13. I HAVE A CUSTOMER THAT WANTS TO BUY A MAT TO COVER THE REAR CARGO AREA INCLUDING THE THIRD ROW WHEN FOLDED DOWN. I FOUND ONE ON EBAY MADE BY HUSKY THAT COVERS FROM THE 2ND ROW BACK BUT COULD NOT FIND IT ANYWHERE ELSE. ANYONE KNOW A SITE THAT MIGHT CARRY THIS AS I DONT WANT TO HAVE TO GET IT OFF EBAY? THE HUSKY WEBSITE DOESN'T LIST THE BIG ONE JUST THE LINER FOR THE REAR CARGO AREA WITH THE 3RD ROW UP SO ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED, THANKS.

The edge does not have 3 rows of seating. As for were to get it, I don't know.

  14. Hi ILMKXOWNR. :D Sorry to hear about your problems. As druck52 was trying to explain, it is always hard for a Dealership to fix an "intermittent" problem, if it does not occur when they have the car. Just curious, did you purchase new or used? Also, did you program the keyless remotes to recognize two different drivers and their individual seat settings? If you did, this could be part of the problem.

Concerning your "leaking control arm". What druck52 was trying to explain is this: You are mixing up the "control arm" with the name of another leaking/defective part on your Edge. Control Arms can not leak. They essentially are just hunks of metal. They have no fluid in them and are just bolted to other hunks of metal. Whatever is leaking on your Edge is not a control arm. You can have a leaking shock absorber/strut, a leaking transfer case, an oil leak, etc. etc., but not a leaking "control arm". Also, you could have one of the above leaking onto a control arm. Ask the Dealership what the name of the leaking part actually is.

    Good luck. :beerchug:

Thank you bbf, I was trying to be nice and didn't want to just come out and say that he was mistaken with his parts. I know he is fustrated with not being able to get his problem resolved, but I wish people would understand that if you can't duplicate the concern and the technician can not duplicate the concern then there is no way to diag it. I wish i could help with an answer but I don't have an answer.

  15. Thanks for the suggestion, but this did not help my situation. I am findng that without being able to "duplicate the issue", Ford will not stand behind this problem. I continue to have sporatic memory seat problems as well as easy entry problems. The easy entry option allows the seat in the back position until you put the key into the ignition. At times, ours will move out of the easy entry position and into the memory seat position when unlocking the car and before the key is ever in the ignition.

And the car has had control arm leaks 3 times (suspension) and been repaired in addition to transmission problems. I feel like I drive loaner vehicles more than my own car!

Any help or solutions to the memory seat/easy access would be deeply appreciated!

Its not that ford wont stand behind the product. If they can not reproduce the problem what do you want them to fix. You can not fix something that isn't broken. If you can get it to reproduce then take it there and show them how you got it to do it, otherwise there is nothing that can be done. Also just curious but what is a control arm leak? are you talking about the transfer case leak and having it leak down onto the control arm?

  16. I hate to break the news to you all but there is no fix for it. That is just how the AC operated and belive i understand all the complaints. We almost did not buy the car because of the AC. We lived in phoenix at the time and were trying to decide between the edge and the explorer. the explorers AC is much better but the overall the edge is a much better vehicle and we are happy with it. We are now in northern cali and it doesn't make as much of a difference. I wish ford would have done a better job with the AC but it is what it is.
