Just looked at it again. The screw drive runs continuously until the lift gate is all the way up or down. Otherwise one could not reverse the movement in mid-air by hitting that rubber button in the lift gate handle. I also removed that cover of the motor housing and it turns out that the motor is located way down in the rear fender and it looks like the adjustment, if there is any, is inside the motor housing. The funny thing is, that after moving the gate several times it appears that it now opens all the way up, give or take half an inch. Go figure! Thanks for all the input. My forehead is slowly healing!

Well, to paraphrase George W. I'll try to remove that cover of the lift gate motor to check what happens.

If the screw drive only starts the process, why do I hear it running until the lift gate is way up? It's no big affair until you hit your forehead on a regular basis.

You're right, a small motor can't do that but a screw drive could.

Sure, you are right, things fail all the time. However, assuming that there is a screw drive shaft that moves the lift gate up and down it has to have some kind of sensors at the end points, similar to those on automatic garage doors, right? If yes, they probably can be adjusted. Or?

Weak lift gate cylinders at 43k miles? Hard to believe.

I did check the manual but it doesn't mention this procedure.

Hi, After hitting my forehead pretty good on the open power lift gate (Edge 2009) I noticed that it didn't open all the way. I could manually push it up a couple of inches. Is there any adjustment?

No, the message does not stay on the screen, at least I haven't seen it. And, there is no screen to speak of anyway, just that green segment display.

Due to my "shock" hearing that message while playing a CD, I didn't even notice the screen. Anyway, this happens while driving in traffic, the last thing I would think of is taking a pic.

Hi, the other day my radio (2009 Edge, 6 CD changer) surprised me with a message if I wanted a report or something like that. I was so "shocked" that it took me a while to realize it. What in the world was that?

Guys, The very bottom plastic piece (just below the fog lights) on my 2009 Edge front bumper is a bit frazzled and I'd like to replace it. I tried to look it up but I don't even know how this thing is called. Can someone tell me the name of it? Is it available as a single part? Thanks, Ed

Thanks for the input. I have tried a hair dryer and. as you said, it's not hot enough. The thing is, the damage is not really a dent it's more like cuff and the bumper is just a little bit out of shape. If it were metal, I could hammer it into shape from the outside, sand it and paint it over. I have attached a pic.

I don't think it's a fold down unit. I just checked the Crutchfield website again and they say this units fits. I don't need Sync and I am aware that I need additional hardware for the steering wheel controls. Just want to make sure that it fits exactly the dash without unsightly gaps.

I'm finally ready to replace this old head unit. While researching the Internet I found hundreds of double-din units. Most of them look like they come from the same manufacturing plant somewhere in China. I have narrowed my search down to this Unit: Pioneer AVH-201EX and I am wondering if anyone has any experience (good or bad) with it? Thanks.
