  1. Finally got around to update this post. Bench-tested the unit and no sound either. Looks like you are right, bad head unit. Currently waiting to get Pioneer to fix it. Of course, the unit is 3 weeks past warranty expiration date. Just my luck! ?
  2. Yes, I did reset, pushing that tiny button with a toothpick. No dice. I took the new unit out, put the old back in, works like a charm. Tomorrow, I'll bench-test it and I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks so far for all the input. Ed
  3. I have no clue what you are talking about, and btw, I have no idea who Edgewater is!
  4. I took the unit out again and checked the wiring and it's correct! I ohmed the speaker wires and I get around 5 Ohms. I connected a stray speaker that I had lying around to the radio and there was nothing. I noticed a "Mute" wire on the Metra harness, which I don't know where to connect to and I am wondering if that unconnected wire could the culprit?
  5. Guys, I just got word from Sonix Electronics that the sub amp only powers the sub, not the other speakers. Which means I should have sound in the door speakers, right?
  6. Apparently, nobody has an answer. At least, can someone tell me if the subwoofer amp powers ALL speakers or are the front/rear speakers directly driven by the factory radio (6-disc changer)?
  7. I've turned the volume up all the way and there's nothing. Even if the antenna would not send a signal, wouldn't I hear static? I did some online research and one guy suggested the subwoofer connection might not work. I'm not sure how the subwoofer is connected to the head unit. If it has it's own amp, there wouldn't be any speaker connections from the radio. But the amp has to be switched on and the audio signal has to come in from the radio, right? The old unit (6 disc changer) had 3 connectors, the two smaller ones I don't know what they are good for.
  8. Well, I'm assuming everything is wired correctly but I don't know what you mean with #7, 8 ,9. And it's switched to FM, I can change the stations on the screen.
  9. Guys, just installed a Pioneer AVH-310EX into my 2009 Edge. It powers up, everything (incl. rear camera) seems to work fine, except for the minor inconvenience that I don't hear a thing. I don't have the steering wheel control adapter yet, could that be the problem?
  10. Guys, I need to remove the liftgate gasket (2009 Edge) without destroying it. It's rubber so I figured I can pull it out and press it back in. Is that correct or is there any special procedure? Thanks, Ed
  11. Hi, I'm trying to install a rear view camera into my Edge. The 2009 has a 2"x1" rectangular plastic plate just above the license plate where the rubber button to open the liftgate on my 2007 Edge used to be and I figured this would be the ideal place to install the camera. Since it is not accessible from behind I was wondering if I can pry it out from the outside without destroying it, install the camera and pop it back in? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Or I could take out that entire tag light panel without breaking it? Thanks, Ed
  12. Quick other question: Does the subwoofer in the back have it's own amp or is it fed directly from the radio?
  13. No, I don't have an adapter that fits the factory wiring, just the 7" harness that fits the new radio. I looked at this Crutchfield page and I didn't see anything talking about the wiring. But I just found a website (www.installer.com) that sells the adapter with the same-color-coded wiring.
  14. I did check Crutchfield and some other vendors and they all sell what I already have, a connector fitting in the new radio with a bunch of wires. The problem is to match the wires to the corresponding wires in the existing harness. Is there a wiring diagram that shows how the stereo plug is connected?
  15. Hi Guys, I'd like to replace the 6-disc radio in my 2009 Edge with a newish Pioneer touch screen and I noticed that the connectors in the back are totally different. Are there adapters available or are there, at least, wiring diagrams so I ca figure out which wire is for what? Thanks, Ed
  16. Yes, those steering wheel audio controls can be connected to the head unit.
  17. Haz, I appreciate your concern about my wallet. The thing is, I don't give a hoot about this SYNC thing, I haven't used it as long as I have owned that car. I'm only interested in a decent radio/CD player and a rear-view camera. That can't be too expensive or too difficult to install. Cheers, Ed
  18. Merry Christmas to y'all. Another question about this SYNC thing: If I replace the head unit SYNC will be gone, right?
  19. Guys, Thanks for the detailed and subtle advice. I had no idea that a Sync Manual existed. Now I know.
  20. Apparently, my radio does not know that. I heard this message last week and the week before. And it does not answer my question about reporting data to Ford. If Ford servers can contact my radio it stands to reason that my radio can contact Ford, or? Would it help if I replaced the radio with a new head unit?
  21. Hi, I just read in my local newspaper that most modern cars report all kinds of data to their manufacturers and I am wondering if my 2009 Edge does that? It is equipped SYNC powered by Microsoft and once a week I hear a voice from the radio if I'm interested in a car health report I need to push the OK button, which I have never found on my radio (the original one with the 6 CD changer). Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks, Ed
  22. Hi, I'm planning to install a new Pioneer head unit and a rear-view camera in my 2009 Limited. Does anyone have any experience with this camera: eRapta ERT01? I'd appreciate any input you could share. Thanks, Ed
