Hello, I would like to share my experiences of the 1st service with the community. Specially for the guys in Germany it could be interesting. I selected a small independent repair shop which already did the rust-proofing on my 2011 Ford Edge Sport. They did all recommended checks: Replace cabin air filter, if equipped Perform multi-point inspection Inspect and lubricate all non-sealed steering linkage,ball joints,suspension joints,half and drive-shafts and u-joints Inspect brake pads/shoes/rotors/drums, brake lines and hoses, and parking brake system Inspect complete exhaust system and heat shields Inspect cooling system and hoses Inspect cabin air filter, if equipped Change engine oil and replace oil filter when indicated on vehicle message center or every 12 months, whichever occurs first Rotate and inspect tires; check wheel end play and turning noise They changed (I bought the parts in the US): oil oil filter engine air filter Costs: oil 57 EUR (75 USD) oil filter 3.8 EUR (5 USD) engine air filter 10 EUR (13 USD) service 100 EUR (130USD) Total: 171 EUR (224USD) That's a good price compared to a European car and recommend services. I love my Edge more and more, although the gas price in Germany is real nasty. Currently we pay approx. 1.65 EUR per liter (8.18USD per gallon). That means we paid approx. 2400 EUR (3150 USD) for the last 8.000 miles. Sounds much at the first look, but is ok if you drive the Edge. :-) Best regards Rene

yes, with those numbers you can run the 3.7 v6 awd. I am getting 21-22mpg.

Hi folks, today I did a driver safety training at German ADAC (similar to AAA). We practice the whole day and I experienced bad cornering with my Edge on slippery ground (22" standard wheels). I was only able to pass the section with 15mph without drifting over the front wheels (understeer). I was shocked. I highly recommend to use winter tires and not to drive with the 22" standard wheels in winter times. But I was also surprised that I never lost control at the skid pad section (the pad pulls the rear wheels away to "kick your back" to the left or right while driving 25mph). Finally the version was successfully installed. Puuuhhh.....seems to be much better then version 2.11.

I stopped the car again, locked it and unlocked it and started the engine. I did a master reset using the MFT menu. After the master reset I plugged in the usb drive and now the screen shows "Installing file... (3 of 15)" and the warning message came up. I keep my fingers crossed ...

I downloaded the upgrade, stop the engine, plugged in the usb drive and got the error "Invalid or Unsigned File". I stopped the engine again, locked the car, unlocked it, plugged in the usb drive, started the engine and now it looks like the system is doing nothing. On the screen only the message "Installing file ... (1 of 15)" is displayed since 15min. The usb drive doesn't indicate any read activities- It sucks!

Just bought this one to commute....

nothing to add. For me the Edge is a family car with enough power to safely pass trucks on the highway. If you need a racing machine look for a other car.

Nice! I had the same "problem" thought my car is on his way, but it was still in NYC. At this time I did some google research and found the vessel which finally was the right one. You can follow the ships at vesseltracker.com. Btw: which company/dealer in Germany takes care for your Edge? I still have difficulties to get the approval for the 18" OEM wheels for my Sport because it comes with 22" wheels and no one can provide me any technical details about the wheels. I already contacted Ford US and set them the part numbers of the wheels. The only thing they replied was that it seems the wheels are made for the 2010 model not for my one. You can buy 22" winter tires, but you will pay a lot. Do you have winter wheels for your Edge? :-) Rene

I just found this topic and I am surprised. What's the difference between the 2011 Sport and the 2013 Sport!? I double checked the Ford website and didn't get it.

Regarding the head lamps. Yes, you're right. I was told that due to missing adjustments for HID they install something on the rear axel to adjust the level....

Hello, 1. no, no German available. 2. Your Edge will come with maps for north america. In a couple of weeks almost all of us expect an update of the MFT system. This will come with new maps as well. I guess this software will also be used when Ford introduces MFT in Europe mid 2012 in the Focus. I hope that maps for Europe will be available at this time. 3. As far as I know, the modification of your Edge will take longer to fit German regulations. I think a level adjustment system will be added to your rear axle. 5. The AV only works in "P" mode by default. Rene

How can I get this TSB? I just had a quick look at motorcraftservice.com and www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/tsbs/ but I did not find it. :-( Thx for any hint.

My wife made the decision for the 2011 Sport, because of the interior and the size of the car. I only added the BLIS and AWD. Used European cars are to expensive even in Germany, so we took the Edge and imported it. It seems that we are the only ones in the greater Munich area who owns a Edge. It is very unique over here and we get a tons of compliments. Our 5 months old little man loves the sun/moon roof. :-)

I am working for a international automotive supplier in the engine system division (we develop engine control units). Today my colleague asked me if I drive a diesel engine. The knocking sounds like typical diesel engine. He assumes misfire. I did not hear it from inside. (side note: outside temp.: 19F; gas: 95ROZ/85MOZ)
