  1. Above photos (which I can't get to just display across the window.) I posted to Gallery show the 60% seat removed, click on any and you will go to the album. The broken plastic seat back release pin actuator rod - p/n 61479 which is on order. seems to me a little dab of silicon grease should help.. it was totally dry and there is a lot of spring tension this cable has to pull the actuator from. I'll report back after I install the part and see if it works ok....

    Edge easy fold seat fix

Shows part (actuator clip) that can break causing the easy fold rear seats of Edge to not fold down by either the rear push button or the manual release lever.

    broken clip E

From the album: Edge easy fold seat fix

shows the orig broken clip of 60% rear seat on release side - could of cracked to begin with.. a lot of spring tension against these with the 60% side.

  4. From the album: Edge easy fold seat fix

shows close up of end of seat release cable (that goes across rear of seat and connects to same part that motorized cable connects to . This end of the long cable actually "releases" the seat to move down (or recline back) in case of rear seats. The two have to be synchronized. Replacing just the end clip should not disturb the synchronization.

  5. From the album: Edge easy fold seat fix

shows a normal setup - with good orig clip.(plastic) . it snaps on metal arm at end of cable, then inserted into actuator hole. . Its part # 61479A . Its strange that they are "dry" I am thinking of adding a tad of silicon grease. there is a lot of spring pressure against these filmsy plastic clips. maybe that is why the 60% broke. (even more tension on those)

  6. From the album: Edge easy fold seat fix

shows after 60% seat removed, 8 bolts (18mm) note the close proximity to 40%seat bolt bracket. This causes some difficulty in getting the 60% seat up over the bolts as it hits the 40% seat hinge cover. I found it has to be removed using metric hex keys. I used both a socket type and a typical hex key hockey stick type. There are two hex screws in each of those hinge covers.

  9. After typing it all up I just somehow erased my detailed fix. so I will have to come back, but turns out cables were good - just a clip that goes on end of the long cable which connect to the manual release lever. The clip was broken -- once I figure out how to put some photos up I will do so. The part is ordered which is Seat Back Actuator Rod Clip Part #: <61479
  10. Thanks for the info and tips enigma-2 - so this actuator actually comes with instructions??? I figure I best take the seat out first and check everything. Right now - manual handle does move up and down like its not connected to anything - also- cable motor runs -sounds like nothing is connected---so indeed could be a broken cable. Ah - Great Lakes ILL !! I went thru USN boot and then schools at Camp Porter and Moffett - arrived there by train (from NY to Chicago to Gr Lakes) on a cold Jan day in 1966 - found myself in the 7th fleet -on a heavy Cruiser. afterwards. tours of duty in Nam.
  11. I have a 2011 with 43,800 miles on it. The so called "Easy fold" seat nor the manual handle will release the seat to fold down. I can hear the release cable motor operate, but doesn't release. I figure its actuator is broke and I'll have to take the darn seat out, and get a new actuator from Ford parts, which is probably the same junk as the orig. Did not use or abuse the "easy fold" seat fold release but it seems from what I hear, the release mech is a poor design - probably not able to take the heavy spring pressure on the seat back, even with normal use over time. Anybody know if there was an improvement /upgrade to this problem? I check TSB's and haven't found anything. The small side continues to work . Thanx
  12. Mine had 24k on it when the door ajar switch /latch started malfunctioning - first occasionally - then by another 800 miles it was steady enough to take it to the dealer.. they said they weren't familiar with a problem such as that- turns out they had to order a new latch and it was back ordered.. what does that tell you ? then when they took the door panel off they saw the cracks in the drivers glass and did tell me there was a TSB on it. (see TSB list elsewhere on this site or https://www.ownersite.com/tsb/tsbs.cfm/2011/FORD/EDGE/) Then they told me some of the door panel retainers ? broke- anyone have this?
  13. According to my dealer - there is a TSB on drivers door glass,- I looked the # up on https://www.ownersite.com/tsb/tsbs.cfm/2011/FORD/EDGE/ Bulletin No: TSB-12-1-5 .. I took it in for a bad door ajar switch, etc - a growing prob with these cars, they took the door panel off to put in the part (which had been back ordered) and the drivers door glass has stress cracks along the bottom so it is not seen above the sill until it gets worse. so they are going to put a new glass piece in. They also said the retaining clip mounts for the door panel in the door frame are broken.. and they will have to fix that. Glad I am still on warranty.
  14. I have 25k on my 2011, constant failure now on door latch sensor.. took it to dealer - said it needs a new part and its on "Nat'l back order" till Oct (no def date given)
  15. See my post regarding bad or no rear track sliders in "Vista roof problems" thread-- they removed glass and replaced sliders -in my case, the rear sliders weren't even there !

  18. I have a 2011 Ltmd with the Panoramic roof. Only have 25k on the car- for a long time the panoramic Sunroof worked ok but upon closing was getting increasingly sluggish like the motor was straining or there was a low battery (which def was NOT the case) I finally got around to bringing the car to Ford service for another problem ( bad door latch sensor which gives faulty indication- It will need a new latch and they are back ordered.) see posts under door open warning/latch,etc)- Anyway- I told them to check out the sunroof . I figured they would just clean the tracks /lube,etc.. They did try that - but found it didn't help. Then they took the glass out and found that rear sliders were missing ...whaaaaa? I don't know whether they fell out or were never installed properly to begin with? - the p/n they gave are: 7T4Z*78502M78*A (SLIDE) and *B for other side. The sunroof never worked as good as it does now. What with the gizmos in this rig, maybe I should shop for a x tended warranty. ugh...
  19. Here's a correction regarding the site listed as safecar.gov.... re: defective 2011 Edge driver door latch switch .. the actual site is http://www.safercar.gov/
  20. @EdgeeOne Good job Edgese ! thanks for those photos.. I have 25,300 on my 2011 lmtd and it started at about 24,800 miles. I called it in to Ford and will be heading to the dealer- will try to make sure they do more than just spray brake cleaner up there..
  21. Ditto great news! Don't have the Android app, but have been meaning to call Ford and complain about the big compass in the home screen-making it all too busy- what were they thinking? customizable sounds great!
  22. Newbie here---I have a 2011. Back in Sept with about 6000 miles on it - began smelling an odor like natural gas when it was hot and usually on longer trips, - the axle seal mentioned in this thread was replaced and so far I'm up to 12,600 miles - and ok, but now getting the "tranny thump" 2 problems may be related with each other?.. I read in another thread about TSB 11-12-10 for thump. I will be heading back in to get them to look into that now.
