You're going to have to loosen the weatherstrip along the interior LS panel, remove the rear lift gate motor if equipped, pull the rear carpet back on left side, remove 1 or 2 pushpins, unscrew the cargo net hook, then pull the back part of the panel loose so you can get your hands in there, then go in by the left rear door and loosen up the front part of the rear panel.. Now install modules and put everything back together. Just watch the white grease on the rear weatherstrip, it's really messy and will get everywhere..

Looks very badass, it will settle slightly but not much more than what you already have

If you do not have a factory remote start then you WILL need the antenna and the hood switch. You will need to purchase DL3Z-19G364-A plus the antenna plus the hood switch Edit, my edge came with a factory remote start so I didn't need the antenna and hood switch. The loom for the hood switch should be plugged into a dummy plug

Because the R.I.M. (Blackberry) software works so well. Lol I wish Apple would have developed something for Ford. Also, who owns the name SYNC? Microsoft? Since it says SYNC by Microsoft

Russ, here is the remote access kit I bought. http://m.ebay.com/itm?itemId=350950539631 You will also need the antenna ($25-30), and hood switch ($15-20) since you don't have a remote access currently installed in your car. You can install all this yourself, it's very easy. Here are the installation directions, scroll down to the edge directions and it will also give you the part numbers to the antenna and hood switch. http://www.fordservicecontent.com/ford_content/catalog/accessory_files/2011-2013%20Remote%20Access_Truck3-15-2013.pdf Once you're done you will need to go to your ford dealer to do 2 things: 1) turn on the remote start option on your edge (check to see what they charge for this) 2) activate your remote access

I guess it all depends on how far you're talking, in my case I park roughly 1,500-2,000 feet away from my car and there is a ton of interference (building etc...) in the way so that's why I had to go with the smart phone system. V I guess what I'm saying is if you have a clear line of sight to your vehicle then the long range bi-directional system should work for you. As far as upgrading to the smartphone system (remote access) all you need to add is the cel module and the subscription service, the majority of the other components have already been installed.

I installed the ford remote access smart phone remote start myself. Took me 20 minutes of fumbling through it. I can probably do it in 10 minutes now. The dealer activated it at no charge. System cost me $382 shipped to my door. I can now start my edge from anywhere there is cel service. My edge came with push button start and factory remote start (which was worthless), so to upgrade yours would be pretty easy

Glad your wife is ok, and love her new car!
