  1. A 10" sub will not hit the lows that a 12" sub will hit, not any that fit in that factory spot anyways besides a JL 10w6. There are 10" subs that will hit low but you are looking at more of the higher end stuff and like I said subs that won't fit in the stock location.
  2. I have the JL stealth box, I took out the W3 though and replaced it with a W6. I'm running it off their 900/5 amp. In my front doors I have the C5 component set and the C2 6x8 in the rear doors. I would pass on the bitone processor and go with JBL M-8 it is a much better unit and doesn't have the bugs that the bitone has. The 900/5 a,p was small enough to fit under the panel across from the factory sub location.
  3. My SEL has the soundscreen windshield, never checked the side windows. Also 18" rims will be smoother any day of the week, the 22"s on the sport have the harshest ride. My edge is dead quiet but I also dyno matted all four doors and the rear cargo area as well, except for the rear door.
  4. I noticed last week that my shifter lights when out. I'm referring to the P,R,N,D,L next to the shifter that lights up when you turn your parking lights or headlights on. The car is in the shop now and this will be a two day fix it looks like. They told me the socket that holds the bulb burned out. Anyone else ever hear of this? The Edge has 15k miles on it and I bought it new last March.
  5. There's no way a 10" and a 12" sub sound good together at all. It's a well known fact that they won't fire with the same phase. Even running two different amps they are out of phase. I would buy a better 10" sub for your stock location and run the 500.1 on it, you will appreciate it better the day you do. I ran the stealth box in my edge, but switched the W3 out for a W6 and its running on the JL 900/5 amp which gives 500 watts to the sub. It's still underpowered but it will definitely sound better than a 10" and 12" combo.
  6. Candurin, I see you are in NJ, where about in NJ? If you are close enough would it be possible to see your lights?
  7. And which wire harness type for the morimoto? The heavy duty relay or the can bus? I have a 2012 sel with the ecoboost
  8. I want the most reliable and best quality kit out there. I don't want to buy a junk kit to have something fail within a few weeks or months. I'm looking to go with the 35w bulbs. I have read a few threads on different kits on here, but I can't decide on which one. I saw the kit that Dan at daytimebrightlites used and heard it had some problems. What kind of problems? Thanks in advance.
  9. Guess this never took off, Also assuming that a decent sub would run 150 alone, then the box would run 150-200. Throw in trial and error cost plus templates and all equipment needed such as the nuts and bolts, retaining clips, etc. and this thing will be right up in the JL stealthbox price range. Only with no warranty on the box most likely and an inferior sub to the JL 10w3v3 that comes in the Stealthbox.
  10. You can hook it to the stock sub amp, but that would be defeating the purpose. The speaker in the Stealthbox needs 150 watts RMS minimal. Not sure what the stock sub amp puts out, but most likely it is 100-150 watts max. I'm not sure what the Sony system sounds like in the Edge, but the main purpose of the sub is for better Bass. I do have the Sony system in my 2013 SHO, only because you can't buy a SHO without it. I have yet to crank up the volume on it, but im sure it is very similar to the Sony system in the Edge. They do share the same chassis.
  11. Well, it has been almost a month since I ordered my Stealthbox (7/25/12), it arrived today. Took it out of the packaging which is almost 3 times the actual stealthbox size. First impressions are very good, nice solid quality build. Only thing missing is the template, I will contact JL tomorrow about getting one faxed or emailed over. I will post pics soon and hopefully the install will be this upcoming week. By the way i paid 509 for it not the normal 599.
  12. The amp for the sub is right next to the sub behind the panel. The new amp you get will most likely need a larger power and ground cable. So most likely you will need all new wiring. Go to this link http://www.jlaudio.com/car-audio-stealthbox-ford-edge and then go to support towards the bottom and download the manual, it shows you in detail how to remove the panel.
  13. I have the ecoboost as well, but you only can tell the difference when going up steep inclines and that is about it. It takes a second or two for the turbo to kick in on the incline, unless you are already pushing the gas.
  14. They will work in the doors, you could leave the other stock speakers, Which I believe the other 6 would be the subwoofer, two tweeters on the a pillars( one on each side) and a center speaker in the dash. Not sure where the other 2 are, but maybe the rear doors have tweets as well.
  15. yea mine are leather and I have the ecoboost as well. Im also 6'3 280 and I was very comfortable.
  16. I have leather and the ambient, not sure why the ambient would matter in a folding seat, but mine doesn't fold flat. Never bought the Edge looking for that option either. Just curious as to why so many have this option in their SEL's and I do not.
  17. I drove the Explorer and my father owns a 2011, I just didn't like the ride compared to the Edge. I like the more sporty feel of the Edge. And the Explorer feels like you are sitting down in the fram almost, a weird feeling. I just had a 2013 Explorer limited as a loaner, still wouldn't trade it for my Edge and the gas mileage was not impressive at all. I did like the extra interior space with all seats folded down. By the way the Edge has 2"s of more leg room in the rear seat than the Explorer has in it's 2nd row, with or without the 3rd row option.
  18. A chrome clad steel wheel is not going to weigh less than a true chrome wheel. A true chrome wheel is aluminum underneath and will always weight less than a steel wheel. The reason they did the chrome clad was for cost purposes only. Most people go in to the dealer and go oh I want those chrome rims, not realizing they are plastic covers. They charge a premium for the replacements, because the insurance will pay it and people will pay it. But the rim most likely should only cost around 200 bucks.
  19. I have no clue what you are talking about with a flat folding front seat in the SEL models. Mine doesn't do that in my Edge. It took me awhile to decide if I wanted a limited or an SEL. I just didn't like the chrome on the doors and the large chrome piece on the rear hatch. Made the Edge look ugly, to much chrome. I have the 20" chrome. And the plastic wood on the limited was tacky. Those are the only difference in my SEL and a limited besides memory seats and the power tailgate. No need for the memory seats as I'm the only driver.
  20. I just did a drive from South Carolina to NJ both ways and the seats were very comfortable.
  21. Well I just had my first major road trip in my Edge. It is a 2012 Ecoboost with 20" rims. I went from Central NJ to Myrtle Beach, SC. The ride was smooth and very comfortable. The gas mileage at 70 mph stayed at 27.4, once over 70 it dropped down into the low 26's. This was on mainly flat highways with no real mountains or steep grades. I did however hit traffic from the Deleware Bridge to Richmond VA on the way down and averaged 25mpg. This was a mix of stop and go traffic and rarely going over 40mph. The only thing I noticed that bothered me was the AC. I had the fan on low the entire trip and had to keep switching from 70 and 71 degrees. At 70 it would still get cold and a little to cold after awhile. Bump up to 71 and the Edge was getting warm inside a little to warm. Besides that no problems. The round trip was roughly 1300 miles. I never let the gas tank get pass 1/4 tank and sometimes filled it up at the halfway mark. That all depended on when I stopped for food or bathroom breaks.
  22. Yea, I forget the exact steps as it has done it to me. But you need to reset the device through the sync.
  23. IU understand not overpowering your wifes ride lol. As for the C5's they are a great speaker and sound really clean. I have more bass running to them then I normally would and they handle it no problem. Once I get my sub here I will dial them in properly though and i know they will sound even better. I have had many different component brands and the JL's have never failed me. I run the ZR series in my Maxima and they might be the best Comps I have ever heard, better than any Hertz or Focal I have heard. Haven't heard Focals Utopia comps but then again they are 4500 last time I checked and I haven;t heard the upper end Morels either. I know the C5's win alot of sound competitions. Two good sites for car Audio are onlinecarstereo.com and sonic electronix. I have never heard anyone ever having issues with these companies. The halfprice site unfortunately carries alot less in variety and I have heard to many complaints for me to order from them. The RE Audio is the best halprice carries IMO. Also those XXX woofers most likely will not fit in the doors and you will have to build them out and cut your interior door panel. Those things are like small subs.
