  1. My C5's have a top mount depth of 2 9/16. I believe it was 3"s for clearence. Look around a little more. Why are you set on the xxx6.5? Never heard anything good or bad aout them. So that can't be a good thing lol. Have you looked into image dynamics ctx6.5? I was gonna go with these, for the price nothing else touches them and they are almost comparable to my C5's. I think you would be very happy with these. Try shopping onlinecarstero.com or sonic electronix. They beat alot of prices.
  2. Not sure why it cost you more than 3 grand for all that equipment. It does look good but the installer hit you up good and if you did the install yourself then where ever you bought that stuff got you good. Not sure if you have 2 sets of those components and your exact amp/s but someone killed you on the price. JL stealthbox 509 brand new shipped to door, hybrids 425 a set 850 for the pair shipped to door. Can't put a price on the amp not sure what you have exactly, but being that it is a slash amp and you have a stealthox no more than 400 for the amp 500 if it is the 5 channel version. And that is a when they were first released price. And 835 for the kenwood ( should have went Pioneer or Alpine in the dept.) That's 2700 for everything brand new, not including Rca's, wires, HU plate and other odds and ends. And priced for one amp. If you got this installed should have only payed 100 for the amp, 150 for all four speakers, 80 bucks for the sub and the HU should have been 75 or under. I would seriously not go back to that shop or I would shop around next time. I got a 1500 price difference on equipment alone between 2 different dealers when I bought my stuff.
  3. Did you buy your stealthbox yet? I found an online dealer for 509 shipped to my door. As for the Rockford i haven't liked any of the reviews I have read and the unit is a little bigger than I like. Im now leaning towards the JBL 8-ms or the Alpine 660. Also I would go with 6.5's for the front, although I did have to cut a small hole in my door panel for the tweeter, but you will have to do that for the 5x7 components as well, unless you have the Sony system and it has the tweeter location on the A pillar.
  4. I opted not to spend the money on the Sony system since it is a garbage system, I knew I was goona upgrade my system anyways. Saved that money to use on quality aftermarket components and amps.
  5. Then it doesn't have Nav in it. The turn by turn doesn't display on the screen it talks to you through the speakers. I have the same package in my Edge. Also you need your phone for this to work because it goes by your phone location. And im not 100% sure on this part but i believe all Navi systems also have the Sony system with it.
  6. The C5's are an awesome set of speakers the get extremely loud but do not break up at all and stay clear. The 5x7's are coaxils just for rear fill, didn't go with the components. No need for them back there. I have a 2010 Maxima that I put JL ZR's in the front and rear doors. It is louder than if I had just coaxils but the front set is so in your face that the back set is no heard as well. So in the Edge I just went with the lower C2's and they fill it in nicely. I learned from the Maxima that I wasted roughly 500 bucks i could have kept in my pocket. Im not to familiar with the rockford you mentioned, but I just don't like their stuff anymore since they were bought out. The Bit one has nothing but great reviews.
  7. No I didn't use a cleansweep on it, I went with line out converters. Everything I have read about the cleansweep was pretty much to pass on them and go with an audison bitone. If you throw a new sub into your stock enclosure it will not perform the way the sub was meant to. That enclosure was designed for the stock sub and each sub needs an enclosure built to its specs. Also with the stealthbox there is no need to hack anything up, If you have no sub like me it is just the removal of the pocket and cutting it about an inch lower. The new grille covers this all up and it makes sense to have a larger opening since it will be a larger sub.
  8. I bought a 2012 Edge in March and have hated the speakers since I bought it. I have the Sync system as well and I knew I wanted to keep that instead of an aftermarket HU. Well friday I picked up a set of JL Audio C5 6.5 components for the front doors and C2 5x7 coaxils for the rear doors. I also picked up a JL Audio 700/5 amp to power everything. I went with the JL 5 channel amp because it was small enough to put behind the rear panel opposite of where the factory sub would be. I installed everything yesterday and it sounds great, I didn't buy a sub yet because I wanted to see what the system sounded like prior to a sub, thinking it might be enough. I did however run everything incase I did want to install a sub, I bought mine without a factory sub. I should have taken pics but didn't even think about it until after I was done. The only thing that you can tell is done are the front tweeters were put into the doors instead of behind them. I can take pics of those later. This is one of the best investments I have made to my Edge and now im starting to look at a sub for it. Not sure if I wanna go with the Stealthbox or try and mod a stock enclosure.
  9. DO you still have these? If so I will take them
  10. I assume it is the way you are driving your Edge. I have just over 1300 miles on mine and the highest MPG I have seen is 32 on a flat highway at 55. The lowest I have seen is 18 and that was in New York City traffic and with about 10 minutes of idiling besides the stop and go traffic. I average a little under 25 MPG all together and I have never seen any soot or black on my tailpipes. The only issue I have encountered so far is with the Sync kicking my phone off and constantly turning on my Ipod. On the other hand my GF has a 2011 Altima 2.5 and averages 28 on the highway doing 70-75, at those speeds I see my Edge running at 24-26 all the time. And once you give the Edge any real throttle it drops the MPG right down to the 17-18 MPG fast. You have to baby the throttle to keep the MPG high or use the cruise control.
  11. Looks nice with the new wheels, But one thing had me scratching my head the entire time. Did you guys actually buy an Edge for speed and running 1/4 miles down the track? I never thought an Edge would be great at the track. And if you want the best grip I would run slicks on it at the track on 15" rims. I run 18" rims on my mustang but at the track I swap the rears off for slicks on 15" rims to get the extra grip. The slick combo is actually heavier than the 18" and tire, but I get no grip from them at all.
  12. I grew up in Sayreville, Parlin is part of Sayreville and Old Bridge, I was looking at the Lincoln as I have had several Lincolns before, but couldn't justify the extra 15 grand.
  13. Sounds decent, I got mine with 5 miles with the ECO and everything listed except AWD(not avaliable with ECO) and the roof. Sticker was 36,365 walked out paying 30,926 with ttl.
  14. The dealer where I bought mine had a 13 in that color but no ECO, I wanted the ECO and they showed me a 12 in that color, but I went with the silver instead. It was a tough choice between the two. If they had a 13 ECO I most likely would have went with it.
  15. Those LED lights in the front are what FORD is considering fog lights, I was reading up on it and it might be a new direction on a lot of new vehichles. I have heard it is due to safety reasons, that people are driving at night with only fogs and not their headlights. Not sure if there is any truth to that.
  16. Went to All American, I beat them down pretty good on the price. It is silver with black leather. Loman is just a Kia dealer now.
  17. I have not put enough miles on my Eco yet, I got it with 4.9 miles on it, put about 50 miles on it today. No noticable shifts in the trans, it feels more like a CVT trans than a regular auto. The highest I have gotten on the highway was 31mpg on a 15 mile straight with a good head wind. I took back roads on the way back to get more of a feel for the car in stop and go traffic. That brought it down to roughly 24mpg. I have also heard the first 1500 miles will also yield the worst mileage for the vehichle as the motor breaks in.
  18. Just introducing myself, picked up my new 2012 Ecoboost Edge yesterday. SEL package everything except Navi and the giant sunroof. Not sure if there will be any mods right away.
