  1. The MFT is complicated in the sense that it could have been designed with fewer menus. For example the “Screen Display” has 3 options (To Empty, RPM and Engine Temperature, and RPM, Engine Temperature and the Fuel Gauge). I just don’t see why anyone would NOT like to have just one display visible: RPM, Engine Temperature and the Fuel Gauge and therefore eliminating one menu item. Many more screens like the above could have been eliminated resulting in a better system And as Waldo mentioned in post #7, the useless indicator bars are eliminated in newer models Regardless the above, I love my MFT and SYNC and never had any issues
  2. Thanks to all for the help Yes they are what you mentioned and they are not 4 or 5 tinny rectangles as I mentioned on my 1st post but only 3 and when you scroll with the left / right arrows on the steering wheel these rectangles are lighted depending on the screen you are. But I don’t see the purpose of them; I mean kind of more clutter in a complicated system
  3. On my 2013 Edge LTD I can’t find in the manual what this gauge is for. It is located just above the fuel gauge and it is just a small horizontal line, perhaps 1/2" long, made with 4 or 5 tinny rectangles and the first from the right looks like its filled (lighted) I don’t know if it always had been there but just notice it recently Anyone knows what it’s for?
  4. I used a 5/16" wrench and all is fine - so simple Thanks
  5. Yes it is MFT equipped and I just found a setting "Auto Dimm" which was set to OFF. Now I put it to "AUTO" and I will see if it works when it gets dark outside Thanks
  6. I wonder if there is a better way to dim (together and at the same time) the lights on the Instrument Cluster and SYNC screen at night. What I do now is a two step process which I find quite difficult and dangerous: First I use the Instrument Lighting Dimmer switch (located to the left of the steering column) to dim the Instrument Cluster lights and then I have to find the menu on the SYNC screen to dim the SYNC light which is quite bright. Then the next day I have to do the same process to increase the light level in both. Perhaps there is an easier way described in the manual which I missed?
  7. Got the same issue too. I looked at the catch and it looks like that only one of the bolts has a slotted hole. I will give it a try to see if I can adjust it properly
  8. I also find the power liftgade a useless option. Too difficult to fiddle with the exterior button to open the gate and tooooooo slow to open / close
  9. Had the truck at the dealer yesterday. As per work order it looks like that they only checked for oil leaks and found none but the dealer send an email to Ford for further assistance. Got a copy of the email from Ford and it says: “From the excessive engine oil consumption test found in section 303-00, diagnostic and testing of the workshop manual, the specification for excessive oil consumption is one quart of oil per 4800km (3000 miles). It is recommended to perform the excessive oil consumption test as per the workshop manual. The pre-test and post test checks are very useful tools to diagnose the root cause of excessive oil consumption” I did not read Ford’s letter when I picked up my truck but it looks like they did not perform the test as per Ford’s letter and so I will go back and find out why. The work order says that they did add 0.5 liters of oil and if my conversion is correct 0.5 liters equals 0.53 quarts. Since the oil I lost (0.5 liters) happened in approx. 2500km of city driving, that falls within Ford’s definition of excessive oil consumption (0.53 quarts oil lost per 2500km times two = approx. one quart per 5000km)
  10. Very good info autom8r, thanks I wrote down your points and definitely I will ask the dealer to give me a report of their tests / work done. Hope to go some times in June and I will post back the results.
  11. As I mentioned in post #3, I will be going to the dealer soon so no point for me to remove the cover. Although I like working on cars I prefer not to do any work when under warranty.
  12. Never smelled burning oil however she could leak a very small amount of oil thru the piston rings and burn it and that will not even show in the tailpipes. We should not forget that all this happens with city driving and to my opinion if I was going on a trip where the truck will be going constantly at 100km/hr it may leak / burn much more and faster. But why on the 1st 5500km she did not loose any oil and when I changed to synthetic she started to loose oil? Just a coincidence?
  13. Good point nickf but I have not inspected the underside of the engine bay. Plan to go to the dealer next week or so and I'm sure they will check this area
  14. I got my 2013 Edge Ltd with 2L ECOBoost on Feb-2013 and had the 1st service Aug-22-2013 at 5520km. During this time I was checking the oil level regularly and noticed oil level was full at all times During the 1st service I asked to change the oil to synthetic and they used CX0-5W30-LFS12 Checking my oil level again I noticed now that I was loosing oil and not from leaks because I park inside my garage and the floor under the truck is always clean. I have not notice any blue smoke either coming out from my exhaust but this is difficult to notice since the fumes, if any, are not easily visible from the drivers seat. Also the oil on the deepstick is clean with no visible water present Last March, which is about 7 months and about 4000km after my 1st oil change, the oil level was half full and I went to the dealer where they top it up (again with the same synthetic) and told me to keep an eye to see what happens. I was not charged for this service Now which is 2 months and about 2000km after the dealer toped up my oil, the level is half way down between the full and the half full level on my dipstick and I don’t like that. The last 2000km have all been city driving I plan to go to the dealer again but this time I have to make an appointment because I guess they will keep the truck to find out why I loose oil. Is it possible the 2L ECOBoost engine does not like synthetic oil? Anyone with similar experience?
  15. I don’t know of any way to disable this feature but to me the tire pressure monitoring system is useless and it just adds cost to the price of the car. I don’t need a complicated system to tell me if my tires are properly inflated or not but others they may need that
  16. Here is something good about this subject for all members. I was scheduled to go to the dealer to fix my "tire pressure monitor fault" and the other day when I started the car the warning light / message was NOT there anymore. So to my opinion, as long as you know that your tires are inflated properly, give it some time and the warning message will go off (unless there is a real problem with the sensor
  17. Maybe, but the manual clearly says to Inspect the wheel pilot hole and mounting surface which means two items to inspect. Next week I will go to the dealer for my TPMS fault and I will ask
  18. On page 170 of the manual for my 2013 Edge Ltd it says not to use the power points for operating the cigarette lighter. Since a lighter fits in the power point why it does not work? Perhaps if I change the socket it may work?
  19. I have change my tires 3 times so far (from winter to summer tires) on my 2013 Edge Ltd and never noticed or looked for a wheel pilot hole as described on the manual page 339 I was reading the manual again to see if there is any info on my recent TPMS fault and the manual says under the tire change procedure “Inspect the wheel pilot hole and mounting surface…..” I know about inspecting the mounting surface but has anyone noticed this pilot hole and what is its purpose?
  20. Good to know, thanks
  21. You may have a point here. Last year when I bought the car in February I drove back home and left the summer tires (18") in the garage since I was going to change them in a couple of months. But last December when I removed the summer tires I store them in my cabana which is about 100 feet away from the garage. Perhaps keeping the tires far away de activates the sensor on the tires? If that is the case, can I do something myself to avoid going to a garage which will cost me $$$ ?
  22. BTW I forgot to ask; why last year I installed the 18" summer tires and all was ok and this time I have this problem? Perhaps the tires need to be installed in a certain way and last year I was just lucky?
  23. On the rainy day I drove for about 25 miles at 110 kph and today on snny day I drove for about 30 miles at 100 kph and the same message is still there. So I will go to someplace and have it fixed Thanks for the reply
