  1. Glad you successfully got it done! (Nice how-to as well) I was amazed at how simple a fix it was, any garage would have replaced the whole arm instead of a 5$ fix. Haven’t had any issues with mine since, almost 3 years later now.
  2. wlapaglia, this exact behaviour never happened to me. I would suggest you try the sunroof reinitialization method found on that thread. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/5259-sunroof-initialization/ This often resolves the issue when the sunroof does not close completely, I have not heard of an issue with the sunroof cover opening. but it is worth a try.
  3. The ford edge 2013 does not have one touch closing. It will always stop short. I beleive this is due to the fact that the glass will not "detect" if there is an obstruction and would risk pinching body parts. ( Which is kind of ironic, since i dont think the motor is really strong enough to cause injuries.) The opening is done in two "one touch" stages. The first stage is not fully opened and it is meant to reduce wind noise (ie for a quieter highway mode). The second stage is fully open. The second stage is also "one touch" since tou don't have to hold the switch for it to open fully. You just have to press it a second time.

  5. Devon, if your 2015 edge is only two months old, the lubrication may not be the culprit. This happens when dirt and dust get in the track after a long exposure to the elements. I would get the dealer to get it inspected and identify the problem. The initialization instructions posted were for 2007 models and up to 2014 (i.e. not for the current edge model), and may not apply to your model (same with the sunroof lubrication video). I am pretty sure the sunroof changed, but not sure to what extent. Honestly, if your vehicle is still under warranty as it should. I would not even tinker with it. Bring it to the dealer and let them do the work. I don't understand why you would be without the car for 13 days. The worst I was quoted (for replacing the sunroof motor) was 2 day of work, but in the end they just ended up lubricating the rails, and it worked (kinda wish they had replaced the motor, since it was still under warranty at the time). If the dealer doesn't offer a courtesy car for the duration of the repairs, (especially for a 2 month old car), then I would go to another dealer, I assume there are tons of Ford dealer in L.A.. You have no obligations to get warranty work done at the dealer that sold you the car. I ended up having to lubricate the roof on my 2011 edge every year, but your experience may differ. I live in Canada and ice and snow gets in the track in winter and dust and pollen in the summer. Not a good recipe for the poor grease in the sunroof's track.
  6. I had the exact same issue with my 2011 Edge. The turn signal when turning right would not hold and would always stop after the 3 flashes. I followed the process above (the hardest part was removing the plastic cover. Hint: leave the bottom bolt attached and remove the top part first. You can access some of the clips with a long screwdrivers or your fingers from the bottom where the locking lever is.) The rest was very easy, as long as watch out to not lose anything since the connectors are not attached and can easily fall after removing the circuit switch. In my case the grease on the turn signal connectors was very dirty (dark black instead of a pale yellow), I removed the old grease with a paper towel and applied new dielectric grease. It works like new. I did not need to use sandpaper. My guess is that for some reasons dust and dirt get in the area where this specific connector is and contaminate the grease. All and all, a no cost fix thanks to this forum.
  7. The hard stop you are describing under common operation is not consistent with the lubrication issue that is common to most. When that happens the roof close very slowly and eventually stops.
  8. Sounds like you are doing it right. Here is how I understand it, Sadly I can't test it myself right now. Start the engine. Pull and hold the roof opening panel control switch until the sliding glass panel is in the fully CLOSED position (or as closed as it will be). Release the control switch. Pull and hold the roof opening panel control switch until the sunshade panels are in the fully CLOSED position. Release the control switch. Pull and hold the roof opening panel control switch (for at least 21 seconds). - the sliding glass panel will move toward the front hard-stop and stall. - The sunshade panels will move toward their front hard-stops, stall, move back a few millimeters, then forward. After the sunshade panels have finished moving backward and forward, release the roof opening panel control switch. Pull and hold the roof opening panel control switch. (keep holding the switch during the entire time for this step) - The sliding glass panel and sunshades will fully open together. - Then, the sliding glass panel will close first and then the sunshades will return to the fully CLOSED position. When the sunshades have stopped moving, release the roof opening panel control switch. Note that the step I posted is for 2011 model and after. The initial instructions posted on the first page of this post were for pre-2011 model. There might be a difference in the procedure that will work for your 2010 Edge.
  9. It should not matter in step 1 if the roof is fully closed or not. It would fully close, then you would not need to re-initialized the sunroof. I would go through the whole process not matter what happened at step the first step. Wath out for step 5, it is confusing
  10. Mine has been working fine after being lubricated for the last two year, but i did have to go to the dealer twice for them to lubricate the right parts and fix it. (sadly, I don't know what they did different the second time that worked.) It went from not closing at all and being told I needed a new motor, to working for the last 2 years. I have another post that describes the reset procedure which you could also try ( Sunroof Initialization) And somebody posted somewhere else how to lubricate the roof yourself. Bottom line is: your roof must be able to close within a certain amount of time. If it closes within 8 seconds, then it is fine, longer than that and I would recommend lubricating the rails. (But if your Edge is still under warranty, then there isn't any arm in getting the dealer to replace the motor.....)
  11. Nice to hear it worked for you I did not have to do it since, I just get the roof lubricated as soon as I notice it slowing down a lot.
  12. Anderson6799, get your sunroof rails lubricated (or do it yourself) before you change any parts. Mine exhibited the same problem than yours, and at one point would just not close completely. Went to the dealer once, they lubricated the rails and it did not work, when I went in to replace the motor, they instead lubricated some other parts of the rail (guess they were not interested in doing 2 x days of warranty work) and it has been working perfectly fine since then (aprox 2 years now, and I open the sunroof a lot in the summer).
  13. Iona, take the time to read my previous post, most of the time lubricating the rails and resetting the sunroof solves the problem. Dealers are often extremely quick to suggest a part replacement for the sunroof (for example, if the sunroof moves back and forth but stop short, the motor is still working...). If you look for it, someone posted the lubricating/cleaning procedure on this forum, as well as the reset procedure for the sunroof. Cleaning the rails is a preventive maintenance procedure rather than a repair, (similar to lubricating the brakes), and would not likely be covered by warranty.
  14. If you are handy, or want to tell the dealer exactly what to do. Here is a link to the lubrication procedure with video. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/18159-vista-roof-closes-in-65-seconds/#entry133526 Again, this should be part of the preventive maintenance...
  15. landon_chris, I had the same issue (ford edge 2011), went to the dealer to get it lubricated, it did not fix the problem the first time, they told me I would have to change the motor (under warranty). Went back but instead of changing the motor, they lubricated other parts and it has been working fine since then. With any car companies, some dealer are good, and some are terrible. My recommendation, change dealer, and insist that they fix the problem without replacing the sunroof motor. Usually the problem is that the friction is too high and the motor just stops thinking it has reached the end. Ford should really have a proper preventive maintenance procedure in place for the sunroof, it would prevent a lot of the issues.
  16. we may need a bit more details, are they frosting up when you are driving, or are they frosting up overnight ? Which windows are frosting specifically ? Nevertheless, my Edge side windows have a tendency to fog and frost when the climate control is on Auto. This is due to the fact that the auto-climate control is designed to direct air to the feet vents when it is cold outside. The reasoning is that warm air rise, and sending it to the feet is better for overall general confort (otherwise your feet would be cold while your upper body would be too hot.) This creates two issues however, first the air at the feet accelerate the evaporation of the snow/water on the carpet, which increases the overall humidity, and second, the system stops the flow of air to the windows, making them very cold and causing water to condense and then freeze. The trick for me to prevent this is to put the climate control on the "windshield and feet" mode, that way I feel comfortable and there is still enough air on the windows to prevent condensation.
  17. It is one of the option in the settings you have to activate. I think it is called RDS Text Display (ON/off). This will display the information broadcasted by the radio-station (most to the time sound title, something weather or traffic info). Not all of the stations broadcast RDS however, so don't be surprised if it does not always display.
  18. Yeah, that's why I said people claim they get significant savings, my experience has been the same after shopping around, the higher cost of installation/balancing offsets the saving in prices. Now you've got one of the best winter tire on the market, all you have to do this winter is watch out for other drivers driving around on worn all-seasons, (keep an eye on your back mirror, because you will be able to stop faster than they will in bad conditions.)
  19. I always buy winter tires on rims for all my cars, being a bit higher up north and going to the ski hills quite a bit, they are a definite must. I bought winter tires on 17" steel wheel last year, 17" definitely fit ( I have an SEL) and I did not pay 100$ for my rims and I have used them for one winter with some long distance driving with no issues at all. I also did not get the TPMS sensors, I personally do not mind the light in the dash that much, and decided not to pay the 60$ per wheel for them. The car will beep and give you a warning once in a while but you can ignore it without any problem. A lot of people I know get tires from the states and then go pick them up at the border, they all claim significant savings. This may be an option for you if you live close to the border. I have done it a few times for other items and it is surprisingly simple.
  20. I was driving a canadian car in england for a year (km/h instead of miles), and I have friends who owns US Car in Canada (miles instead of km/h). You will get used to the conversion pretty quickly and you should be able to follow the speed limits using km/h (for instance, 30 miles is about 50 km/h, 60 miles is about 100, etc). Personnally, I don't think it is worth spending the money to change the speedometer. Also, I believe the cruise control should be able to display your speed in miles on the left screen when you set it up.
  21. According to the Ford website, fold flat front passenger seat is only available as an option on the SEL and Standard on the Sport. It is not available on the SE or the Limited. I think it is strange it is not on the SE since it would make more sense, especially since the fold flat part is manual, not electric (the seat is electric, except for the tilt/fold flat, which is manual). It is very useful, but the back of the seat is in leather, which you have to protect if you are going to carry rough stuff like 2x4, it should have been plastic. Here is a link comparing the model, the fold flat seat is in the interior feature tab. http://www.ford.ca/crossovers/edge/compare-models/?models=se|sel|limited|sport#categoryInterior_Features In my mazda 6, I used to carry long load with the seat folded as far forward as possible and the headrest removed, it was not flat, but worked.
  22. WWWPerfA_ZNOW posted these Dyno graph from K&N, it shows a gain of 9 hp and 9lbft with their Cold Air Intake. http://www.knfilters.com/dynocharts/77-2583_dyno.pdf Source: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/13322-modified-oem-intake-box/page-2?hl=dyno
  23. Well according to this topic they would weight 46 lb each, and the Edge Sport would have the suspension specifically tune for them. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/7124-22-edge-sport-wheels-on-fordpartscom/ But you are right, the OP could shop and find lighter wheel than the stock wheels, as long as he takes it into consideration. This may come at a cost or lower quality wheel. Not all wheels are built equal.
  24. Keep in mind that the 22's will be make it appear as if your edge has less power, due to the weight difference of the wheel. This may sound silly, but different acceleration test have shown that the Edge sport increase in power have for the most part been negated by the weight of the 22's. If you put those on a regular edge (with the 3.5) I suppose the difference would be noticeable. As far as handling goes, it is still a big vehicle, with a high center of gravity and a fair bit of suspension travel, so I am not sure that sidewall difference would be that noticeable. (My expectations being that body roll is the biggest handling differentiator here.) Bottom line is if you want the look and a firmer ride, go with the 22s, but be aware of the possible drop in acceleration and possibly unnoticeable advantage in handling.
  25. The Edge is a pretty thirsty vehicle, but it should be expected when compared with the other SUVs on the market. It is built on a fairly old frame (2005-2006) and is pretty heavy. You compared it to your mustang, but the edge is actually 4000+ lbs. I am in the same boat, because of winter and frequent ski trip, there is no way I would have gotten one that wasn't AWD, so the ecoboost was not an option. Plus I don't really buy into the "turbo everything" hype. GO Habs, haha, I am from Rimouski, about 6 hours east of Montreal.
