  1. Oh, I didn't know that it wasn't a Ranger chassis on the Explorer. Is it just its own? I'm pretty sure that it's a smaller chassis than the F-150's, right? The Edge I test drove had the V6 3.5L. This is it. I think that the Sport Trac had some of its own issues that the regular Explorer didn't share, if I remember correctly. That's what I wanted before I got my F-150. The rollover safety issues are what kept me from it. But that's beside the point. I LOVED how the Edge drove in regards to acceleration, responsiveness, braking. All things engine related-- that was all good. It just wasn't comfortable to me, personally, to drive. I felt a little lower than I'd like to be. I felt like I couldn't see around me. And a little cramped in (for a driver-- I wouldn't have minded as a passenger). I'm fairly short (5'6"), but I had my seat up so high that my head was almost touching the roof. It was subconsciously done at first, I guess to try to get a higher viewpoint of the road. But then I realized how close my head was to the roof, and lowered the seat. I do appreciate you guys trying to sway me back. But I was really gung ho for getting an Edge. I've wanted one ever since they came out with the 07 model. So don't take my change of mind lightly. I understand that some of this could apply to driving any vehicle that is new to you. So I'm going to drive the Explorer and see how it feels. If I realize that any unfamiliar vehicle I try is having the same effect on me-- at that point, I may swing back around to the Edge again. But I think that would be the only way.
  2. I've been dead set on the Ford Edge being my next vehicle since I started looking at it in August. I just had to save up, and find the right one at the right price. But I just took my first test drive with one, and I just didn't like how it felt to drive. Don't misunderstand me, I loved the vehicle. The options, the look (of course), etc. If I was just going to be a regular passenger in the vehicle, I'd have been all for it. And it was very responsive when it came to turning, accelerating, and braking. But it's just the way I felt while driving it. I didn't feel "in command" of the road. Not sure if that makes sense. I'm used to driving my F-150 80% of the time, and my parents' Excursion the other 20%. So I think it's the fact that the Edge is on a car chassis. I'm sure it's something I could eventually overcome. But that said, I'm probably moving past looking for an Edge. So now I have to decide what to look at next. The Explorer is next on my list, for sure. The next to most recent generation (4th), that's 2005 - 2010. It's on the Ranger chassis. So it's a truck, though still smaller than I'm used to. Hopefully it will feel right to drive. Obviously it's not as attractive (to me, at least) as the Edge. But with the right color paint and options, it can still be an attractive vehicle. Like this one I'm looking at: And I would even be open to an Expedition, but it's hard to find a newer one in my price range with less than 70k miles. If anyone has any advice on figuring out what to do from here, I'd be happy to hear it. I guess once this thread goes stale, I'll be signing off this forum. :/ I've enjoyed the community for my short stay, though!
  3. I have a 2000 F-150 Lariat with stone leather, and my parents have a 2003 Excursion Limited with stone leather. We've each had our vehicles for ten years. The leather hasn't faded one bit, and still looks great. I haven't sat in a Ford with black leather yet. So I'm just keeping with stone as I look for my Edge. Edit: oops-- I was thinking stone was the name of the tan colored leather. I guess that is actually called camel. It's the tan color that we both have, not stone.
  4. I didn't realize that other people thought it, too. lol. I guess that's why I was drawn to it, besides liking Ford in the first place. I think the Porsche Cayenne is my second favorite vehicle model of all time. I even went through a short period of seriously considering buying a high mileage Cayenne. My top favorite, of course, being the Aston Martin Vanquish.
  5. She's a beaut. I love how with some of the Sport models, if you take the picture from the back at the right angle, it looks more than a little bit like a Porsche Cayenne. :D
  6. Someone should start a new poll with all of the colors that are now available. There's a lot that aren't on this list from it being made in 2007. Who's going to do it?
  7. Another GA guy! Congrats on your purchase. I'm in Macon. Where did you buy from? I've been looking at two 2010 models above Atlanta. And I just saw that the dark ink blue model I liked was sold from the Honda place above Atl, and it's now at Five Star in Macon. So I'm going to go check it out after my checks come in this week. And maybe take it home. As far as the gnat line.. I have to disagree that it's in Macon. Because when I visit relatives in Telfair county, the gnats are all up in my eyes and ears. But it's not like that here. But gnats are nothing compared to no-see-ums on the panhandle of Florida. Think gnat sized bugs that bite the fire out of you. Constantly, until your ears start buzzing from the stinging. I hate those things. lol.
  8. Well that's mighty nice of you. Does that offer apply to the rest of us? I hope to make my purchase in about two weeks, and I've narrowed it down to two models. Both 2010 SELs just above Atlanta. One is dark ink blue with 48k miles.. the other is sterling grey with 38k miles.
  9. I'm in between buying a dark ink blue or a sterling grey. I'm leaning toward the grey, prices aside.
  10. Where did you start your negotiation? Did you tell them your out the door price, and that you would only negotiate that way? I think that will be my way of negotiating. No, I'm not looking for a sport. I know that I couldn't get one in that price range unless it was high up in mileage. Either an SEL or a Limited-- doesn't matter which as long as it has the features I want. That would be tan leather and power liftgate. That's a short list, but the ones with power liftgate aren't nearly as common as those without it. And my main color choices are dark ink blue or sterling grey. But black, red, and cinnamon are also ones that I'm considering. Silver and white just don't appeal to me that much. There's a 2010 dark ink blue with 49k miles at just under $18k that I'm looking at now. Not CPO. Power liftgate, tan leather, and ambient lighting package. Hopefully it's still available at the end of the month, when I'll have my funds together. I think I'll probably start my negotiations at $16,500. Do you think that's a good place to start it? I don't expect them to go that low. But I don't think they'd take me seriously if I started as low as $16k. Btw, I was curious if the Sport model had any noticeable increase in insurance premium vs the other trims. Do you know?
  11. Well that's good news! I think that's a cool feature. So each time you press the button, it changes the color, until it turns off, right? I thought that it was only possible to get on Limited models. And maybe that's the case for some model years, just not the 2010-- I don't know. This is a 2010 and it's dark ink blue (my first tier color choice, along with sterling grey). 49k miles. Has power lift gate, which is a must have feature for me. And listed a few dollars short of $18k. So hopefully it will still be for sale when I get my funds together at the end of this month! :D Thanks!
  12. Hey guys. I was curious what this button is on this 2010 SEL that I'm looking at online. It's in between the latch for the center console/ armrest and the gear shift. I know that the same button location goes with the color interior LED lighting on Limited models without MFT, but I didn't think that SELs could have that option.
  13. I'm looking for a 2010 in the $19k to $21k range. Even with my being picky (got to have leather), I have at least 25 in a 100 mile radius. Most that come up for me happen to be 2010s, though there's a few other models from other years in there. Congrats on your purchase! Is that a Ford CPO?
  14. In Macon here. This board has a pretty good Georgia representation. No Edge yet. Hopefully next month.
