  1. I had this same problem on my 11 SEL and now same issue on my 11 Sport..... On my SEL they replaced the seat rack and the problem came back! Has there been update on this since? Planning on reporting it when I take my sport in the first time...
  2. Got the car back, I signed off on it without test driving (after all the back and forth I just want the car back). Supposedly they replaced the engine mount, I know there are more than one so I'm not sure which one, most likely the ones on the tranny side. I don't have the paperwork, I don't even care what they did really... Drove the car and both issues still exist. They basically wrote the steering issue off as torque steer (which I still don't believe) and the car still rumbles on reverse acceleration. At this point I just I'm just glad that I don't have to go to this dealership anymore (who sold me a car with a broken strut) and next time I bring it in for maintenance at my regular dealership, I'll bring it up again. If it ever gets repaired I'll let you all know.
  3. Nevermind, the more I read it must be rubber, the other types sound too advanced and high maintenance and I doubt Ford uses them...
  4. What kind of engine mounts does Ford use? I'm reading that there are rubber and hydraulic...
  5. Taking the car back tomorrow to replace engine mount.
  6. It most certainly is and it's making me very anxious. The dealer said next step would be to look at motor mounts but they were very skeptic, problem is they didn't sound like it was gonna get done today (it's been almost 3 weeks taking the car back and fourth and been on 3 test drives already) Now this morning, they called me asking who I gave the car key to, UGH....if they can't find it, I'll have to wait till after work for wife to bring her key and needless to say the car definitely won't get looked at unless they find it!....if they don't make progress today I'm just gonna pull the car out and take it to another dealership...Too much back and forth for too long and it's not fun driving the rental Toyota go cart around town....lol....Need someone new to look at it.. Thank GOODness I don't have to pay for any of this, I'd have a heart attack already LOL
  7. Makes sense but would this only happen when the car is at speeds over 50? I am not experiencing any abnormalities from a full stop or at street speeds (<40mph)
  8. Thanks for that input, I should know better. I'm going to fix that.
  9. I JUST watched this video! after googling before I saw this post. Thanks! cute kid btw lol.... I did not mention this to them but I will next time I'm in contact with them...If they still can't find the issue then I will try exactly what you did when I get the car back. I even thought of getting a go pro and using one of the flex tripods and wrapping it around something under the car to see what is going on... My car is still under warranty so no cost to me. I just want to get this all sorted out in the next 30K miles when the warranty is up.LOL
  10. Today I took a another test drive with the mechanic and shop foreman. I showed them how the steering wheel moved when I just give it gas on the freeway and is fine on the street even when I gun it. All they can say is that it is torque steer, when I try to contest that, because the car does not pull at all, only the steering wheel they say the car is made to not pull. I tried to throw all possibilities at them from what I gathered here but they had a reason for everything, some just did not sit right with me...doesn't make sense to me. This never happened in my SEL and believe me I have given that thing WOT at times! I get that the position that they are in, they say that they've replaced the rack and pinion but I see no difference. Now this new issue, when I put the car in reverse and give it a good amount of gas it there is a "grinding" sound and feel on on my foot , I demonstrated this for them a lot of times on the street and they say it is just the load on the engine. Mechanic got in the driver seat and the feeling they noticed was normal engine load because the engine/car was going in a different direction, they tried accelerating with the car in "manumatic" first gear but it was fine. They even took me into an Edge limited (3.5) to see if it happens, it does not happen in the limited when reversing on the street, reversing up a hill yes but that felt normal, there will load on the engine, understandable...Now I have only noticed this since the other day (and I am very vigilant about what goes with on with my car) when backing up in my drive way (which is, at first a small uphill grade) I heard knock/pop from that side.... They say the only thing they can imagine is the motor mount, then I remembered this post. What's funny is that you have mentioned the motor mount for the steering issue, now they are mentioning the motor mount for the reverse "grinding" issue... Can you explain how the motor mount can be causing one of both of these issues? I cannot see how the motor mount can cause this..
  11. OR, would it be possible to find that rubber tubing *without* those holes that connect the resonator? That would be much easier..
  12. I'm jealous, I have the 2011 and get about 15/18 avg I'll get in the 20's during a long freeway trip, I've seen it average as low as 13.5 when zipping around the streets. I swapped the factory filter for my K&N panel when I bought it 2 months ago but when it came to clean the K&N, the factory filter made no difference in HP or MPG. It was probably just letting more dirt into the engine and someone made a good point about newer cars and the MAF adapting to the added airflow anyway which made total sense to me (but let's save that convo for another thread. I filled my tires to 34psi warm but I still need to check and fill them when cold... Once I get my next oil change while keeping the factory filter, confirm 35psi when cold I'll pay closer attention to MPG and hopefully start getting some better numbers like you. I doubt the 2 year difference in models should account for it but who knows...

    Tire Pressure

I'm definitely not one of those people lol. I keep a tire gauge in my glove compartment. I still need to check my tires when cold though. Thanks all for the input
  14. But it's only in reverse when I moderately accelerate, not while coasting or light acceleration. I'm leaning towards the axle right now, the mechanic said that will be the next thing he replaces and plus that broken right front strut must have been the result of hard impact although I never say any rim damage.. Trying to think if an axle issue would explain the pulling though....
  15. There's another issue, which actually made me glad because it may have something to do with the steering issue. When accelerating backwards, there's a light grinding noise and feel I believe is coming from the right side. So far it only occurs in reverse.

  17. Yes. Even if I let go of the steering wheel and gas, then give it gas the car does not pull, not at any speed. Its of the steering wheel that moves.
  18. Found some other threads mentioning torque steer, everyone reports it on take off but my car is just fine on take off and even when I accelerate hard while rolling down the street at 30mph, nothing...
  19. It's really hard to tell especially when there is a crown in road. I have not tried that yet since the work was done on the car. I'll try that and report back. But let's say there is this torque steer, there has to be a way to fox this right?
  20. I've been reading about torque steer more and I'm still not sure I can rule it out. I've driven plenty of FWD's and have never heard or experienced it, ever...suddenly this seems to be something that is "normal" and I'm seeing all these articles about it and how it just exists. They also said that newer cars should not have these problems because computers should be correcting this issue and manufacturers have proactively addressed the potential issue. So now I am thinking that my pulling has more to do with acceleration and de-acceleration while changin lanes but I am still not sure if this has to do with torque steer because none of this happens at speeds below 60. There is no pull when I accelerate from a full stop, this only happens on the freeway and it's really annoying. Can anyone confirm that this is normal on the sport? Luckily the dealership is still will to work with me but I don't want my car in the shop for another week...
  21. Got the car back and no change. I still notice the pulling when I change lanes. I haven't seen the report yet but the TSB work was done and I believe the steering gear box was replaced. They also replaced the left front strut so now I have two new front struts which I am very happy about, that saves me money in the long run. The mechanic mentioned torque steer but I just don't think it's torque steer. I read up on it, the wheel does not pull when I accelerate from a stop. I only notice the steering wheel move a little left when I take my foot off the gas on the freeway. Also from what I read, newer cars are programmed to compensate for torque steer. he said he even drove another sport and mentioned the wider wheels. They said to drive it around and let them know if I still have the issue, the mechanic said he would probably look into replacing the axle next. My only issue is this dealer is a little out of my way and for the minor issue, I just don't wanna bring it back there. I'm just thinking I wait for my warranty to kick in so i can take to any dealership (my normal spot that's closer to my job) Hopefully I can go to the my regular dealership with the report and they can see what they can do when I take it in for regular maintenance.
  22. Personally I'm not a huge fan of bluetooth in general, I like things to be wired in. I get issues just playing music on my Bose box sometimes from my phone and end up having to reboot my phone (luckily the S6 reboots pretty quick). I guess we're just gonna have to put up with it, if it's the worst of the issues we see with MFT, I'll take it..
  23. LOL So, they said that they are replacing the "steering gear" which sounds to me like the steering gear box and then they will test drive again. Not sure IF THAT was the issue or not. I was in touch with mgr and expressed my impatience with this and run around I was getting and brought up the right strut. He said they will replace the left one also. This time when I get the car back I will inspect and test drive before I sign anything. Good news is I don't have to pay anything, they understand that the car was sold to me like this.
  24. For For the android, the car will recognize the name and picture etc. of the contact saved under "device". With Android if you go a contact, there are different versions, one being the device contact and the google contact and perhaps the facebook contact if they phones sees that the person has a facebook page. So if the name if the contact in question is saved only as a google contact, the car will not recognize the name etc.
  25. Latest update from the mechanic "Steering wheel is offset to the left. Vehicle intermittently pulls hard right., acting as if pressures is intermittently cutting out causing vehicle to randomly pull like it does. Going to put ids on and monitor engine rpms as I turn the wheel to see if there is a significant change in rpms, this should help determine if it may need a rack or p/s pump. I will keep you posted." My last Edge, '11 SEL had issues with it's power steering pump also. It had a leak when we first bought it at 19K (cert pre-owned) and by the time I traded it in it was making a screeching noise when the steering wheel was cut all the way to one side, which I've seen a TSB for and it called for pump replacement. What is most disturbing to me is that this car was a "certified pre-owned" vehicle". I'll never look at these cert pre owned cars the same again.... BUT, the car is under an extended warranty so worst case scenario I pay the deductible, unless somehow I can pin it on them that they sold me the car like that, which they did!
