  1. I think this is more of a design flaw that Ford hasn't learned from than anything. My 1999 F350 has the same known issue and the fix for it was the same which was to spray the latch and work the mechanism. People were saying the same thing about they should do a recall and such for it back then. As far as this cleaning tool, it sounds like they are using a mild electrical current to burn off any junk on the contacts thus cleaning them. I am not surprised that this only lasts a short period of time before the issue returns. I don't have the problem on my edge but if and when it does happen, I know what to do.
  2. Oh yes I messed that. I was thinking you were talking about the 4.3" screen by the speedometer, not the small one in the center. I am new to the edge too but have done a lot of reading on here since I got it. There was mention that Ford stopped using the one size fits all wire harness so like you say, you just need to see if the wires are there or not number one. The next question will be if the head unit has the module for the camera or not. Then is there anything different in the software and so on. Hopefully it is just a matter of adding the camera in the back but until you dig in or talk to someone with Ford that has all the answers it is hard to tell what all would be missing or is different. Sorry I know I am not adding much value here.
  3. As far as trying to get a factory camera to work in the SE, I don't see how you could. The factory camera uses the center MFT screen so how could you have the camera without that screen unless you went aftermarket? That is just the starting point. As far as the SEL without the camera, that is more likely since you have the MFT system but just missing the camera. Sorry I can't answer it more specifically than that but just pointing out the obvious.
  4. Take a look here, http://www.lombardfordaccessories.com/categories/Ford_SUV_Accessories/Edge/Exterior.cfm Fits: 2007 - 2010 Ford Edge Part Number: 7T4Z-17B807-AA Fits: 2011 - 2014 Ford Edge Part Number: BT4Z-17B807-A
  5. Regarding the Navigation, from what I have read here you may not even want to use it once you get it. I use Google maps on my phone which is "live" and it gives you route updates based on traffic so if a faster route becomes available, it will let you know. From what I have read here, the Ford Navigation is pretty bad. Regarding the MP3 files, I just use the Bluetooth connection on my phone to play my music. You launch your music player or online music service (Google Play for me) on the phone and then you use the car controls to adjust volume or to skip forwards or backwards. You can't search for music through the car and still need to change Genres and such on the phone but for sound quality, this is a big advantage. The SEL sound system is pretty disappointing so if you use a USB stick or basic MP3 player, you are stuck with the basic Bass, Mid and Treble controls of the car. Using my phone, I have a program called Viper Audio http://vipersaudio.com/blog/ which dramatically improves the sound. It has a 10 band equalizer along with other options like Viper Base which can make it sound like you have a subwoofer when you really don't. It really is an amazing app. It isn't just a base booster but does some amazing sound processing to even make ear buds sound like there is a subwoofer without any distortion or over driving of the speakers. The point isn't to get people to install this app since not everyone will be able to but to point out that using the phone instead of a USB stick or basic MP3 player can give you much improved sound quality. The stock speaker are some of the cheapest I have seen. Below are some pictures showing the stock front speakers vs the Infinity 682.11cf Kappa speakers that I installed. The rear speakers are the basic Ford speakers that does not have a separate tweeter and looked Identical to the speakers I took out of my 1999 F350. I don't want to sidetrack your thread and if you like how the stock system sounds then use a USB stick or Ipod and be happy. Oh and you are getting a CPO (Certified Pre Owned) vehicle not CAP.You can't go off the website as far as what version MFT it is running. If the previous owner never updated the website or ran a Vehicle Health Report, it will not show what version is actually running in the vehicle. Once I ran the Vehicle Health Report, it updated the website and now shows the current version. It was showing the version when the car was first sold previously to that. I hope you enjoy it once you pick it up! I love mine with the exception of the sound system which I am working on.
  6. Congrats on the new ride! I just got mine and love it! Regarding the registration, I had a really hard time too. I kept typing it what it showed but it kept failing. I am not new to forums either.
  7. I got my 2012 SEL that is fully loaded so it is not to far from the Limited models that I was finding. Actually has more than the limited's like the Panoramic Sunroof and power lift gate. I was looking for a Limited but the dealer called and said they took this one in on a trade in. It had just under 11K on the odo so I couldn't turn it down. Paid just under 26K and is a CPO vehicle. It also has the EcoBoost and I couldn't be happier with how it performs. The only thing that I was really bummed about vs the Limited model was the sound system. I have already installed the Infinity 682.11cf speakers which made a big difference. I am installing a factory sub box and amplifiers so in the end, I should have a pretty good sounding system. So in the end, I am really happy with the SEL!
  8. I can't answer your question but in regards to toying it in Neutral, are you using an auxiliary pump to circulate the transmission fluid? From what I have seen before, you aren't supposed to toy an automatic transmission in Neutral since the fluid isn't flowing and does not lubricate the moving parts. A vehicle with a transfer case that can be put into Neutral wouldn't have this issue. Another option is a FWD vehicle with a toy dolly. Just throwing this out there in case you haven't looked into this. I hope someone else can answer you mileage question. Chris
  9. I am in the process up switching out all the door speakers to the Infinity 682.11cf. I am also buying the stock sub to put in as I just want a full sound image and don't care about massive amounts of base. I will be running all speakers off of separate amps, one for the doors and one for the sub. I am not sure when I will have time to get all this done but I will give an update once I do. I am also thinking about putting in the center dash speaker to help with the sound image as well. I already have some high end Polk 3.5" speakers that I can use for that purpose.
