  1. I finally got my Nautilus. It's a 2019 4 cylinder for cost , but have Ultima package with 22 way seats & premium audio. Pretty much everything else except front camera & self-parking. I very pleased. The 4 cylinder does all I need it to do. It is AWD, but so far no need for that as our winter is over. Has 20,000 on the clock, looks & drives as new. Blue Diamond Metallic exterior, which I really like, and cappuccino interior. This is one really nice car. Very quiet & comfortable. I thought I would use lane keeping a lot, but it's a bit of a pain in the ass. I think I'm able to keep the car in the lane under my own authority , rarely use it now. The sound system is outstanding too. It is a lot more car that the Edge, more so than I expected. It may be the nicest car I've ever had, although I hope to put my old 1992 Mercedes 300SD back on the road sometime this year. It's been dormant in my pole barn for at least 10 years. It's been too long to compare to the Nautilus, but as I recall it's one hell of a car.
  2. Thanks one & all. I'm negotiating for a certified 2019, under 25,000 miles. Most important to me are the comfy seats & 19 speaker audio, though I wish it would have 20" wheels instead of the 21". I decided on the V6 thinking it's better to have more power than I might need, rather than wishing I had more. It's also later in the 2019 production run, with no CarFax red flags. I looked at the self park videos & that looks like a PITA; I wouldn't have the patience to wait that long to get into a parking spot. So that feature is not on the table. The process is under way & we'll see where it goes. It looks like there are a lot more used ones coming on the market now, if this one doesn't pan out there's always another. I expect it to be at least as comfortable as my '17 Edge, and I expect it would be quieter than the Edge as well. A car is too expensive to have buyers remorse so I am being very thorough.
  3. For those of you who have both Edge & Nautilus experience I ask your opinions. I drove a 2013 Edge SEL(V6) for about 100,000 miles, and then a 2017 Edge SEL (V6) for another 100,000. The '17 is my current car. I have enjoyed both cars very much. I am seriously considering selling the Edge & going to a Nautilus, a 2019 or a 2020. I don't like the newer versions because I want a built in CD player & I dislike the huge screen parked in the middle of the dash. No doubt other will like the larger screen, but not for me. So its a '19 or a '20 model. Either a nicely equipped Reserve or maybe a Black Label. Now I have read lots of reviews & it seems that in the 2019 you could get a good one or you could get a bad one. The '20 cars seem to have better reviews. Does anyone have experience here? The second thing I am curious about is the V6 motor vs the 4 cylinder. Coming from 3.5 motors, normally aspirated, I have concerns that the 4 cylinder would be disappointing. I'm not a sprint from one traffic light to the next kind of driver, but I must admit I do like to go fast. Being as a do about 30,000 miles/year I like to get where I'm going without lollygagging around. Is the 4 cylinder a poor choice? I see that there are tunings for the V6, but I didn't see much for the little 4, and even if there is would it really make much difference? I would also be interested in how the 13 speaker Revel system compares to the 19 speaker version. Cabin noise, Edge vs Nautilus? Of course, what about maintenance? Very few issues with either Edge. The only surprise issue is the recent failure of the audio control module. I posted on the Sync forum for assistance & that worked out very well. Total cost for that fix was under $300. Other than that, brakes & oil changes. The Nautilus? Now regarding cost, it looks like a nice '19 V6 with the stuff I want (pretty much loaded) would be at around $45,000. Probably add 3,000 for a '20. I would prefer to keep it down at or below 45,000 and that is possible with the 4 cylinder. Well that's my story & I' stickin' to it. Would love to hear your stories. Thanks, jeff carl
  4. A good report today: ACM sent out on Monday, came home today. Installed and everything works! While the ACM was out, I had the parking brake malfunction bugging me every day, and mid week the GPS lost its bearings. I'm between Rochester & Buffalo, to the south, but yesterday on my way home from work in Rochester GPS had me traveling in Lake Erie just slightly west of Buffalo. It was showing me in motion, it just had my position way off. Good thing I can swim. So I was very concerned that something else went cattywampus. I was very pleasantly surprised when everything returned to normal. It wasn't a very difficult job. There is an excellent youtube video showing exact removal procedure here: ACM Removal LINK The first 10 minutes covers it. He's actually replacing the 4" screen to an 8", they offer this as a kit. Special Thank You to jmr061 (jason), Haz, and enigma-2 for taking your time and offering sound advice & assistance. I sent the unit out for repair to ebay vendor pcbimprovement in Collegeville PA. Pavel there did exactly what his listing said: repaired it with 24 turn around, no reprogramming necessary. If anyone needs an ACM fixed I can recommend Pavel without reservation. Happy motoring jeff
  5. Yes, and checked twice. I haven't got back into the bowels of it yet. I probably disturbed a connection in there somewhere. Rule: Always look at the last thing you did.
  6. I removed the ACM this afternoon. Not a bad job at all. Sending it off to Collegeville PA tomorrow for their fix. I put stuff back together so I have heater controls. It drives fine & and everything seems to work, well almost everything: The only issue I have now is I have a parking brake malfunction on the dash & the chime that goes along with that; the parking brake doesn't work. I tried cycling the power on & off a few times, without actually starting & the actually starting, but no joy. I also disconnected the battery for a couple minutes but that didn't work either. Any ideas?
  7. Well here I am nearly 3 weeks with no progress yet. Does anyone know, if I pull my existing module & send it out, can the car be driven without the module for the four or five days until it comes back & I reinstall it?
  8. You guys are awesome, thank you so much! Once complete I will let you all know how how I proceeded & how it went. What a helpful community, thanks again jeff
  9. And assuming I get a same part number replacement unit from a junk yard, will it need to be reprogrammed once its' installed?
  10. Thank you JMR. That's what I'll get to replace the misbehaving one. I am curious about the differences between the units with differing 2 letter codes at the end.
  11. I have no audio in my 2017 edge SEL with the nav screen. Dealer tells me it's the Audio Control Module, which is also the CD player. I'm in the Rochester NY area & we have a good used parts vendor, Wilberts. They have these ACM units, but there are a few varieties, and I don't know what differences are. The part could be a FT4T-19C107-KD or FT4T-19C107-HD. There are also some others, the differences being the last two letters of the part ID. My VIN is 2FMPK3J87HBB88584 if that sheds any light on it. Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks jeff carl
  12. I didn't think that the Edge had active cancellation. I thought that was in the Escape only, but I didn't do any serious research. All I did was install a set of speakers in the front doors, no amp or sub-woofer. The OEM connectors are unique & I couldn't find ready made adapter harnesses, so I just cut the OEM connectors & hard wired the replacement speakers. I'm sorry but that's the extent of my knowledge.
  13. Hello all, I just replaced my 2013SEL with a 2017SEL. The only thing I did to the '13 was to upgrade the front door speakers. I had excellent advice from member Kanatronic here on this board. He advised a pair of DLS speakers with crossover. I have been very pleased with those. So I pulled them from the '13 and was ready to put them in the new ride, but I'm a bit lost in the weeds. First of all, my new car is an SEL with regular (not Sony) audio, Sync3 & nav (Technology Package). I pulled the right front door panel and found the weird OEM speaker with a 4 wire plug going to it. Four wires? Not only 4 wires, but continuity between all 4, so that threw me a curve. Pressing on I see from the 132-4 diagram posted at the beginning of this thread that the main speakers have 2 wires, WH-VT & WH-OG. Now on the OEM plug the outer wires are WH-VT and WH-OG. This correctly corresponds to the diagram. The inner 2 wires are VT-OG ans YE-OG. These correspond to the tweeter wires in the diagram. Now the diagram is for a Sony system & mine is just plain jane, so I don't know if that makes a difference, but I don't understand why the tweeter wires would go to the 6 1/2" speaker when there is a separate tweeter, which does have the same 2 color coded wires on its plug. Well I figured I'd give it a try, so I connected the outer 2 wires (for the main speaker) directly to my DSL speaker woofer & ground terminals. It did work, but the volume was really low; so low that it just didn't seem right. When I put those DSL speakers in the 2013, they were just right, no issues at all. Anyway at that point I decided to stop before I burned something up, put the OEM speaker back in, and ask here for help. HELP: 1. How would I wire in my DSL speaker & crossover? That is assuming they are compatible with car. 2. Does my car have active noise reduction? Or is that just on the Sony system or Titanium? If it has ANR, does that prevent changing out the speakers? 3. Why would my DSL speaker have such a low volume compared to the El Cheapo OEM? As much as I like a nice sound system, I'm just not up for the amount of work that HappyHourSport has done to his car. I have no doubt that the sound is fantastic, but I just don't have it in me to go that far with it. I would guess that if the DSL speakers can be done in the front doors, I should maybe replace the center dash speaker as well. I don't think my car has a sub, so that dash speaker is probably the woofer unit. Would that be right? Recommendation for the front dash speaker? How ugly is it the swap it out? Anyway, here's a few photos. The head unit to clarify my system, The OEM speaker connection, The speaker plug with the 4 color coded wires, The DSL speaker showing ground woofer & tweeter terminals, and finally the crossover. Any help would be seriously appreciated. Thanks jeff

    OEM Parts

Hello Fellow Edgers Is there a preferred source for OEM parts at a nice discount? I thought Levittown was a sponsor here and offered members a discount, but no joy finding them posting anything. I need intake & cabin air filters for my Edge & Fusion. Can't bring myself to buy junk import stuff, and list price is a bit much. thanks jeff
  16. Some of you guys fly some beastly airplanes! No military background here, just watched the airplanes fly in & out of my hometown airport in the 60's & early 70's. At that time Kutztown PA was a pretty busy little airfield. Always wanted to fly but didn't take the plunge until '84 in Williamson NY with the great instructor Vernon Tyrrell. Bought the Stinson 108-2 on the field & flew that for maybe 20 years. That was Katie, and she went to a Harrier pilot in Cherry Point. Then flew a Bellanca Viking for a few years before the 310 (Jimmy) I now have. And Finally, one of my favorite aviation images Cheers All jeff Oh, yeah....2013 Edge. Great Car!
  17. The wheels came out really nicely too. Road grime & brake dust are tough to clean off. Sweet!
  18. There is an old adage that says "There's no replacement for displacement". I prefer the simplicity of normally aspirated (no turbo). Less stress on the internal components, no turbo to be concerned about, no worries with sludge, etc etc. Having said all that I have had many turbo'd cars over the years. From MB diesels to a couple modern Passats. I have never had a turbo failure, but I have always been mindful of the equipment. I would always run premium synthetic Mobile 1, change oil religiously on schedule, and allow spool down after hard driving. There are 2 Fords in our family at the moment: my wife's '13 Fusion 1.6 turbo & my '13 Edge 3.6 non turbo 6 cyl. No issues with either, but less than 40k on each odometer. The Fusion gets about 27 mpg on relatively short (15 mile round trip) rural country trips. While I am about 25/26 on my daily 90 mile commute in Mr Edge. I also got 29 mpg on a longer trip recently. So the 6 can give good performance & mileage if driven conservatively. If city driving is in the cards, the 6 is probably not good. The modern technology of smaller turbo'd motors is pretty darn good, but I would still go for displacement over turbo. I confess I'm old school, really old ;<)
  19. Hey that's pretty good for AWD. I have no idea what my city only would be, but it clearly isn't the best car for city. I expect about what you have at around 14.
  20. Well here I am about a year further down the road, so I'm updating. My normal commute routing has not changed, but I am now up to about 24 to 24.5 mpg. There's about 33,000 on the clock now. I took a road trip recently from my home in Wyoming NY down to Westchester NY (north of NYC), and got a very acceptable 29mpg. I am very pleased with this car in every respect.
  21. My cousin has one of these, coming from a Pacifica I really like it. I still prefer my Edge for my purposes now, but if he wanted to gift it to me with his gas card, I'd help him out & take it off his hands (being the magnanimous guy that I am)
