  1. Cds71, can't say that I noticed anything unusual in the steering on straight-line heavy acceleration, or exiting a traffic circle or merging onto an Interstate at speed. With <100 miles on it, maybe I haven't pushed the Sport hard enough yet. Acceleration away from traffic lights is, IMO, quite striking, and I have no qualms about pulling out into a busy road. (Not stupid either, just saying.) No sense of any hesitation. FWIW, before garaging the Sport tonight, I took fore and aft pictures with lights on. The door was open in the front shot. The HID lamps are incredible. If anyone can't see the rear lights on approaching, that person is legally blind or totally drunk. Two photos are added to the Dropbox (link above). HTH.
  2. Cds71, I don't have my engineering degrees from Ford yet. I can't properly answer your question about the torque steering. I can say I find steering is quite responsive for my suburban and rural driving. FWIW I have "tested" both the D and S modes going quickly around an empty local traffic circle (aka a rotary), and my perception is that the S mode is a bit more responsive. No measurements, just a feeling based upon driving since since 1957. While I loved the very good 2006 Escape XLT I traded in, the Sport's handling is a quantum jump forward. The Sirius connection came through, and the setup was easy enough albeit a bit time-consuming. Setting the preset for each AM/FM/Sirius station requires toggling between a "direct enter" screen and a "preset" screen for each preset entered. The "surround" setting sound on FM HD reception produces amazing sound. Glad you and WWWPerfA_ZN0W liked the photos. They were taken with my Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone camera, HDR mode, no post-processing. Obviously we haven't put any mileage on the Sport in 2 days since delivery, but my wife and I really like it. We loved the fully-loaded 1993 Thunderbird Super Coupe we had, but the 2015 Sport is a brave new world.
  3. Ducrider, I just picked up my special order Sport on Monday. Switching the 4-position lamp switch to "autolamps" apparently turns on the lights outlining the scoops at the corners at the bottom of the front fenders. Looks smart from what I saw reflected in a store window. Unless the Edge was a fleet order, DRLs are not an option. Good luck with the new car. My wife and I really like ours.
  4. My bad. Eyes glaze over at times. Perhaps it should be added to the TOC for the next printing. But the explanation is sorely lacking. What system and what information? Does the toggle affect the dash/steering wheel menus and the center console display? Sounds pretty onerous if one has to call an 800 number in case of a schmozzle.
  5. Looking through the left display menu in the Sport's dash, there is a "valet mode" that can be toggled. I assume it sets or locks out functions if the car is to handed over to a parking lot attendant. Is a data sheet available? I can't find any mention of the "valet mode" in the owner manual. What gets turned off and/or on? Any settings options? TIA.
  6. The photos are too many and too large to attach here. They are in my public Dropbox. Link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/s7qrwfqfgl2deqa/AAAHRqxXmEG29ld8KtHTfUMta?dl=0 Questions, please ask... HTH.
  7. Have already done so, Rebecca, thanks. I can tell the account I'd working as the maps popped up. Spent some time programming AM/FM radio, but Sirius didn't recognize the new ESN. A couple of keyboard chats hopefully fixes that, but I won't know until later today to see if their activation works. I'm waiting for my engineering degrees from Ford... heh.
  8. Picked up the Sport late today, but too late to take pictures. Had to return old plates to MV after being shown some of the basic controls. I need to go back to school for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering degrees. :-) I'll try setting up Sync and Sirius stuff tomorrow, plus photos. First impressions on the 20-minute ride home: quiet, powerful (caught myself cruising at 75 thinking I was doing 40), acceleration beyond anything I expected from this size vehicle, braking is sensitive and will give one change of a dime. Vista roof is amazing. And the neatest thing is the front camera that showed me exactly how far I could pull the Edge into the garage without knocking into stuff at the back wall. Synced my new Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone Bluetooth immediately on first try, uploaded the contact list (quick) and made a test phone call with voice commands. The logic was smart enough to ask me which number (home or mobile) to call, and the radio muted automatically while I was on the phone.
  9. Build date was April 17. Tricia at FordService on these forums told me ETA was April 28 to Medford (NJ) Ford, Philadelphia region. (Thanks, Tricia!) What are you waiting for?
  10. Will do, but they will have to wait until I pick up the vehicle. I was in the way with the convoy truck unloading vehicles and the moving of product around the back lot. Although I've been their customer since 1979, I appreciated the opportunity to wander in where most buyers wouldn't be permitted. For those who came in late, it is a FWD Sport with the 401A option package and the vista roof. Went with the Sport's standard 20" wheels, which in the photo above are hidden by the plastic rim covers attached while in transit.
  11. Geez, hope it isn't something major. Curious minds want to know. My Sport was delivered to the dealer today, and I'm picking it up Monday or Tuesday.
  12. Xzilon http://www.xzilon.com/ is a finish protection for the car finish and interior. Talking at length with the new car prep person who detailed my wife's Mustang (he said he recognizes how well we take care of our cars), he loves the product. Bugs and dirt don't embed in the finish, interior stays cleaner. Reading reviews online, comments seem positive. Since the dealer charge is less than 1% of the vehicle cost and there is a 5-year warranty, what the heck... go for the gusto. :-)
  13. Today I stopped at the dealer to thank the new car prep person for the wonderful detail job on my wife's 2007 Mustang yesterday. My sales person came out the door and said "don't get out... just drive around back." There it was, the Sport just off the convoy truck 30 minutes earlier. Whoa... It sparkles in the sun. The wave-the-foot trick to open the hatch is very, very cool. I took a couple of quick pics, avoiding the chaos of dropping and moving new cars around. A number of sales and service persons came out to look at it. We'll pick up on Monday or Tuesday after dealer prep and the Xzilon treatment is applied.
  14. WWWPerfA_ZN0W, thanks for the information on how to send a PM. Don't know why that escaped me, but I'll attribute it to the dust covering the brain. PeterD, if you enter your VIN at https://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do the build date will be shown if the vehicle is completed and off the assembly line. My lookup now shows a date of April 17. Otherwise a dummy date is displayed. Enter your VIN at http://researchmaniacs.com/VIN-Number-Lookup/WindowSticker/Ford.html to get a window sticker. At least on my tablet, the facsimile sticker automatically downloads as a PDF file. From what I read and think I understand, the sticker won't be generated until the vehicle is close to being finished on the assembly line. Your salesman can look up your order on his terminal to see where the build process is. In my case, my special order was in paint during the second week of April. I haven't found any source on line to show the build process, and that doesn't surprise me. Hope this helps.
  15. Ruby Red Sport, FWD, with the 401A option package, vista roof, HID lights. Looking forward to its arrival. Today started to empty the 2006 Escape XLT that I'm trading in.
  16. Thanks for the offer, Tricia. Sadly, I have never figured how to send a PM here, and I'm not on FB.
  17. FWIW I ordered an Edge Sport FWD with 401A package and moonroof on January 2. VIN ends in 30035. I was able to download a window sticker from FordEtis on April 20. Hopefully it should arrive around the end of the month. I test-drove a 2014 Titanium, and looked at my dealer's first 2015 SEL. Wife and I have been buying new Fords since 1965, and from Medford Ford since 1979. IMHO a local family-owned dealership cannot be beaten. I kid the guys that my stock dividends and share price could be a bit better, but at least the dividend rate has been bumped up recently. We’re looking forward to the new toy. The new technology is rather different, compared to my first (used) 1953 Ford.
  18. FWIW my incoming Sport FWD VIN ends 30035. I ordered it on January 2 and hoping it arrives in NJ in 7-10 days. Good luck with the new Edge. Looks good in your photos.
  19. I think I read elsewhere a vehicle is off the assembly line when you can print a window sticker online. If that's true, then FordEtis [ http://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do ] is showing my Ruby Red Edge Sport with the 401A group and Vistaroof is built. Spring has sprung here with trees and plants budding, and we're looking forward to some traveling. Woof!
  20. This afternoon I took my wife's 2007 Mustang (37k mi) in for a bulb replacement, and had a chance to look over a black 2015 Edge SEL that arrived yesterday. I like the interior room -- glad I stepped up from an Escape I was considering -- and fit and finish look good. I didn't road test it as it was a rainy day around here. I found out my Sport is in paint, and delivery should be around the end of the month. I guess the paint time takes a number of days. Things are in motion now, so I must be patient.
  21. Bump. I'm looking forward to the new Sport around the end of the month. With the VIN, is there a web site that shows and explains status, schedule and build/built dates? And is my assumption correct that window sticker prints aren't available until the vehicle is off the assembly lines? Thanks in advance.
  22. Perhaps I have partially answered my own question with the Q&A in this forum. http://www.fordtransitusaforum.com/dealers-purchases-orders/3642-track-ford-vehicle-vin-thru-build.html The postings on the first page are the clues. Entering my VIN, I get the dummy build date of 30.11.0002 that suggests to me that a status date and build date have different meanings. Guidance, pointers, tips, help... all welcome.
  23. OK, today the dealer gave me a VIN for the Edge Sport I ordered on January 2. Status date 3/24 and ETA week *4/27. I assume the *=estimate. I found a site that decodes the VIN but I thought I also could track progress of building and shipping somewhere. Blind alleys abound. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
  24. Well, I checked with my dealer today and no schedule yet. Boo... So far as the $F share price is concerned, the overall market is being affected by the strengthening $ against the € and the oil glut. Given Ford's overseas investments, no surprise... but no worries either. Nor do I think the forthcoming small interest rate increase by the Fed will materially affect the market. I just let the shares accumulate.
  25. Mmick, it was nice to see the Edge Sport moving in the video. I couldn't tell what wheels were on the vehicle in the video, but otherwise -- if that is the Ruby Red color-- it is the Sport model I am expecting, differing in FWD and the Sport standard wheels. Sticker around $45k. Looking forward to getting it. I saw Tweets from writers who have yet to write their series of reviews, so the search results should changing daily. By the time the Edge arrives, the Ford stock dividend should reinvestment should give me another 400 shares or so, I'll take it.
