  1. I have a 2015 Edge and had the entire roof liner replaced due to manufacturing defect last year. I have a rattle that is in the midpoint of the roof on the passenger side that seems to occur most often when I am driving on the freeway in windy or buffeting winds. The rattle is there whether the roof is open or not. I noticed that the side panels next to the roof are very loose and there is a potential for wind to get underneath those panels and cause the rattle. I mentioned this to my dealer, when he had the vehicle for almost 5 days and they say there is no rattle. I listened to that rattle on and off for two weeks while on a driving trip and it is very aggravating. I am experimenting with some foam to see if I can stablize those panels and eliminate the rattle, will followup
  2. I have a 2015 Edge SEL, purchased in July 2015, Color: Guard. On the up side: This is probably the best car I have driven in a long, long time. I have two major trips; one to Mexico for 3,000 miles and one in the US at 5,500 miles and the vehicle is quiet, tracks well on the highway, lot's of power, get's excellent gas mileage (Ecoboost 4), has very good features and accessories. I would definitely buy one again. I really, really like the appearance of the unit and have blacked out all the chrome including the wheels. On the down side: The Navigation system is absolutely terrible and out of date, the driver's power seat will not allow "tilting" forward of the seat without the seat being forward in the track, I had the dashboard replace twice for blistering and the headliner replaced because the fabric wasn't fully installed, the voice command system is complex to use and won't work with the sunroof open, and the sunroof rattles in gusty winds on the highway, the rear seats don't fold flat. With the exception of the Navigation system, most of these things are minor inconveniences and I got great support from my dealer on the dashboard and headliner issues.
  3. I have a 2016 Edge purchased in July 2015 and here are some issues I have with Sync: The navigation system is the worst I have used, it has severe routing problems and doesn't have streets and highways that have been existence for years. You cannot use voice commands to enter a waypoint after you have entered a route and are driving. The POI data is hopelessly outdated. The traffic information does not reflect condtions that exist. The whole voice command structure is complex and the unit asks redundant questions and because the microphone is located at the sunroof you frequently can't use voice commands with the roof open. This is in comparison to a 3 year old Garmin GPS in which all of these issues (except occasional routing problems) don't exist. I am going to abandon using this unit as not only is it extremely expensive to buy, but you have to pay for map updates, my $130 Garmin has lifetime maps at no cost and much better, up-to-date information. My Ford maps were hopelessly out of date when I bought the car. Climate Control seems to have a very wide span of temperature control and doesn't provide a consistent temperature. The "I" feature doesn't allow enough time to answer questions and frequently hangs up on you when you aren't quick enough and you have to be really quick. The entertainment system works very well including BT music and USB music devices and is easy to use. The one weakness is that in Sirius you cannot move from 1 - 2 - 3 channel groupings with voice control.
  4. I have had my wheels painted for about a year and 20,000 miles of driving with no issues. The grill and chrome strip around the windows is also done and have had some chipping on the grill, but touchup is easy and not a problem.
  5. I have an SEL and painted the grill, the side window trim (chrome), and the polished wheels with Flexidip. So far, after 3 months and driving in a lot of rain it is holding up well. It is easy to spot fix if it does get damaged. Using Flexidip really cuts down on masking as you can have overspray on the paint and it simply lifts off. I am so anti chrome I even did the exhaust pipe tips and they have held up very well.
  6. I decided that before my neighbors lynched me constantly setting off the emergency button while bending over or working in the house and garage to go inside the remote and cut the small silicone rubber nipple tip shorter and have had no more problems.
  7. I have the Travel Link available on my 2015 SEL and after trying it twice have given up. First it frequently gets "lost" and cannot be used. I find the response time when using it so short I cannot respond in time to not have it hang up on me. Third and not least, but really weird is I can talk in a normal tone and the MyTouch functions usually work fine, but the Travel Link has a great deal of trouble "hearing" me, even if I raise my voice. I can go from system to the other and the MyLink won't hear me. I have also found the weather feature to be very bizarre as it has very little weather station info. So I use my phone to do the same functions. I ask myself why the automakers don't make a dock for either or both Android and Apple devices and let us use readily available processes and programs that work very well. $$$ might be the answer.
  8. Glad to hear that no one has seen problems. My suspicion is when they replaced the first dash and pulled the replacement from stock it may well have been made at the same time as the original and therefore may have had the same issue. It may also have something to do with some stress on the part when it is packaged. I have not mentioned the re-occurance to the dealer yet, but I am not expecting any issues with them. I am going to ask them to check with FMC to make sure the issue has been resolved with the supplier.
  9. Couple of comments: 1. It is not user friendly at all and gets "lost" as well as not allowing any time to answer the myriad questions it asks. I think it gives you about 3 seconds to answer and then either nags you or hangs up. 2. The weather is not "local" even though there are many on line weather apps that provide weather exactly where you are. 3. Frequently it will not hear me when I talk, even though I talk at the same speed and volume that I use with the Navigation System. I find it interesting that Ford has their own proprietary APPs which for the most part don't work very well (especially the navigation system which is a mess) and doesn't use standard Android or Apple Apps. I guess they think they are going to make more money this was, they are wrong!
  10. Please find photos attached. You can see the blister clearly in the photo, it is a bit harder to visually observe so look at your dash at a shallow angle and you will see the deflection if there is any. The spots are also softer than the surrounding dashboard material as well. The view behind the storage cubby shows the front piece actually sticking up with about a 1/16" gap and it should actually be seated below the back of the cubby. There is also one place where the front piece is slightly raised in front of the driver. There are NO attachment points near the cubby so the deflection can change with temperature and if the part is somehow deformed or not molded properly it will not fit.
  11. I have the 2.0 Turbo in my SEL and have been very happy with acceleration, fuel economy, and quietness. I drive in the mountains in Southern California all the time and the engine rarely shifts down while climbing. Mileage is lower than the EPA estimate even with cruise on and on a flat interstate. I now have about 8,000 miles on the engine and am looking forward to see how the oveall reliability is.
  12. I have a 2015 SEL and had the dashboard top replaced because it had a blister on the passenger side of the storage bin. I now noticed a blister on the passenger side near the joint with the hard plastic panel that has the defroster grills and headlight sensor in the new dashboard cover. Each blister is about 1" in diameter. I am wondering if anyone else is having this problem, it is difficult to see the blisters with the black dashboard material and would encourage everyone to take a look and see if they have the problem. The delamination will not improve with time. The other question I have, is after the dashboard was replaced it seems like the defroster panel doesn't seat properly and I noticed it doesn't have enough clips to keep it flat (in sunlight) and the center area is completed unconnected and loose.
  13. I am not short 5' 10" and have the full power seat on the driver's side and find it to be very uncomfortable. When you try to lower the front of the seat the seat moves forward, too far forward. As a result it restricts the blood circulation to my feet. I had a rental Explorer in which the power seat actual lowered in the front without affecting the distance backward that the seat moves. Another issue for me is the lumbar support doesn't seem to completely deflate and causes me some back discomfort. Laterally I don't have a problem with the seat, but my only relief right now is to have the seat almost on the "floor" and then I get some leg relief, but it is so low I am not comfortable driving. Bit weird that the Explorer seat is so adjustable and the Edge is not
  14. I was shopping for running boards for my 2015 SEL with Ecoboost - quite a challenge. I contacted three suppliers for DeeZee running boards one of the very few companies that has boards that fit the Ecoboost. I ordered them from an internet site and received the running boards in a few days, but not the brackets. I got my money back as they said it would be several weeks to a month before I got the brackets. I talked to three other dealers and I couldn't get a commit date from any of them for the brackets. I then went to a San Diego Off road/Pickup Truck location and ordered Owens Running Boards and got them in about 3 or 4 days. They went in perfectly and I am very impressed with the product and ease of installation. I would recommend when installing to put ALL the brackets on the chassis before doing the subsequent steps in the installation instructions unless you have a very high lift in your garage. I wish they would stick out a bit further, but the plastic bolster on the bottom of the door sticks out pretty far.
  15. I purchased my Edge SEL on 3 July (06354) and when I logged into the Ford Owner site immediately received a notice about the leaking (never had a notice mailed). I was quite upset that I wasn't told by the dealer or fixed prior to pick. Sales Manager's response was he didn't know why I was upset!! He also said I wasn't entitled to a loaner car during the repair. The dealership did promptly take the unit in and do the repair. We are in Southern California so I had limited exposure to rain water, but a couple of car washes and never had an issue before or since. I will keep you posted if there is a change. The service department did a good job responding and taking care of me during the repair (2 days) with a rental car. I think the sales people selling me a car with a known defect, not fixing it before delivery, and then lying to me and saying they didn't know about it is at best unethical and worst is illegal in my mind.
