  1. Awesome, thank you!!! I can understand the door locking bit (wouldn't want someone to drive your car off), and I'd assume the app would let you lock the doors (or auto-lock) and then start. But you never know how people program/develop these things. LOL!
  2. OK, so apparently my other two cars I'm looking at behave a bit different. 1) The Hyundai's use Blue Link for smartphone remote start. Fine, but it requires that the vehicle be locked (can't remote start it if the doors aren't locked), AND while it's running, it flashes your hazard lights the entire time, which apparently causes all sorts of issues for people as they get phone calls from security and whatnot about their vehicle being parked without anyone in it and the hazard lights flashing. There's no way to disable this on the Hyundai short of using after-market remote starters. 2) Kia Sortento -- well it doesn't have this ability natively. It has remote start, but not via smart phone. Aftermarket required. Sooo, Does the Ford Edge require that all 4 doors be locked? And does it flash your hazards the entire time? I know that the Cadillac's (SRX) doesn't flash the hazards, but apparently the Toyota's do the same as the Hyundai.
  3. Thanks all! I'd somehow forgotten that it was part of the Driver's Package (the Adaptive Steering itself is listed separately and before the Driver's package on Ford's website). both items are $1800 add-on, so obviously the Driver's Package would be the one to get (since it has the Adaptive Cruise Control, which is one of the items on my "must have" list). So it sounds like, for me, I'd probably notice it (and then get used to it) since I have to drive in and out of a parking garage 5 days a week and lots of turning and stuff.
  4. This may be more accurate than Edmunds since I think they have a "deal" (just like Truecar) as they get a certain dollar amount for cars sold through their service: https://www.carbuyingtips.com/car4.htm Scroll down until you find the: Fighting Chance package. Truecar and Edmunds "invoice" pricing isn't necessarily accurate as they generally don't list any of the special dealer incentives/holdbacks. In fact, you'll see that a lot of times, Truecar's "price" is actually well below the "invoice" price, mainly because of their "invoice" pricing not having all the discounts. Although in all honesty I have no knowledge about the Fighting Chance stuff yet. I'll be doing that around end of October and we'll see what it shows, but by then it'll be 2017 Ford Edge model year for me. Good luck!!! Hope you get a sweet deal!
  5. Rats, I forgot that it doesn't turn on automagically. I used an IFTTT with the tag thingy (but I think that required NFC) so that when I put it in the car holster (one of those that mount on the dash/windshield and you charge it). I'll post the name of the app I used (in my case, I had--still have-- the Samsung Galaxy S4 which is notorious for Bluetooth issues after the Android upgrade) - so had to use a third party app to enable both BT profiles (the Galaxy S4 has a nasty habit of turning BT on, but only enabling one profile, and my Pioneer Head Unit wants/needs BOTH of them). I will say my iPhone is 800% better on battery than the Android. (obviously there ARE other drawbacks).
  6. So, for those of you with a 2016 Edge *with* Adaptive Steering: Impressions? The way I heard it described, it sounded like at lower speeds, it would compensate so that you didn't have to turn the wheel as much, and it was easier to turn (ie, in parking garages, or pulling in/out of parking spaces), and at higher speeds, it would adjust itself since you're moving faster? It's a $1500 add-on and it seems on the 2016 Titanium trim, it's almost impossible in my area to find one (with AWD, Turbo, and 302A package with 19" wheels), so I'm debating if it's something I can "live without". LOL. Since none of the competitors that I'm looking at (Kia Sorento, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport) offer it either, I *think* I can deal without it, but wanted some real world input. Thanks!
  7. Do you have Android? I had an app that would automagically connect/disconnect the BT to save on the battery. It was a free app. If you have iOS, it "just works" and doesn't suck the battery like Android does. At least on my iPhone 6s. Otherwise you could also use IFTT (If this then that). You can even get these little tags and put one in your car and when the phone gets near it (although it may require NFC, I don't recall) it kicks off the task.
  8. ooh, even worse (read the quotes that the guy took off the recorded conversation): http://www.f150forum.com/f118/cooling-seats-issue-tsb-feedback-304154/index416/#post4857467 Sounds like GM and my POS Chevy. Basically Ford doesn't care and apparently thinks it doesn't affect the value of the vehicle when something that's advertised doesn't work without a $400-500 third party fix. JUST like my '05 Equinox (over-powered amp makes loud hissing noise and the only fix was to replace with aftermarket unit at my expense).
  9. Tell me about it. What I find surprising is that there's not a lot of complaints (apparently) about this. Although I'm looking at the Titanium, perhaps the lower trim levels (that are the "lease deals" and whatnot) just don't have the heated/cooled seats and therefore, not many people notice it? I mean I don't see how you could *not* notice it, if you turned it on. I wonder if all the people with the problem start complaining to the NHTSA or the BBB. Maybe that would light a fire under Ford. I mean seriously, the guys over at the F150 forum are working with Ford and it seems that basically Ford doesn't give a crap.
  10. Well looks like Ford won't be fixing anything until 2018 at the earliest. http://www.f150forum.com/f118/cooling-seats-issue-tsb-feedback-304154/index410/#post4839095
  11. Given this: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/20894-ford-bolsters-availability-of-sync-3-plus-apple-carplay-android-auto;-tech-offered-on-all-2017-model-year-cars-suvs-light-trucks-and-electrified-ve/ I'd think that they'd be having the update for the 2016 model fairly soon. Especially since what, August 24 or something is the last day to order a 2016 Edge? I'm very curious to see how well Ford integrates it into the Sync 3 system. So far all the vehicles/head units I've looked at, it's a "separate" item. Meaning you have to manually switch between the infotainment system and Carplay (and vice versa). You can't like push a button and speak to the car/head unit and have it switch between everything. Once you're in Carplay, you can have Siri do things, via Carplay (but it's NOT Siri Eyes Free, unfortunately). And then if you want to get to the infotainment system again (ie: Sirius/XM/FM/AM, you have to fiddle with the controls/touchscreen in order to do so). Not sure about AA.
  12. Great! So did you have to buy the 2-way remote and the security modules as well?
  13. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2016-ford-edge-review LOL! I thought this sounded familiar (I thought a few others had reported the car dying like this, but thought it was the 2015 model year).
  14. I think all vehicles with a sun/moon roof do that. At least every vehicle I've been in will do that at some certain speed. In my 2005 chevy it does that unless I open the window a crack--especially around 40 mph.
  15. I was thinking it might be worth it for the smoother ride. Especially if I'm going to keep it for 12+ years. (Barring any sudden lottery winnings--LOL)
  16. Even better, thanks! The "build" on the Ford site indicated the same, albeit the $895 price increase to "downgrade" to 18" wheels.
  17. I think only the front seats are supposed to cool. AFAIK, rear seats are heated only (but I could be wrong).
  18. Oh, I will have to double-check that. Thanks!
  19. I've had good luck with the Metra Axxess products. Both in wiring harnesses and their AWSC-1 (I think that's the part #) steering wheel module. Only complaint I have is that the steering wheel module doesn't plug into their own wiring harness to get the ground or power. I had to tap into the existing ground. It should be easy enough to get a crimp-on end and plug it into the wiring harness if you want it more nice. But I don't know if they make one for the 2010 Edge. I imagine they do. PAC Audio is another vendor.
  20. I noticed on the ford website, you can optionally get the 18" wheels instead of the 19" ones? Is that true/correct? Any downside (other than price) for the 18" wheels? Ironically the 19" seemed more harsh than the 18" SEL I test drove.
  21. Hopefully they'll get it fixed in the 2017 and back-ported (haha) to the 2016/2015. Although if that guy managed to figure out how to fix it with (I think) 3D printed parts, surely Ford could just look what he did and probably engineer it a lot cheaper in bulk? And here's a neat recap indicating Ford isn't interested in fixing the issue, unfortunately. http://www.f150forum.com/f118/cooling-seats-issue-tsb-feedback-304154/index409/
  22. OK, I only test drove the Hyundai as the Kia dealership didn't have the SXL v6 yet (only the SX). Now, when I test drove the Ford, I had the AC in face only mode, and after sweating my back, I turned it to foot/face mode. All that did was freeze my butt off. I felt nothing cool at all coming through the back (and it was that was for a good 20 + minutes). Now, on the Hyundai, it wasn't as hot that day, so I only had face only mode on. The butt didn't cool as much as the Ford, but maybe if I'd put it in foot/face mode it would have. The back did ventilate/cool, albeit not as much as the butt.
  23. OK, so the Kia dealership I like (there's another i don't care for) doesn't have the 2017 Sorento SXL v6 (just the SX). So they'll call me when those are in (it did just come out in like May). The Hyundai dealership had the AWD 2.0 Turbo but not with the tech package (which is fine). Unfortunately the sales guy was a motor-mouth and it screwed up the sound meter (there's no way 99db in that car, mine is like 97 peak db). So I'll have to re-test drive again in a few weeks. However, the comfort actually seemed better than the Ford. I'm not sure why, but the g-force meter actually indicated that as well. Peak 1.11 g and .89 for the low. As for the ventilated front seats. OK, not quite apples to apples. It wasn't as hot that day (as it was when I did the Ford), and, when I test drove the Ford, I'd also put the AC mode in foot/face hoping it would suck up the cold air on the floor and pump it into the back. All that did was freeze my ass off while I sweated all over the back where it felt like no airflow was coming out at all. On the Hyundai I had face only on for AC. Seat did not cool near as well as the Ford, but the back part felt some coolness. It wasn't as much as the butt, but it had something. So I think in 3 weeks when I get back from a brief vacation, I'll do another test drive of both the Ford and the Hyundai (assuming the Ford dealership still has the sole Titanium with Turbo and 19" wheels). I have a feeling the Sync3 system is far better than the Hyundai but I have not played with either. I'm *hoping* that when Carplay comes out, someone can fill me on on how the Sync3 works. I was hoping all I'd have to do is press a button on the steering wheel and could have Sync3 or Carplay do whatever I wanted. I believe, on the Hyundai, you can only use voice for Carplay/Siri (or AA since it also has AA) but you CANNOT (I could be wrong) voice control anything else. I don't know if Sync3 can do that (will have to check the Sync3 forums or play). I think right now, as much as I would like the Kia, the fact that the V6 is my only choice in the 2017 model year, I'm going (again, just a guess so far) have to decide between Ford/Hyundai. Both have pros/cons so far. Fortunately I still have time for November. Thanks for letting me blab.
  24. I briefly glanced at the website. I could've been looking wrong, but it looks like only 2 engines to choose from, both V6 and both get a crummy (IMO) 17mpg (although same as Sorento 2017). My roomates sister just got a 2016 MKX, but I didn't drive it around. I couldn't tell from the website, but it mentioned nothing about Sync3, although hers sure sounded like a Sync-based system, but not sure if it was MFT or Sync3. However, I will keep it in mind and possibly do more research.
