  1. I'm still surprised. Poor planning on Ford's part, IMO. Other vendors (after market head units) have had carplay support for years. Still makes no sense to me why Ford couldn't have included it. It's not like Carplay just came out. I double-checked and my 2 year old Pioneer Head unit supports iPhone 6s carplay (albeit with a firmware update). no USB module, etc. If Pioneer knew about it 2 years ago, still makes no sense to me, why Ford was incapable of putting it into a vehicle that they *knew* was going to support carplay.
  2. I thought it was already an option on the 2015/2016 but you had to buy some sort of like $500 remote start/security kit for use with the Ford Smartphone app. But I thought I saw somewhere here (look in the remote starters forums) that you could pick up the security/starter kit thingy cheaper elsewhere.
  3. I noticed that the Edge (and a few others I've looked at) have the parking/emergency brake on the console area where it appears it's fairly easy to accidentally press. 1) Is this parking brake the same as an emergency brake? 2) If so, then what happens if you're moseying along (say, 60-75 mph) and someone accidentally hits/presses the parking brake?
  4. I see a 2015 in my parking garage every day. The guy up the road has a 2014 that he's turning in at the end of the lease due to all his MFT issues. But I see far more Nissan Rogues and Kia Sorento's for some reason.
  5. Thanks for the info! Confirms there's an issue in the 2016 as well and hopefully this one will fix it.
  6. It would make sense in that one would think that would be the only connectivity piece required (ie, what/how else does one connect an iPhone?) It would *not* make sense, IMO, from a planning stage given that my 2 year old (maybe more, I have to dig up the receipt from Amazon) Pioneer head unit (I have the 4000 NEX, not the 4100 as I previously state--that's the one that does AA) fully supports Carplay (although I do not know if it supports the iPhone 6s, I'll have to check). So it could be more of an iPhone 6.x compatibility issue vs. carplay itself. If it is truly carplay, then Ford really screwed up this one (IMO) because it's been well documented (how else can third party aftermarket head units have supported carplay for all this time) and didn't plan well (it's not like Ford didn't know they wouldn't be doing Carplay in Sync3, and if they knew it required say USB 3.0, then why on earth would they leave it out when they had a bunch of press releases a while ago that it would support it)?
  7. For those of you with the 2016 Edge, with the ventilated/cooled seats, is the problem fixed finally? I know a few people had issues with the 2015 and the "fix" not really working.
  8. I'd be surprised if that's the case. My old Pioneer AVH 4100 NEX has USB 2.0 only and it supports Apple Carplay. I am quite surprised that Ford would charge customers for that based upon previous press releases. Hopefully they'll relent. It makes no sense to me why they'd need to do a hardware upgrade unless they planned really poorly. It's not like Carplay was only introduced in 2016 by Apple.
  9. Well looks like a dealer 30 miles away has one ordered finally. Not my first choice of colors, but it looks like it's got the features I want. Of course with the ordering schedule being what it is, looks like I'll have to wait until 2017 now (better to wait 6+ months after the 2017 come out to see what shakes out). Since Ford will be cutting off the 2016 line in August and the earliest I can buy now is Nov. of this year (and since it'll have to be ordered ...) It'll give me time to win the Lotto. haha
  10. Unfortunately it appears they just don't sell at least in the NorthEast. I check every week and the inventory search keeps coming up zilch with 302A. The dealers are pushing the SEL because apparently people are leasing them and very very few people are buying (or leasing) a $45,000 + Ford. Too bad really. I'm not terribly keen on ordering a vehicle that I can't test drive and then waiting 2-3 months for it to arrive (I highly doubt there's a 30-day money back guarantee). At least if there was one on the lot I could test drive it and say "I want *that* one).
  11. Any reason you all can think of why it seems impossible to find (at least in the northeast) IN STOCK, a 2016 Edge Titanium AWD Turbo with the 302B package? Seems the 302B package is the killer, which puzzles me. Do people just not want it? Is there a problem with it? I've gone so far as to pull up CT dealers and nobody has one. (or has had once since they came out. I check almost every week). And yet with Hyundai/Kia, there seems to be no problem finding many in stock with a fully loaded (every package) Sorento SXL Turbo or Santa Fe Sport 2.0 Ultimate w/tech.
  12. Ah, OK, thanks. Well that means yet another year. Guess maybe I'll end up with the Hyundai.
  13. so does that mean that if I want to buy/order a 2016, I have to do so BEFORE 10/21/16? I'm only asking because I was planning on doing my shopping in November (all the black friday deals, etc). Based upon Ford's production this year, it would mean I would order in Nov. 2017 (for 2017 model year) and get it in like March of 2018. Looks like my choices are being narrowed for me (not by choice). Kia just announced their 2017 Sorento will have my "must have" Android Auto/Carplay, but at the same time they got rid of the SXL Turbo trim, so I'm not going to consider the more expensive V6 (worse gas mileage, I don't want the third row seat, and I don't want the 2 trim levels below for the Turbo as it doesn't have most of the features I want).
  14. I thought that only the FWD version had the auto stop/start (ie, once you got AWD, no soup for you). But I may be mis-remembering or misreading the website/brochure for the Titanium Turbo (non-sport model)
  15. You might want to try looking at Metra/Axxess or PAC Audio for wiring harnesses that don't require (or require very little) messing with the internal harnesses.
  16. Thanks for the info! Looks like with the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport getting tons of extra tech/features, and the price going up accordingly that my decision may be a little easier (LOL) come November.
  17. I would guess it probably requires a special subscription to say, Verizon or something at some ungodly price per month. I could hope it would be cable of using your smartphone's 4G, but I doubt it.
  18. thanks for the info. I forgot about Android version.
  19. If my memory is correct, the 2016 Edge has Sync 3 and has Android auto support? If I am correct, is there anyone out there that has used AA yet? If so, which phones? I've got an old Galaxy S4. My main reason for wanting AA (or Carplay, as it's easier to switch phones than the Head Unit) is that I would like to be able to: a) Push a button somewhere and then tell the phone (or whatever) to "Play song" or "Play artist" and have it play the mp3/whatever from my phone. would also like to be able to tell it to then switch to say, iHeart Radio (vs. me having to take eyes off the road and either futz with the phone or the head unit to stop the currently playing music/mp3 player and then start the iHeart Radio app and all that garbage). c) Tell it an address and have it use Google Maps (or, if the nav abilities in the Edge are decent, use that) Is there any reviews/video samples of AA in the Edge?
  20. Well I *am* glad to see that the 2016 Edge got better ratings/score than the 2015. That, to me, seems to indicate (so far) that the QA issues on the 2015 have been resolved.
  21. bingo! They did that a while back when I was comparing stereo receivers (dinged JVC or someone for something that they praised Sony for). Which is why I'm only concerned about the reliability data (which I would hope would come from some sort of statistics gathered--but maybe not). Although I do read the articles in full to see what/how they test. I used to enjoy watching the CNET on cars when it downloaded to my Tivo to see the tech packages. It is a little disturbing to see the overall reliability be an empty black circle, but I suppose it's better than the 2015 Edge (don't know). I'll have to compare to what the 2016 Kia sorento shows up. Looking forward to the NYC Auto Show to see what goodies are on their way for the competition.
  22. thanks, however, I was wondering about the reliablity ratings. There's a chart missing (doesn't surprise me since 2016 haven't been out long enough) where it has little small circles filled in with red. Like a full red circle means "best" or something, half red circle means "good", circle with nothing in it, means average, and then there's the half black circle, and full black circle. when I had access, the 2015 model year just displayed a page saying they predicted lower than average quality/reliability but had insufficient data to post the charts.
