  1. I am heartbroken. I have this issue. I am scared to drive my car. They gave me an appointment 2 weeks out. I hate them already. At first, I got the warning to get it serviced due to adaptive steering issue. Then it went away and I put it down to a computer hiccup. Then, after a 10 hour long trip, it came back. No change in the steering at all, so I pushed through it (ignored it) and then just today the error came up AND the steering wheel was a full one quarter turn off center. I was pissed. Brand new 44K car at 3K miles and an issue like this. Never had anything like it in 50 years of driving. Had to get to tax office as it was last day to get them done. I had tried turning the engine off and on a few times to no avail. The vestigial steering wheel warning light with an exclamation point was still lit. I was very near empty, and got a full tank. Magically, the steering wheel went back to a proper center and warning light was gone. I buy new precisely to avoid this type of insanity. I want them to take the car back. It almost appears that this issue happens when low on gas. I realize that much more testing is necessary to confirm this but thought I would throw it out there in case others had the same experience. I am desperate for help with this and will keep a very close eye on this thread. Titanium with all options. 2016 2.0. As if to add insult to injury, I already started a website here www.fordedgeseatssuck.com due to the extremely poor design of the seats. Not to mention the known issue of a non-functioning cooling feature of these so called "seats". I did not want that stupid feature but wanted the heated steering wheel. I can not use the car without $100 cushions on the seat. Which makes the feature of "heated seats" a non starter. Sheesh. And to further add insult to injury, both rear lights started fogging up today! I mean really Ford? This is 2016 for God's sake. Decent seats, lights that do not leak, and steering that just works should not be a damn mystery. I leased. Which makes my options limited. But cannot stop me from just leaving the damn car on their lot. Sorry for rant, but this is not what a new car experience should be. FYI, made in Canada. Thanks for listening. Dave
  2. That looks cool, thanks! I have already ordered these two items from Amazon and will use which works best. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BD2TVKO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018QP21XY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I am heartbroken that which ever of these works best it will cancel out my ability to use heated seats. That is a must have. Have had it for the last 15 years in all my cars. I had a friend who is a completely different shape/age than myself and he also said they were uncomfortable due to narrowness and hard bolsters.
  3. The problem is, that is where my body touches the car and is therefore a critical factor. The issue is this: The bottom seat cushion has two "side bolsters" or whatever you call them. They are like parallel tracks, and they should veer out naturally in a mild V shape. That is problem one. Problem two is that they are too deep. Or tall, depending on how you look at it. Problem three is that they are too HARD. And problem four is that they are too NARROW. Like for a child. The outside of my hip bones (I am average, neither fat nor skinny and 64 years old) sits on the side bolsters and eventually rest on the metal bar under the bolsters. Not enough padding. I have already started using a cushion I had laying around to lift my butt off the seat. It is not perfect, but maybe if I can find the right size and shape cushion then I will be able to attain the comfort I need. The thing that makes me mad is that this cushion solution obviates my favorite feature of any car, yup, the heated seats. If there were an option for 22 or 30 way adjustable seats (like they have in the Lincoln version of this car), I would have ponied up in a heartbeat for them. Instead, they vary the seats with the model of the car which is, to me, insane. I lease, and think maybe that limits my options. This is such a shame, because with proper seats, Ford would sell so many more cars. If I could have just one beer with the "seat guy" at Ford, I know I could convince him. I like so many things about this car, but this is an issue that I feel could affect my health. Too much pressure on bones for long times cannot bode well. I feel like going to a Lincoln dealer and make them put their seats into my car, or maybe take this car back and give me a Lincoln version of this car. I test drove so many cars for over two years up to a BMW X5 for almost 60K and liked the Edge the best. But this seat thing only reared its head after about 5 days of driving. Until then, I thought maybe it would soften up or did not notice it due to all the other things I was paying attention to. Keep everything the same but give me 2 inches more width and that might do it. I do not think an upholsterer can accomplish that. But maybe they could work some magic. I guess my next move is to find a memory foam type of car cushion and at least use that temporarily until I can get the best resolution available to me. I really like this car. Except for the seat. Funnily, as I was searching for the perfect car, I was paying more attention the the length of the bottom cushion, as I like support under my thighs. I did notice this cushion was about 1.5 inches less that I would prefer, but figured that was something I cold learn to live with. But this issue causes actual discomfort, and so it completely blindsided me. Pay 42K for a car and then having to put a cushion on the seat does not sit well with me. Yeah, a pun. Please Ford, listen to me and help me. I want to be your biggest fan. Thanks all for listening. Dave
  4. Thanks, I am liking it except for one thing, and unfortunately, it is a BIG thing. Damn, because except for the bottom seat cushions (and I use that term loosely) it is a damn near perfect car. Gonna post in another thread.
  5. OK, the wait is over! I took possession of my Ford Edge 2016 302A titanium 2.0 Magnetic Gray. I am liking it. I am never buying a car again. It took so much time and energy. So, I had better love this. For at least 3 years when the lease is up Seriously, I am liking it. I think the build quality is very good. I like the cognac color leather seats. I like the ambient lighting, no gas cap, and safety features like adaptive cruise, lane change, etc. I am still trying to learn all the new things. I like Synch, but am unsure of audio quality on phone calls. This is critical to me, so I am going to do some more testing. I have had it for about a week. But I do not drive all that much per day.
  6. Final decision. I am sticking with my Edge order! Titanium 2.0, Magnetic, 302A, I think. Cold weather package for sure. I think it is the bets car out there for the money. I just wish they would hurry up. Have been quoted mid July. OUCH! I drove the 2017 Escape twice and loved it, but the size and comfort of the Edge tilted me slightly to the Edge. I really hope it comes sooner.
  7. Also my favorite feature. Well done Ford.
  8. That is the new s I was hoping for. In all the photos I am really liking them a whole lot. And I would sure not mind saving the money over the Edge. 98% of my driving is really just around town type of stuff. So small and fun to drive fits well
  9. LOL! Yeah, I would kill to drive the Escape 2017! If I liked it, I would save $$$ and gas I would get the 2.0, of course! They say it is much quieter than the 2016 which is very important to me. And I thought the 2016 was OK. But I had a very short test drive, so I could be wrong about the 2016. But the changes they made to the interior and I hear also the seats are substantial. I am guessing they MIGHT be around when my Edge finally comes in
  10. Thanks for that info. I thought I had read that somewhere. With all the excellent cars out there, finding the exact one is a fairly complex task, at least for me. I also really want to check out a 2017 Ford Escape, which are arriving on some lots as we speak. I will hang in for now and let you all know how the mystery shakes out
  11. And am wondering what happens if I either change my mind and cancel the order or drive it and for some reason do not decide to purchase. I put $500 down on the order. I thought I would be able to do the buy and wait thing but it is giving me way to much time to over think. I may be an "off the lot" type of guy after all. I appreciate any info, thanks, Dave

  13. Sounds like a great car. Enjoy. I may end up going to the dealer and seeing what they have that would work for me. I think they said they could change out the seat colors if need be I seem to recall they had a V6. I like a V6, but thought this time I would try a Turbo
  14. Today I ordered the Granite Edge Titanium 302a, Cold Weather. Cognac interior. 2.0 EcoBoost, AWD. I am very excited. It will be the first time I ever waited for a car
  15. It is looking like tomorrow will be the big test drive! I have been lurking here for awhile as I have been obsessing about cars for the last 4-6 months or so. Ford Edge is on my short list. I like the quiet, the ride, the tech, the looks. The only thing I do not like is the front seats. I found the bottom too short/not supportive enough. I am very sensitive to that. I even googled around for some sort of a booster seat that would extend the bottom cushion somehow. No find I have not tried the 2016, as I crossed off the 2015 because of the short time to the 2016 and the Sync 3. I really like my car, it is 4 years old and has been perfect to me. So this is not an easy decision at all. BMW X5, Volvo XC60 and keeping my car seem to be the options. X5 is superb, but pricey. Or maybe even a loaded Escape. Thanks for listening. It looks like Ford has really been paying attention, and the Edge is a big success. Dave
