  1. I heard a rumour Ford was going to hire a grade 9 co-op student to re-design the rear trunk light. The grade 6 student that engineered it thought just one light, placed low on the right side of the trunk/wheel well was a good idea.
  2. I almost bought Too Good To Be Blue as well. To me it should be called Seafoam (green). It does look a bit different in different lights, but I'm glad we waited for the '17 Blue Jeans.
  3. My custom order 2017 Edge (Ordered in late Sept, priority 10) won't be arriving until Jan. Anyone getting one earlier?
  4. When do you think the first 2017's will hit dealer lots? Noobie question: Does it actually take 8 weeks to make a vehicle or is it really just a one day thing to get from one end of the line to the other?
  5. Can you clarify exactly what Scheduling and Job1 Date means? Thx
  6. Apparently these are the colours: http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/61407-2017-ford-edge-production-information/?p=978971
  7. Sorry for the delay. You're not going crazy, I'm getting the same type of info too. I checked with a couple different dealers in Ontario, Canada (including one in Oakville where it's made) and same story... it can't be ordered yet. I'm dealing with a very reputable person at one of these dealers too. I also have insiders at Ford HQ. They feel it "should" be available to order (dealer allotments, etc) but as we know it's not. I'll push harder on this tomorrow because this is just silly for a carry-over that is getting a few colour changes.
  8. The Order Bank has been open for almost 2 weeks now and my dealer still says he can't order a 2017 Edge yet... WTF Almost as logical the Sync Connect being on the '17 Escape and not the Edge
  9. This AWD system on the Edge doesn't seem to advanced. Aside from trying to position AWD as safer for soccer moms with kids, it really has limited benefits for everyday driving. The biggest benefit would be winter, however throw snow tires/wheels on FWD and you have a cheaper/better solution anyway (and your summer tires/wheels will last twice as long). Benefits of FWD: $2k cheaper (pricey option) ~10% more fuel efficient ~10% more powerful (less power lost through the gears) ~160 lbs lighter (better handling & acceleration on an already heavy SUV) Less parts to break (i.e. PTU) AWD has benefits in more aggressive/extreme situations, but with ABS and traction control (and snow tires in the winter) you have the most important basic safety features already. Even if AWD was free, I still don't even know if I'd go with it
  10. Thanks for the info. Can you share the instructions you used to install? Or do I just take your advice and get the dealer to do it (since they have to activate it too)?
  11. Thanks guys. I tried searching and looking, but I can't find this thread. Can you link me? It's a real bummer Connect this isn't on the 2017 Edge. The accessory link from akirby also says that this accessory is also required and you also need an annual data plan (from Ford?!). This is more confusing than the layout of these fourms EDIT: It looks like they sell these 2 part together HERE. Indicates Ford install is required to activate and a $49 annual fee.
  12. Bummer... sounds like a cool feature. Since it's a hardware add-on, I guess we're SOL. I'm guessing the 2018 Edge will get it along with the rumoured minor face lift
  13. Cool, thanks. Seems worth the extra ~$100, especially if these liners are half decent ?
  14. I'm a bit confused too. It sounds like Android Auto and Car Play are going to be added, but its not ready yet. Maybe it will be officially called "Connect" after a software update for the '17's... and maybe the 16's?
  15. The Sport had the deluxe (aka thicker/fluffier) mats in '16 too. Seems like they were reaching to make the Sport interior step-up.
  16. Are the "floor liners" the all-weather mats? The old ones were pathetic, but WeatherTech is the way to for good coverage anyway. I'm curious how this wiper de-icer will work and what they'll charge for the Cold Weather package now?
  17. Thanks for the heads up akirby!!! Ford.ca still shows the 2016 Edge. I wonder if the 2017 Order Bank is actually open right now? P.S. I don't see a pic in your post above. Are the 19" wheels the same design, just a slightly different/darker colour?
  18. Thanks, very good info! Is there a link or video where Ford describes how this works in detail? I was leaning FWD because ($2k less, 10% more power & mileage, less weight, less parts to break) but if AWD will come into play more than the once a year my wife accelerates hard in the snow (and with snow tires), I might have to re-consider.
  19. I've only driven a AWD 2.0L Edge and I didn't notice much torque-steer. What I did notice is that it was a bit gutless and that the pedal feel and transmission were a bit sensitive/jumpy. I was leaning FWD drive to get/retain a bit more HP out of the engine, but this torque-steer comment in a few places has me a bit concerned. I thought AWD only kicks in when wheels slip; why would it come into play during hard acceleration on a dry road?
  20. I was at a dealership yesterday; apparently I can still factory order a 2016 and get it in 8-10wks. Still no detailed info or Order Guide for the 2017, but apparently the 2017 Edge Order Bank opens tomorrow, so I'll check back with them again next week. Their ETA on the 2017 was early/mid Dec as the earliest, but like akirby said I think that could be optimistic. Question: Are there minor changes they could make that don't get mentioned in the Order Guide? We know some colors will change and Sync3 will be standard on all Ford vehicles now, but what if they change smaller stuff (i.e. more sound-deadening)? I'm thinking the 2017 version may also have some minor engineering improvements from issues they found on the 2016 that might not get mentioned in the guide??
  21. Hmmm. Seems a few people didn't like these Ford rails because the spread was only 21" (most boxes and other stuff require 23"+). Are different bars available that can increase the spread?
  22. Great link, thanks! And good on Ford for explaining this. I went from thinking "over-priced accessory" to "this is an option I will gladly pay extra for", even though my current towing requirements are limited. Like others have said, the minor premium you pay of this factory installed tow package is great value considering the features (hitch, wiring, upgraded rad/fans & sway control), appearance (integrated bumper) and factory installation (no PITA 3rd party "solutions").
  23. I don't understand how this works considering the trailer wheels don't drive or brake? P.S. I found an answer to my other question. Everything in the Trailer Tow Package can be found HERE.
  24. What is "trailer sway control"? Also, can someone confirm exactly what is in the trailer package for the 2015/16 Edge? Hitch, connector... better rad/fans/alt/batt?
  25. Does anyone know what, if any, changes are being made to the 2017 Edge? Price, features, colours, improvements, etc?
