  1. If you hold the FOB in your hand near the window, towards the rear of the door, when you close it, it won't honk.
  2. Or by holding the FOB near the glass and/or keypad as you close the door!
  3. Has anyone figured out a way to disable the cargo / hatch area light?
  4. Sounds like your lane keeping system is whacked out. Try turning it off and test it out.
  5. Just to add more info to my previous posts on this subject: After getting the updated adaptive steering software installed, and regaining that functionality, I noticed two DTC codes in Forscan, related to the Steering Angle Sensor not being initialized / calibrated. Brought car back to dealer, and they saw the codes, reset the SASM Trim, and codes cleared. It also seems to have brought the adaptive "feel" back to the steering as well. So.... either get Forscan to view your DTC codes, or make sure that there is an indication on your paper work that they performed the steering angle sensor calibration, and checked for any DTC codes, post install.
  6. Yes, even the adaptive / speed sensitive VARIABLE RATIO part! lol
  7. Just returned from second visit to the dealer this week. While they replaced the steering wheel on Monday for a second time (unrelated to the adaptive steering fault), the "adaptive" portion was obviously not functioning. Actually, while they call it adaptive, I think that's a misnomer, it's more accurately, Variable Ratio steering. That being said, apparently, this 2nd wheel was a new iteration, and required new software that wasn't available until yesterday; or so I was told. They had to download it to their computers, then program my car. Works great now.
  8. Or hold the FOB in your hand right next to the window glass as you close the door!
  9. I too am interested in the specific module, address, and code change to effect this change?????
  10. Just ordered a switchable OBD interface and downloaded the Forscan software so I can look at and, optionally, change some of my settings, like putting the heated steering wheel selector on the home screen, and checking the status of my adaptive steering.
  11. So, got my 2nd new Steering Wheel, but this time, I think that they forgot to turn on the adaptive steering functionality! In the Lincoln, there is no menu option specific to this, so it's just by feel that I can tell it's not doing it's improved low speed turning ratio thing. Did someone else say that it was just a matter of a simple ODB connection, and turning on the option in software?
  12. I also drove mine around for a month waiting on the replacement steering assembly. Only difference I could detect, was a lighter feeling in the steering, and clearly, the reduced ratio for low speed turning was gone. Essentially, it drove like the same model without the adaptive steering option.
  13. I have heard of these vehicles that have lane keeping assist, and if the system or sensors aren't set right, it will vibrate the wheel, as if you are constantly riding over the paint lines.
  14. You can't turn off the adaptive steering feature in the MKX either, but when it failed, it was no different than if I was able to simply turn it off. It reverted to not having the adaptive steering option, just like the majority of the MKX's and Edges that are out there. You could tell that the adaptive steering functionality wasn't there, but then it steered no differently than the same models that didn't have the adaptive steering option at all. Since I did pay for the option, I wanted it back, but otherwise, it drove fine.
  15. The repair only takes a couple of hours, not sure why you would need a rental or loaner. I drove my car for a month without adaptive steering, in other words, just normal steering. Big whoop. They got the wheel in, and we scheduled a time to do the swap. Since I drive a Lincoln, they have to give me a loaner, which I took for the day, but certainly not for the month between when the adaptive steering first went out, and the scheduled repair date.
  16. I only saw the fault on my '16 MKX once, but the adaptive functionality of the steering was clearly no longer working. The dealer replaced the entire steering assembly a week ago. The actual procedure is only an hour or two. I can tell that the adaptive functionality is working again with the new wheel assembly.
  17. Got my MKX back yesterday. Apparently the actual procedure to replace the steering wheel doesn't take much longer than a couple of hours, as everything is very modular. Having a hard time discerning if my adaptive steering is actually functioning or not though. I think that it is. Unlike the Edge, in the MKX, there is no configuration option in the menu system for it, it's just always on if present.
  18. I removed the spare tire and jack completely already...
  19. I'm experiencing a noise, I believe coming from the cargo area, that occurs randomly depending on the road surface. It can happen at slow to moderate speeds, and seems to be more dependent upon how quick, or harsh the bump is, even if slight, rather than situations that subject the wheels to larger suspension travel. It's not a rattle per se, but sounds like a single clunk, of possibly a plastic harness contacting a body part. Could be coming from one of the cargo struts themselves, although the door seems to be firmly seating against the spacer pads, indicated by dirt marks on the metal where they make contact. Anyone else getting an odd noise from the cargo area? PS. I have removed the spare tire and jack to eliminate that possible source for the noise. Has anyone had any luck using any of the electronic noise detection devices available?
  20. They gave my MKX right back to me after verifying the code and ordering a new SECM (steering wheel assembly) for me. The part arrived this week, but my appointment to have the replacement done, is not for another couple of weeks, which works out well for my schedule. I've been driving the car for over 2 weeks now without the adaptive steering functionality..... other than that, it drives just fine.
  21. I want to point out, again, that after my initial error message about the adaptive steering fault, the message has not appeared again. However, my adaptive steering clearly does not work. Are you sure that yours is functioning? When mine worked, I only had to turn the steering wheel about half as far as I do now, at parking lot speeds.... and it definitely has somewhat lighter feel on the highway.
  22. Just bought one of these, works great to prevent sliding of the aforementioned items! https://www.walmart.com/ip/ROLA-59001-Rola-Move-Rigid-Base-Large-Interior-Organizer-38-x-15-x-7-inch-39-x-16-x-3-inch/35528625?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227023620190&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=51748536311&wl4=pla-83097560591&wl5=9023859&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=35528625&wl13=&veh=sem
  23. Try holding the FOB in your hand near the rear portion of the driver window when you close the door (or in the hand that you use to close the door with). Worked in my '14 Focus, and works in my '16 MKX to silence the double honk.
  24. I've only had this Lincoln loaner a few hours, and it's already going back. Thanks to the information I culled from these forums, I emailed the above mentioned TSB (along with the descriptive text) to the Lincoln service manager a couple hours after dropping the car off this morning, thinking it might be helpful. He in turn, printed it out, and left it for the technician. As it turns out, it came in handy, as the code that the vehicle threw (he did not say which one), did not automatically link to the TSB, but the TSB did have the right info for the code. Long story short, they are cleaning my car up for me (it was filthy after the recent snow), and giving it back to me, while they order me a new SECM, which basically is the entire steering wheel assembly. So far, I am pleased with this level of service! The service manager was very appreciative of my research....
