First weekend with our Edge, I went off road
jimmerz replied to Canada Jeff's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Looks like fun. I actually had my first run in with disaster the other day. I slowly back into a "log". As I heard it hit the Passenger side rear bumper, I quickly stopped. Slowly began to pull forward and I heard a noise you do not like to hear. I got out and looked...sure enough, it was behind the dam plastic and pulled it out. Not very noticeable but for a new car and the screws being pulled out of the plastic...I AM A LITTLE TICKED AT MYSELF! Grrr....sorry a little off topic. I guess since the forum is small and inactive, I thought it was ok to Hi-Jack your thread, lol -
SALEEN, I want a BIGGER picture from one of the sides, so I can use it as wallpaper on my PC! Those pics are too small...lol

This may be a stupid question. But I never heard of TSB's before. I also never really surfed forums on any of my other vehicles either? Anyway, if I am experiencing one of these problems. I just call the dealer and mention the TSB# and schedule an apoointment and everything is covered under warranty correct? Thanks.

Thanks SIM, I have felt this on occasion as well, but didnt know there was a TSB. ---->to the printer I go!

Well, sounds like you just might have THE best AC in any Ford Edge? LOL, I am pretty sure mine will not blow temps in the low 30's. I highly doubt even the 40's. We don't even have too many BLAZING hot days here in Pittsburgh, but we have some heat. I have not done anything to the extent you have, my tests are just by pure feel...I know what cold air feels like and maybe there is a recall on some AC units in our near future?
-
come on someone tell us how we can do this FREE!!! lol
-
hmmmm... It appears most of us are in the 400's??? Strange isnt it?
-
Well, I went to Wally World and bought a large rubber maid type container. Then I can put whatever I want inside that and no one can see in. Not that I have any secrets, but it is mostly to keep the rear area organized and clean. If you find anything else let us know.

I would consider that a major problem as well. Since I have NEVER had that happen in ANY car I drove!

Ford Edge Forums - which do you visit?

This one and myfordedge.com I also used to go to fordedge.org That was my first site actually. But the smap is HORRIBLE and I started marking each one and emailing the "admins" over there. No replies and nothing done. Then not only was it just prescription pills spam they started to actually get a bunch of pornography. I have no use for that type of site. This one will be my winner. It is the most active and so far so good on the spammers! -
I took it to a shop and it was $35 per window here as well. so $70 total. I have a friend who does this and he has a VERY good tint guy. Make sure you check around, there are some crappy tint people! I think my tint is 35? I can check. I wanted it a little darker than it is so it would match the back. Depending on the angle and sunshine it is actually pretty close.

The Auto AC you refer to is not on the cheap models (which I have). I have 1-4 as far as how fast the fan blows. lol
-
I'm tinted. I guess it is a little better than not being tinted. Still hot and takes the AC a while to actually cool things down. (I guess due to the size of the interior) I would love to tint VERY dark. But almost ANY tint in PA is illegal. (glad I have my tin :shades: ) That is one of these for you slow folks.....

OMG I am FINALLY in the MAJORITY! I was just saying the same to my wife. it has been rather warm here in the Burgh lately and I have to keep the AC on MAX number 4 all the time for the freakin vehicle to stay cool. As soon as you take a notch off, WARMS UP QUICK! I hope this is a recall!

ok well here are "MY" results. Someone stated that if you keep the rpm's at or under 2000 this will produce the best mpg for this vehicle. Where I live there are numerous hills...I found it close to IMPOSSIBLE to stay at or under 2000 rpm's ALL the time. So, to be fair I am guessing I was able to do this for about 85-90% of this tank of gas. I drove EXTREMELY conservative. I let off the gas completely when able to and I had all slow accelerations. I was very proud to actually be able to drive this way for a whole tank of gas. if you try this yourself you will see that 2000 rpm's or less is pretty difficult unless you live in the desert. Anyway, I am not as thrilled as I would have hoped to have been. I got 298.8 miles on that tank. Filled up getting 17.21 gallons, giving me a grand total of 17.4 mpg. Which for basically 70% local driving and 30% highway, I guess isn't bad? But my normal driving for my last 5 tanks of gas produced (15, 16.4, 16.7, 15.6, 16.3) So for not much of an improvement, and driving like I am 90 years old...NOT SURE IF IT IS REALLY WORTH IT!

I thought that this was standard on ALL Edge's? I am not sure if my Edge has this feature. Could someone clearify this for me. (NOT if I have it, but is it Standard...which in turn would then mean I do have it, lol) Thanks!
-
Thanks. $117 seems pretty reasonable, didnt check with the Stealer yet.

Well since I bought my Edge in February. My first recorded fill up was on 2/18/2007 and it cost me $40.32, my most recent fill up was on 5/28/2007 and it cost me $51.70!!! The gas prices are Ridiculous. I know that the rumors are gas will be up to or over $4/gallon by the end of summer but what do the rest of you think? Is there any relief in sight? Will we ever drop back to a reasonable price again? I am not even sure what "reasonable" would be at this point....maybe $2/gallon! Oh well, just thought I would share my thoughts. I was entering in my data on www.fueleconomy.gov and noticed the BIG difference in $ (actually I believe my wife brought it to my attention first...lol)
