  1. The Vista Roof on our '10 Edge has always been slow but its now getting to the point that it is extremely slow for the last 10" of closing. We've had dealer look at the issue each time we had it in for servicing since new (under warranty). Took it back this past week and they still claim that the motors pass all diagnostic and that the roof rails need cleaning and resetting? Asked me if I parked under a tree as they were very dirty (which we don't). Seems odd that this had been done multiple times with little success. Is this a service I can do instead of paying for 2 hours labour at the dealer? I've seen the 3 videos from a gentlemen addressing the 'fail to close' issue but he only speaks to cleaning the grease from the rails and then lubricating, not 'resetting.' Any info would be appreciated as I'd like to get this done next week before it gets really cold! Will snap some pics if that helps. Just tell me what shots would be most helpful.
  2. Just reserved OE premium ceramic pads and rotors from Napa Auto Parts - 180 less 10%. Hopefully they are good quality.
  3. Thanks for the part number. Not sure why I couldn't get that sorting by my vehicle the first time! I think I'll just do the front as well as that seems to be the source of the pulsing (if you can feel that). You went with MotorCraft rotors as well? Just got off the phone with RockAuto and they suggested getting the pad/caliper kits (loaded). Do I need to do Calipers as well?
  4. We've got a pretty wicked pulse/vibration when braking at higher speeds so it's not something I want to keep driving on. Just wondered if there was a use in getting them serviced instead of replacing with this mileage?
  5. Don't see MotorCraft on the rockauto site for 2010 Edge. Is their a consensus on which brake kits are a good replacement? Taking a look around its hard to get an opinion for the standard driver! Most general info (other cars) is aimed at the performance crowd. I'm just looking for something that will give me the same or better braking performance (and last longer) on our family vehicle! Also, should I be inspecting the brakes first to confirm I need to replace everything at 52,000 KM? With a mix of city to highway driving of 70/30 is this the mileage we should see out of them?
  6. Great. Guy on the street has done his Subaru so it should be a simple enough job. What rotors and pads did you go with? OEM or something else? Price paid? eBay was much cheaper or should I look at Amazon or some of the big US parts distributors? AutoAnything has Power Stop Brake Kit for $388 Any guidance on sourcing parts is appreciated.
  7. Fellow Canucks, job worth getting done state side at reputable shop? My local quoted $400 to service or $900 new all the way around.
  8. 51K on our 10 Edge and getting pretty significant vibration when stepping on the brakes at higher speeds (80km/h+). Suppose its time for a service and/or replace. If I'm just going to change rotor and pads instead of getting them serviced, is this something I can do on my own and purchase parts from US? If I'm not concerned about looks (stock wheel), what should I consider buying? Or would I save money just getting it done at a shop in Buffalo area?
  9. Our Salesman called yesterday letting us know the Edge is a week ahead of schedule and it will be at the dealership on Wednesday. Great News! Now let's see if they slipped one of those leftover NAV units in just for good measure
  10. That's the one. I was able to find the window sticker on the web which is what I assume you did as well? Any information on the window sticker that would indicate build completion date? At what point is the window sticker created? Once the vehicle is serialized?
  11. I'll check with the dealership again. Is there a name of the report that I can ask to see? How often is the build status updated for the dealers?
  12. Posting here in case someone has the time & resources to give me a report on production 2010 Ford Edge Limited. VIN - 2FMDK4KC1ABB49085 Cheers Van G
  13. Our Edge is in production. Dealer quoted me the following while signing today: 6 yr/120,000KM - $2620 6 yr/150,000KM - $3120 $1299 for the Platinum Shield Protection 5yr Maintenance Plan: $1500 6yr Maintenance Plan: $2000 Interested to hear what people paid and what they've purchased?
  14. I searched but couldn't find the thread on BlueOval : Vehicle Locator by Ford Employees Just ordered an Edge and dealer informed me that one of their orders was cancelled so we jumped into that spot. Supposedly we're in March production instead of April. Wondering if I can find out the accuracy of this and if the early to mid April delivery is realistic. VIN - 2FMDK4KC1ABB49085 2010 Edge Limited AWD - Black/Camel - Vista - Remote Start PS: if any of the guys building this fine vehicle are trolling the thread, feel free to throw the NAV & tow package on it. Bills road trip on me
  15. Looks like a split decision! My thoughts were to get my dealer to give me a credit on the 18" OEM wheel package and then put my own 20" wheels for 3 season and 18" black steel rims for the winter. Haven't shopped around extensively but first impressions, it looks like $2K just for the 20" wheel package!
  16. Put our money down on an 2010 Edge Limited AWD. In the past I've always gone with winter wheels but this is our first CUV or AWD vehicle. We live in downtown Toronto and travel outside of the city a fair amount. As you probably know, winter tires do a better job than all-seasons even if their isn't a lot of snow on the ground. Did you get a winter wheel package for your Edge?
  17. Put our money down today and ended up getting a little bit better deal: 2010 Edge Limited AWD (Black/Camel) w/ Vista Roof and Remote Start: 38,000 drive away price: 23K cash, 15K due in 2 yrs @ 0% lease-to-own program. Happy with the deal and looking forward to taking ownership. I'll do a search but does anyone know the part number for the Navigation Head Unit? This is something I might consider purchasing. A couple of additions on the radar: - weather tech mats - change the grille - rims and summer rubber
  18. I just bought a Limited Edge and want to put the Nav Head Unit as well. Is there a specific part number I can search eBay for? Are the wrecker's a potential source?
  19. Thanks for the heads up on the mats and remote start. I'll have to play around with the Nav and get him to price one out. I've seen talk on here of units coming up on eBay for $800 which might be another option. Should I start whining about how good the 2011 electronics look!
  20. Too bad. The 2011 Limited and Sport look great and the myTouch is pretty cool. At the end of the day -> Point A to Point B
  21. Thanks for the reply Wil. I'm purchasing so I can take advantage of the discounts. Sales guy offered me 10K at 0% for 2 years which I'll likely take and put the $10K somewhere to earn a few bucks. When I go into do a deal I'll see what he can let an Edge with NAV in it go for. Our cell phones have talking Nav already so it's frill that we can do without. Sync is standard on the Limited. The 20's do look nice but we'll likely go after market for rims if we want to change and keep the 18's for winter rubber. Remote start, rubber mats, and tow package are things we might bite on but after market is also an option. Anyone able to comment on invoice pricing and dealer holdback amounts?
  22. Sat down with a very straight forward salesman in Toronto and without negotiation came to the following: 2010 Edge Limited AWD w/ Vista Roof: 32,900 +TTT-> Driveaway price 39,500 (all in) Deal uses the following: $5000 Ford Discount $1000 Ford Custom Cash $1000 Costco Promo Very high volume dealer with multiple vehicles that fit my needs on the lot. I haven't seen invoice price but I'm assuming the invoice price is close to 39,900 given msrp is 43,149 (7.5% markup). I don't know enough to comment on what dealer hold-back's would be or if I can negotiate into them. I had originally planned to purchase from the US and bring back over but at this price I would have to purchase the same vehicle for $25K USD to make it worthwhile. I don't see that happening. Two questions: What do you think of the price and do I have some to negotiate? If I order a 2011 Edge, will I be able to get within $4000 of this price? I would be willing to wait the time and pay that premium for the updated Edge. Sport looks fantastic although I'm not sure I'd like the 22" low profile on the torn up Toronto roads! PS: Also discussed 2010 F-150 SuperCrew Long Bed XLT/XTR which would be 29,500 if I buy both at the same time. Prices are good, no? Feedback appreciated.
  23. Interesting. I thought the incentives were based on inventory levels which would be related to the economies of the area. I'll know soon enough.
  24. Didn't realize that rebates were based on area the vehicle is registered? Went through the process of purchasing an Edge about 19 months ago from a dealer in Washington State and didn't seem like this was an issue, although, I never did follow through. Also, from my reading of related threads on another sites, many Canadians are taking advantage of the rebates in the US. I'll check into it and post back. What about time of purchase? "Anyone have advice on when to purchase? End of Jan? End of Quarter? When 2011's are on the lot?"
