Would this be true for Hi-Flow cats?  That was my plan, not catless, but that would still be more flow than stock so I may still not get the full advantage with the LMS tune.  They (LMS) had specifically asked me for any Intake or Exhaust mods when I ordered the tune so it seemed then like they would take that extra flow into consideration so I'll clarify that with them.

I was all in for the ~$1100 cost of the pipes, even the major surgery on the front clip, but another $500 or whatever for a new tune is going to put this on hold for a bit.

the hiflow cats that Zury is offering flow as well as catless for stock turbo applications, maybe a hair better.  I would honestly be very surprised if livernois stuck by your side on this.  I would call and double check, before continuing.

Glad to be here. My daughter just picked up a 2015 Edge AWD. I hope to learn a lot about it here, on this forum.

Welcome and great choice!  will be safe and reliable to years to come!

I’m late to the party here, but I read the whole thread with interest.  My question is: Will the downpipes alone, tapering into the stock catback, give this platform a significant Hp/torque increase, assuming I’ll have a tune that considers this mod (I have Livernois tune for a pure stock ST).

By significant, I mean say I get + 30 hp at the crank from my current tune and stock downpipes, would you estimate this mod  with a tune for it might get +45 hp?   Ie, the stock downpipes are the weak link here?  I realize a lot depends on Livernois but I’m looking to gauge a ballpark figure as to how “liberating” this downpipe mod is.

Hey bud, livernois will not adjust the tune to take advantage of the catless downpipes.  You will have to switch tuners to ZFG to get the most, as he is the only one with experience tuning for those on this platform.  On your current tune you may gain a little, but the tune itself is airflow/load based and will begin to open the wastegate to bleed of what ever extra boost you may build.

over all, yes they will help significantly with the proper tune.

    Thanks, all!

Specifics: 2019 ST, 400A and cold weather packages, as well as a panoramic roof. Bought it with 7800 miles, 10k miles on it now. The front tint was illegal so I had the dealer remove it. Plan on reapplying it with a legal percentage later this spring. I'm really impressed with the fuel economy for a vehicle this size - last tank was 26.0 mpg!

Looks great man!  just wait till you tune it, can usually squeeze about 2 more mpg out of it!

Just picked up a 2014 Edge SEL last night for the wife's daily.

Kodiak brown, twin LCD gauges with NAV, leather, 40k miles, lifetime powertrain warranty. Good deal but not too good to be true. Reminds me a lot of our old navigator and the wife seems to love it.

It's almost perfect. Has an issue with the NAV SD card due to some damage to the input board but it's already ordered.

Only planned mod is a catch can and some additional USB charging ports, I have too many other cars to mess with.

    Current fleet:

    2014 Ford Edge

    2007 Hyundai Sonata v6

    1999 Wrangler ( mod list is too long to post ;) ) 4.0L - 5 speed

    1997 Geo tracker 16v  5 speed

1990 Consulier GTP ( google it...mine is the maroon and white one ) mod list is also too long to post

    Welcome and enjoy!

that GTP you got looks like a blast!

I was curious what power gains are safely and reliably possible with just tuner/ turbo upgrades.  What hp/tq/ 0-60 #'s have you achieved? Thanks in advance.

helps to know which engine.  Our 2.7tt with FBO and E85 put down a good bit....coming in close to 600 crank horsepower

Thanks , good to hear, it presently has no hitch installed & my wife asked me 1st thing this morning if it had one.  ☆ the saleswoman did a video tour of the car yesterday afternoon for me., they had an ice storm on the weekend & it was encrusted in ice and had to melt in their detailing bay before videoing..  We are about a 2.5 hr. drive from the dealership.

    .

Looks good man!  welcome to the fam!  Yea curtis has a good hitch if you want one....thats what we use

Thanks , Special K  , how has the reliability been?  & do you tow  anything with it?

For having the fastest and highest horsepower edge, it has been very reliable, just stay on top of fluid changes and she will be good.  Yes we regularly tow about 6,000lbs no issues.

This exact thing happened to me with 2 of the 3 rear plugs, after googling wth was going on I learned this is a very common thing to happen. Shit design, don't blaim yourself.

Not a shit design, happens with literally every kind of plug boot out there if not properly maintained (dielectric grease and regular maintenance).  This has never happened to any of my cars or the hundreds that I work on solely because we change plugs every 50K and clean everything and lubricate.  Maintenace is key to easy work, even on something that isnt an optimal design.

YOUR THE BEST!!! THANK YOU!!! I'm going to read through them a bit further. So far it looks like the Rotora's might be a bit excessive for what hes looking to  do. Hes not looking to have a Track car. This is his daily and literally thats all it will ever be. He just wants a bit more stopping power for when he's driving. Any advice on which of the two kits best first him would be appreciated. In the meanwhile, i'm going to read up on this a bit more.

The power stop will fit the bill perfectly for his needs!

I'll try to remember your comforting words of wisdom if my wp ever turns my Edge into a 2 ton boat anchor.

i got you bro, if you need any other words of wisdom for you to ignore let me know bruh .

P.s. - it would be a 2 ton land anchor....unless you are gonna tow it and dump into a body of water.

No. Do you know of any manufacturers out there that recommend alternator or starter motor replacements as part of scheduled maintenance? Or even tires? Such a silly argument.

The real problem with this design is failure of a wear item like a water pump can destroy the engine. Forget that a wp replacement costs $2k, that's not the worst part of it. And it's happened to many, even under 150k miles. Do a search on Flex, Edge and Taurus 3.5l water pump failure. This design is indefensible, I actually find it pretty amusing there are people trying to defend such a dumb design. Ford should have designed an engine that would fit in these vehicles with an external wp. If that meant losing a few hp then so be it. If that meant that a 6 cyl engine was impossible, then whoever designed these vehicles with such small engine bays should have been fired and new vehicles should have been drawn up.

You know that every design has its weak points right?  Being an engineer myself you cant satisfy every requirement all the time, most likely this was a compromise and i bet it wont be done again with a new block.  Its literally cheaper to pay for replacement than to be resigned.  just accept its a flaw and move on ?

We have a 18' Edge SEL with approx. 41k on it .

I noticed it last year and it is a minor annoyance , now this winter the noise is really loud.   Also happens with  super wet condition and the temp are cooler.

Sounds kinda like a combination of sick goose , horny moose, and a dog getting its ass kicked.   You can get the idea, its loud and abrasive.

Seriously it sets off our neighbors dogs,  who think they are being invaded by some new creature.

This only happens with the 1st drive of the day, or has been sitting for some time ( say more than 4 hrs).

It seems to come from the rear brakes and only happens while braking and clears up after a few feet and less than maybe 6 brake applications.

There is also the first few times of applying the brakes that they are really grabby & that happens no matter the time of year or dampness.

I read that this similar issue came up around 2007-2009 but have not come across the remedy .

To be clear....The  brakes are fine afterwards and give no indication of malfunction or serious problems.

We did have the brakes checked with the last oil change at the dealership and no scoring or loose or binding or worn items were found.

Is there a fix other that changing pads??

Sounds like a pad compound issue,  the power stop Z/28 is a perfectly fine solution that is quiet and gives great performance

    Need some help...

I have a 2017 Ford Edge SEL 2.0 with dual climate control.  No matter what temp I set the climate control at I am getting NO heat at all.

Rather than pay a $110 diagnostic fee I'd rather reach out to see if there are any "simple" solutions first.

This just started happening the last couple days.

Okay lets start with the basics:

    1. is the car getting up to temperature
    2. is the blower motor functional
    3. does the a/c work
    4. if you lock the dual climate and go to two extremes does it work
    5. if you put the zone at the most extreme opposites do they work

maybe we can internet trouble shoot this

Check your coolant tank and see if it's low.  (Back left of engine bay)

Open your oil cap and see if it's miscolored, pull your dip stick and see if it's miscolored.

If your oil looks pasty or "not like oil should look" you likely have a coolant leak into the cylinder as well.

The ONLY thing that multiple mechanics told me was a solution was a full engine replacement.

    Hopefully you're under warranty.

if they are trying to get you to replace an engine for no heat, get a new shop.

if you have milk in your oil pan, and you caught it with few miles on it, you dont necessarily need a new motor, many things can lead to this.

Hook up a OBD code reader and see if you are getting any DTC/ error codes.

this needs to be done too, look for secondary codes also.

    Real world it’s getting 28-30 ?

Is that your average?  if so thats still not horrible, if i were you though i would take a peak at the BMW 335D or if you need some cargo the X3 Diesel. I have a 335D and on the highway i average 42mpg on 40 cetane and about 48mpg on 50 cetane.

Since @BeDevil79 is talking about a UK spec vehicle, it is important to remember that the imperial (UK) gallons are not the same as US gallons – a UK gallon equals 4.55 litres while a US gallon equals 3.785 litres. So MPG numbers will be higher than in the US (~20% higher).

Ugh freedom units are so complicated.....we all just need to use metric....

Yeah it’s true, the Edge can’t be ordered new in the UK now, but it’s made the used prices go back up by about £2k from what I can see, they’re just a bit too expensive here!

Kuga (Escape) sells A LOT more, ours is ST Line-X with every option except tow bar, and I had the deep impact blue as it’s the best colour and most ST looking - the UK one has full body kit the Escape doesn’t have afaik? It’s 2.0 diesel with 180hp, pretty quick but bad on fuel!

I think the UK and US have different definitions of "Bad on fuel"  what kinda mileage you get?

Edit: 47.9MPG !?!?!?!? idk what you complaining about...... our edge on E85 is averaging 17~18mpg.....

My point is for 50K they could have done allot better.  I know the interior is dated but I am okay with that (the refresh version hopefully is nicer) but I have a GT500 running 10's so no I didn't buy this for the drag strip but when a 2019 Honda Passport takes me from the light and I have to be at 60+mph to over take it well that sucks.  Adding insult we get to the next light and I have my window down and he says "I though those were suppose to be fast"  :(  He is 280hp maybe and no where near the torque and here I am in what Ford Performance has blessed to be a performance SUV but because how this thing is tuned (factory) and the trans it is a pig IMO from a dead stop.  I don't expect to be able to out run high end suv's but damn a honda passport puts it on me.  Limited boost in 1st and 2nd because they are afraid the trans or drive line won't handle it...my suggestion is make it handle it I am willing to  pay more for performance my budget was 55K for something new and I didn't want Dodge so it left me with this.  The explorer ST would have been a close 2nd but I don't need 7 passenger vehicle but I do like the 10 speed can take abuse I see guys at the drag strip with 10 speed GT mustangs beating the crap of there car and no issues so far but I know ours can't have that 10 speed.  Do I hate the car NO.. it rides good,  handles very well for being a tank, great sound system, the AC will freeze you in the summer within a few minutes,  getting 25.5 avg mpg highway which isn't bad,  now it does have more safety crap than I need,  I don't need lane assist, I don't need adaptive cruise, or for the car to brake if it doesn't think I am going to maybe when I am older would appreciate all that but that is the way that all cars are just happy I won't have to fix it any of that while I own it :)

This is the ST isnt it?
