  1. Mine came with the Hancook S1 Noble tires (sport, 20's) and they seem pretty loud to me. I can't say that I have pushed the car that hard, but from past experiences Michelin tires are 99% of the time the best tires. They will cost more, but they will be quiet, last longer, handle best (especially in rain/snow) and are also usually lighter. losing 3 pounds per tire makes a huge difference in acceleration, braking, basically handling in general. I am not ready for tires yet, but I am considering a swap soon anyway just for preference. I currently plan to go with Michelin Premier LTX... same OD as stock as well.
  2. Loving this setup, in general. As another poster suggested, I would prefer to drop those resonators and the x-pipe for an all-in-one Magnaflow 12468. Full TBE with ceramic coated DP section, all 2.5" and T-304 SS. Not sure you would even need muffler's or just pipes to the ground effects... depending on sound. I didn't see the thickness they are using? .049 or .065? curious about that and weight. What kind of price for this full setup?
  3. I will ask him. Gotta stop by for some snow-foam "soap" soon
  4. LOL you saw my pics in the Welcome forum about 3 weeks ago (IPAD did the detailing, ceramic...)
  5. When I bought the car it had 87 octane in it from the dealer, and I used 87 for the 1st tank or 2. I was averaging 18.5 mpg with my normal commute and driving style. I switched to 93 octane and, all else the same, I am showing 19.5-19.7 mpg now and I can "feel" a better throttle response. I can't say it is faster, necessarily, but definitely more responsive (so probably more power). I have a 2017 Sport so 2.7TT Seems like I remember "premium gas is preferred, but 87 will work" whether that was the dealer or my owner's manual or what, I don't remember honestly. I personally do feel like higher octane is better since it apparently helps keep the engine cleaner for longevity, more power and gas mileage (I did buy a sport model, just saying), and hey why not save a little gas. I use Shell gasoline. I have not used an injection cleaner yet, as I only have 3900 miles, but I usually use Lucas Injector cleaner with upper cylinder lubricant. Cheers
  6. WELCOME! Same for me, 2017 Sport. Had a 2014 Limited. Loving it as well.
  7. Love it! Now I can maintain HWY speeds without having to floor it on every hill The new display/nav and seats are better too. Suspension is much more crisp and handles better, of course not quite as "smooth" but I am a performance guy. I like/d both, but I certainly feel like I got an upgrade as well. In addition the new Edge has a TON more bells and whistles, especially the panaramic roof, Nav, and BLIS. Plus now I have a new vehicle instead of 2nd-hand and the difference, to me, is night and day. Gained about 1 mpg on average with exact same driving habits and routes. So, yes, the gas mileage is basically paying for the increased payment.
  8. My 2017 Sport has almost 4k miles on it. I have had it for maybe 3 months? Anyway, if the PTU is having heat issues and the OEM stuff is crap (no surprise) then I might as well go ahead and put some real oil in it. I have been a huge Red Line junkie for years! Both my 350z and BMW 335i had Red Line products in various systems, and those cars were modified and tracked... the stuff WORKS, excellent brand. So, it looks like I am lucky and my PTU has a drain valve? The Red Line website doesn't even acknowledge Ford Edge vehicles, but I guess because our PTU is sold as maintenance free. Either way, it looks like their 75-140 GL5 Gear Oil (popular in F150 trucks) would be perfect for this application since it is literally designed for maximum heat protection. As far as the engine, they told me 1st oil change is free... and I think these cars do have automatic oil change indicators but I would rather do it now (get both done at 5k miles, engine by them and PTU myself). Hopefully they will do that and get their freebie out of the way, plus I am assuming they will do a vehicle inspection at that time as well, and top off stuff like washer fluid. Once I start doing my own oil changes, it will be Red Line (just saying). I plan to add Red Line water-wetter to the coolant eventually as well. The rear diff, or RDU I believe you guys call it, can probably wait until about 25k miles for it's oil change. Bouncing ideas, any thoughts? Am I missing something? Hmm, might as well throw in a K&N air filter too, looks like 33-5000 model number for $50 free shipping. Now I just need some catless 3" downpipes Cheers
  9. I did Google and that came out to 25.5568 mpg still not bad going nearly 80 mph
  10. My 2017 Edge Sport (AWD of course) stays between 19.5-19.7 mpg. I do about 55 miles round trip to work, and probably 40 or so of that is interstate. I usually go between 80-85 mph. In my previous 2014 Edge Limited (AWD, 3.5 v6) I was getting about 1 mpg less with the same scenario. Car has less than 4k miles so far and I haven't changed the oil yet or anything. Not sure if it comes with "break-in" oil or if changing it will make a difference anyway. I use 93 octane. I will say, I can tell a huge difference watching the real-time mpg bar float back and forth stays above 20 A LOT more when I slow down and go 75 vs. my normal driving. Put me in the Smiles per gallon category I guess, and I actually am trying to get good mileage lol (like not flooring the car and trying to maintain constant speeds). It is just the rate of speed that is hurting mine.
  11. Certainly understand the concerns. There are many various coatings, based on what you want and... well, let's face it, price. I got the Gtechniq Crystal Serum 7 year "guaranteed" coating and I know that I got my money's worth. I have a brochure signed and dated by Chase (IPAD) and it supports the 7 year guarantee. I also have a decal in my driver's side door well with the same information. I attached some pics showing the warranty, maintenance instructions, etc. There are different levels, based on budget, but IPAD is a certified installer of the professional line of products (not available to the public) and I assure you there are extreme differences. Either way, I am beyond happy
  12. Just got it detailed, inside and out (including engine bay). Paint was 2 stage cut and polished, then coated in a 7 year ceramic called Crystal Serum. Pretty happy with results Insane Auto Paint Detailing did the work http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/23264-hey-there/?do=findComment&comment=178813
  13. Finally! Got it detailed. Full exterior and interior detailing, including the engine bay... and I got a 2 stage cut and polish for the paint to make sure it was flawless. I also had them apply a 7 year warranty ceramic, Crystal Serum, and the vehicle looks PERFECT! I took a couple of pics with my Galaxy Tab S3, and I will get some high-res from Chase (owner) once he posts them all to Instagram. Enjoy
  14. Yeah that is a good 10 year, a bit pricey. I am looking probably more along the lines of this 7 year one... Gtechniq Crystal Serum "CS Black" 7yr It will depend on what Chase recommends too. Still haven't pulled the trigger for sure, I could end up with just a polish and wax Ceramic is pretty expensive, but in the long run can actually be cheaper than yearly waxing. I have until mid December to decide I guess
  15. Sorry, been out of pocket for a bit. Here is a link to the detailer I am using: http://www.insanepaintdetailing.com/ceramic-coatings.html
  16. Either way, it was a constant result measured over 6 years of track use I am certainly convinced. To each their own
  17. my detailer is booked until 12/11 unless he gets a cancellation :/ Going for extreme detail with polish and wax, topped off with ceramic coating for 7+ years of protection...
  18. The temperature gauge underneath the tachometer in the BMW. I assumed it was water... maybe it was oil. Either way, it ran cooler. Hey, I am just the driver lol... EDIT: Yeah, lol definitely oil. Here is a pic: Ran around 240-250 unless at track, would get up near 260. After Redline, Never got above about 248 even at the track. Normal driving it stayed down around 240.
  19. Made a pic, just sitting in my garage. Hasn't been detailed yet, just how I received it from the dealer a couple of days ago.
  20. Hmm, looking through the forums trying to learn about this vehicle. So the exhaust system Y's into 1 muffler and then duals out? People are talking about welding new cat-back and axle-back exhausts on... I find it hard to believe this entire exhaust system, TBE, is 1 piece? That's horrible lol. My last car had primary cats in the downpipes, and 2ndary cats in the exhaust, followed by a resonator and a muffler on each side. I ended up running 3 inches TBE with no cats, true dual and straight through mufflers for maximum flow. There was a small H section for sounds purposes, the turbos themselves provide more than enough back-pressure!
  21. I previously owned a Nissan 350z and then a BMW 335i. in the 350z I started using Mobil 1 full sythetic but I noticed after a while it was leaving black exhaust residue on the back of my car. I also noticed temps weren't any different from the stock oil. I changed over to Redline and the black crap stopped and average track temperatures dropped by about 5 degrees. In the 335i, same results when switching from the BMW stock Euro-Castrol blend over to Redline oil. 5-10 degrees cooler at the track. I later added Redline water-wetter to the radiator and dropped another 3-5 degrees. Redline is the real deal. It is ether-based and seems to work much better than newer type synthetics for keeping temperatures cool. Usually runs about 12-14 dollars per quart... I do plan to use it in this 2.7EB as well: engine oil, radiator additive, transmission fluid if applicable (my 1st automatic lol) , and differential fluid. The 335i also had a top mounted open-element filter, with o-rings, and for comparison I never found anywhere but the dealer to buy them. OEM, yep, but they worked great! FYI I never had issues with O2 sensors, etc. using Redline and the 335i was also a DI TT engine that I am sure is just as advanced if not more so...
  22. I enjoyed the 3.5, it has power with RPM's. I guess it is all relevant, I previously had a BMW 335i heavily modified/tuned so the boost addiction goes deep I still like the 2014 body style, 1 of a kind Yeah, I need to do a thorough detailing on it before I take official pics ... I have a lineup of McGuire NXT wash and wax to apply so the black color looks wet and glassy! Maybe this weekend.
