  1. I completely agree with you on there. Every single one of my vehicles has been modified/not stock. The Edge is probably the most stock vehicle I have. Manufacturer claims are somewhat accurate, but they don't include the tiny fine print that says the HP peak is reached at like 5800 RPM for .00001 seconds. What really makes a difference is the power through the torque curve. People just look at it and immediately gravitate to "OMG 10hp over stock!!!", when in reality... it's like 1hp over stock over the power band with a split second of max HP right before the engine shifts. Most modern ECUs are going to level out the gains anyways. I'm not sure about the Edge's Ecoboost management platform, but my Focus ST had torque targets which limited maximum power. A basic drop in with a snorkel probably didn't make any power, but it sure felt like my turbo was spooling up quicker. When it comes to my Edge, it doesn't have as drastic an effect but seems to work better at highway speeds considering the stock airbox is already a "true" cold air intake. The only TRUE way to reap the benefits of an intake is to tune, N/A or F/I... My old Charger had an AEM CAI with the heat shield box. It didn't make any difference until I opened a hole underneath the intake through the fender and tuned it. That little 3.6 ripped so many V8s to pieces! Other than that one case, I always like to stick with intakes that draw fresh air outside the engine bay.
  2. I have been looking too. What I did on my old Charger is I bought some of that fake carbon fiber vinyl film from Pep Boys and just cut to fit. Amazingly it lasted 60k miles and still was in great condition when I traded the car in at 110k. Thinking about doing the same for the Edge. Plus it only costs like $15 tops I think.
  3. I have never liked paper filters. On all 16 of my vehicles, a K&N (or dryflow) made a noticeable difference to me. It's all up to the driver and individual preference. Dyno may or may not show gains, but it's all about driveability for me. Longevity isn't an issue for me. All of my vehicles have had one filter that's been cleaned maybe every 20k. I don't keep vehicles much past 100k anyways.
  4. I do goose the throttle from time to time. I find myself doing it even more during winter time, and I'm averaging 24-25mpg mixed driving. I do not drive like a granny at all. In the summer, I do take it easier due to heat and how it doesn't play nice with turbos. (Former Focus ST owner) I bought the filter, because I have always noticed better highway throttle response with them with all of my vehicles. It's true that it might not make a difference at city speeds, but at least I am able to clean it instead of buying new ones. If I wanted even more "power", I would have gone with a Pro 5R instead of the Dry filter. I have twin girls due anytime now, which is the main reason I sold my ST and got the Edge. So longevity is my priority.
  5. I overlooked that at first. You have to click on the tiny picture of the filter above the "add to cart" button and you'll end up with Dry S filter. Part # 31-10260 The oiled filter allows a bit more airflow/power at 98.6% filtration rate. I wanted maximum filtration, so I went with the Dry S which is (I think) 30% more airflow than stock but 99.2% filtration. Results : During summer on summer blend gas, Dry S filter, and muffler delete--- I was averaging 30-31mpg on the highway with a very sensitive throttle. Now that it's cold, these little 2.0 Ecoboosts do NOT do well with Winter blend gas. My old Focus ST was the same way. Spring and Fall are where I see the most power gains. hehe Right now I'm averaging between 24 and 25mpg mixed driving on winter blend.
  6. I personally use an AFE dry filter.
  7. Following this, as I'm curious how it works for the 2.0.
  8. I forgot to update here. I did the TSB at a dealer and my Edge doesn't buck or surge any more. However, it has a REALLY ANNOYING issue of upshifting too high at low speeds. I am bogging the engine at 15-20mph after making a turn at low speeds. Feels like a stick shift one gear too high, and I can replicate it almost perfectly each time. It also feels like the performance dropped a bit since the TSB. It takes a lot longer to downshift when goosing it.
  9. Completely and utterly awesome!!! So it would function as a close range chip reader if the fob battery is dead or frequency isn't picked up.
  10. I was cleaning, and found out that there's like an opening of sorts in the front bottom of the armrest console area. Does anyone have any idea what it's for? 2019 owners, open the center console and stick your arm down and then forward.
  11. You can't take a video of it really. It's very random as well. Only happens with uneven road surfaces...
  12. Ever since I got my 2019 Edge, I've noticed something weird when I am turning, accelerating briskly, and the road is uneven (like a hump) ; my steering wheel will vibrate like the lane departure warning went off. The lane departure system is off, and I have no lights coming on with traction control issues. Condition of the road does not matter. It just has something to do with the "hump" in the road? Anyone else have this and know what it is? It's really weird.
  13. The headlights on my 2019 (LED) are quite nice in spread, but lacking in intensity. High beam is quite decent but doesn't have much distance. With all the deer on my drive to work (5AM) and trips to the hunting cabin 2 hours away--- I really want to mount a set of auxilary lights on my 2019. I have no fog lights either. Are there any hood hinge mounts (preferred) that I can find or have someone make? Or any kind of light bar that mounts on the bumper easily? I don't want one of those license plate brackets, because I'm thinking that with the plastic bumper construction... it would just bounce the lights all over the place. Or anyone actually mount a nice looking setup in the blank foglight housing?
  14. Selling 2015-2019 Ford Edge SE (5-spoke 18") IMP429BLK CCI Imposter Wheel skins in gloss black. I used these for about 2 months and took them off before the winter salt came here in NY. I'm finding I like my silver wheel look better. Hoping someone here can benefit from this more than I. They are in near perfect shape and are in the original box and wrapped up now. Here's the product page: http://coast2coastinternational.com/product/imp429blk/ Asking $55 (PayPal only) shipped anywhere in CONUS. If using PayPal G&S, $60 will do it. (They cost me $90 shipped via Amazon)
  15. Can anyone with a SE confirm if there's a light there on the heat dial? I keep thinking it's supposed to be there but not sure.
  16. Is there supposed to be a light for the "notch" on my temperature knob? It's awful hard to see at night.
  17. Anyone have a remedy for the side view mirrors dripping water over a long period of time? For example, I did a full wash and detail on my Edge last weekend. Even one day later, closing the front doors will cause water to drip out onto the body from the side mirrors. I had the same issue with my old Jeep JK and drilled a hole under the mirror plastic to help it drain. Think that would do the trick here?
  18. I know this is older, but wanted to state that peanut butter works for this as well.
  19. More black on the way. I have a set of imposter wheel skins coming in. Thought $90 shipped would be better than $800+ for aftermarket wheels.
  20. On my Focus I was able to display the instant MPG on Trip 1, but with the Edge I have to navigate back to Fuel Economy and then click a few times to check instant MPG. I wish I could see the instant mpg by simply pressing up in Trip 1 as I usually leave my display on the speedometer. Anyone know a button trick and/or Forscan hack to change the trip time to instant MPG like in the image? Bonus question: any way to reset mpg for the life of the vehicle under the four way screen of the Fuel Economy portion?
  21. I wonder if models without upgraded speakers have to be wired, or is the wiring already there for plugging in an amp?
  22. Correct. Taste is the answer here. I ordered the SE over the SEL merely to have less chrome. I do wish I had heated seats and sync 3, but black trim done right just is sexy to me.
  23. I don't have Nav on my 4" sync. So it still has GPS?
