  1. Try using the paddles to start in 2nd. In auto mode the edge ST is a dog off the line. Especially if at any elevation. Like you I came from a muscle car Challenger and Charger Scat packs (485hp/475tq) The edge st will do 0-60 in 5.7s in sport mode automatic but it sure doesn't feel that way.
  2. I have a 2020 and get terrible gas mileage. There is zero justification for the tiny twin turbo. U get worse highway mileage than my brick of a car Dodge Challenger with the 6.4L around the city I got 7-9 MPG in the Challenger. I get 11-13mpg in my Edge. I drive both very hard. I also rented an expedition Max with the dumb 3.5L and got 18mpg on the highway trying my darndest to get the best mpg possible (granted we were were high elevation on probably 85 octane gas) when i know personally that the Chevy Tahoe and Sierra pickup can get 21mpg easily with the 5.3L The ecoboost is a virtue signal and nothing more. It doesn't provide any mpg benefit of a larger naturally aspirated engine (especially when compared to one's with cylinder deactivation) it's all about weight, aerodynamics, driving style and gear ratio.
  3. Did the one out in Utah last month. It was awesome. Had to fly from. Florida to Utah and rent a car but it was well worth it for the autocross event alone. Being at almost 8000 feet I could tell there was a performance loss vs here on a somewhat cold day in Florida. Ours were also 2019s, not only did it have the door on the dash (which I dislike) but it has a better shelf in the center console which I wish my 2020 had. In Utah we got to shoot Olympic .22s from the biathlon (awesome). No offroading for the edges. We got to do the skid car and a self parking demonstration. Considering I got my car for 11k off sticker I'm super happy that it was still included. A real treat. No masks were required outside of the hotel which was was nice. Also, if you go by yourself you get to do more if the driving (or if your passenger doesn't want to) so I got 3 runs on the autocross and evasive driving course but if I was solo I would have gotten 6 runs on the autocross and 5 on the evasive. The people with the best times were obviously solos since they had more practice and less weight. They have a dashcam that records forwards and backwards and they give you the microSD card to take home which is a huge plus. I'm currently working on putting all the clips together to upload to YouTube. I'm not usually someone that goes out of my way to do things like this, usually I say "eh, it's a PITA" and getting to Utah and boarding my dog certainly were a PITA, but the trip was worth it.
  4. It's not a fault, it's a design flaw... They don't move every time unless they're out of alignment, but if you have them up they have to be out of alignment because the car tucks them away automatically, which is what happened. It tucked them away but they were in the up position.
  5. yea, that's definitely fair. How dare I hit the ignition switch with the windshield wipers up. Question, how the hell do all of you in cold climates scrape the ice off your windshields? PLEASE don't defend such a stupid feature. Turning the car on with the windshield wipers up should not be a crime. If the car needs to move the windshield wipers every time they are out of place, the car should also be smart enough to know that they are in the up position. Like seriously, this is a problem because of Ford's stupid side-mounted independent motor wipers. Why wasn't the normal windshield wiper layout acceptable? Because they pretend like it gives people that much more visibility? Like everyone on the road with normal wipers can't see anything when it rains?
  6. pretty much nothing you said is relevant. Not every new car has start/stop and even if/when they do I will still hate it if it's implemented as poorly as it is on my edge st. I assume you don't drive an Edge ST because I have never come anywhere close to 35mpg. I drove the car on a 1200 mile highway trip with it on cruise control at 70 for the majority of that trip and got 24ish. I have no comment on city driving, I know that varies a ton depending on how you drive, I got 9mpg in the city in my Scat Packs but I floored it from a stop every time so that's expected. But long highway driving... I'm not sure what the point of the performance brakes comment was. Why is it that my 45k Charger and Challenger can have real performance brakes but the 52k Edge ST can't? No, it doesn't have an exhaust note. I knew that going in. But again, amalgamation. I don't know what to tell you about the wipers, it has happened twice now. Once with me, today and then way earlier when Safelite repaired a chip with 300 miles on it. That time I only had one chip on the drivers side, now at least I have a matching pair. Please do not imply that the edge is a cheap car, it's not. There are things to like about the edge, the seats are great and the sunroof is awesome, and again it looks great. But the Edge ST is truly a case of less is more. All the silly features they put in for whatever reason just make it worse. I'm glad you all love everything about your car, as it seems folks here are very defensive about it. I called out every problem on my Dodge products too but they are CHEAP cars. I expect that from them, I don't expect that from a 50k+ car.
  7. I got a dog which is the main reason I traded my Challenger (though the steering wheel is why I traded it at only 9 montha). I need 4 doors unfortunately, I love the supra though. If I could afford a 50k 2nd car I'd definitely have it lol.
  8. I dont drive the edge aggressively anymore. It doesn't want to be driven aggressively (see comment about brakes). It still gets garbage gas mileage. And yes, the 2.7 is tiny. In my life, 5 of my 6 other cars (with the one exception being my focus) had a bigger engine, 4 with engines more than double the displacement. It's fine, they were NA and this is TT, but I still don't see the point. I thought it was for gas mileage, which clearly it isn't.... just a way to fool the epa? I have considered disabling all the functions you mentioned but I'm not sure it's worth any money since I probably won't have the car too much longer and I don't want to risk voiding any warranty. I'm not gonna lie, when I I the edge I thought "at least I'll get good gas mileage at a time when prices are about to sky rocket" so you'll imagine my disappointment to learn that I get 22-24 mpg on the highway. I think your 2017 is better than the 2020, that was when it was an Edge sport, right? I test drove an Edge sport (I didn't test this one since the dealer had to ship it to me) and it felt a lot better off the line. Maybe the 21 inch wheels make it worse, idk.
  9. You think I would have bought a car knowing I would hate it? Most of the issues aren't things that come up in a test drive... Like I said it's an amalgamation of all the little things. The fact that my windshield wipers just chipped my hood for no damn reason is BEYOND infuriating.
  10. This should probably be put in "owner impressions" section Didn't take long. It's all the little things that add up to me hating the car. Let's start with the immediate cause for me writing this: WHY DO THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS HAVE TO MOVE EVERY DAMN TIME YOU TURN THE CAR ON. I made the mistake of turning the car on with the wipers up after washing it and now I have two beautiful chips on my hood. Or maybe I should ask why Ford designed wipers/hood that the wiper arms hit the hood? Had the same problem on my Focus from eight years ago, how have they not learned? Next, I hate the stop/start, it doesn't work and it has caused me to mess up my steering wheel by the car still being off when I was sitting in traffic and I went to turn the wheel. Features like this that save exactly zero gallons of gas should be neither seen nor heard, if you can't make it that way, don't put it on the car. Speaking of fuel mileage, my car gets garbage fuel mileage, what is the point of having a tiny complex ecoboost engine if it gets just as bad fuel economy as anything else? My Challenger got better highway mileage than this, despite being a brick and having an engine from the stone ages that had more than double the displacement, and despite me driving that like a muscle and driving the edge like a minivan. The USB port does not recognize my USB stick with music on it immediately (didn't have this issue in ANY of the four straight dodges I owned, my brother has a mustang and says he has the issue as well) and the car is too stupid to hold off on playing anything until it does, so it switches to the radio and then I have to manually switch it back every time. Again, been eight years since my Focus but Sync is no better... Why does Ford insist on telling us what's good for us? Why is there no option to turn off the double honk with door closed and engine on? We know the option exists, why does Ford refuse to let us control the thing we spent tens of thousands of dollars on? The fake engine noise and/or noise cancelling is awful. Like another user mentioned and I have mentioned before, you can hear an awful noise under acceleration. It doesn't sound like the engine, it doesn't sound like a turbo (at least in my case), it sounds like static. I have yet to figure out a single instance where I desired to have the piped in audio, how do they sell a car without the option of turning it off? Next segway, sound. Why did they release a car with an ST badge that has not an ounce of an exhaust note? Neighbor's Mazda CX-5 makes a better sound than my supposed performance SUV... And finally, performance. How did Ford manage to take a car with 380ft-lb of torque and 335 hp and make it feel so dead? Why is that the BMW X5 which has less power is almost a full second faster than our Edge ST to 60mph? I supposedly have performance brakes but it sure doesn't feel that way, the SUV weighs basically the same as my Charger or Challenger Scat Packs did and they had skinnier tires but they stopped on a dime... It kills me because the Edge ST looks great but it's ruined by stupid engineering decisions (or maybe they're nanny-state decisions). I regret so much that Dodge pissed me off so much with a noisy steering wheel that it sent me over to Ford, I really do. Idk what my next car will be but it won't be a Ford. I'm sure the majority of my complaints are brand-wide, not simple Edge ST complaints.
  11. It's the speaker. It's an idiotic "feature" and it sounds like a blown speaker to me but that's what it is. Manufactured by the car for whatever reason.
  12. It is a big deal. This feature sucks. It has already messed up my steering wheel because I turned the wheel when the car was "off" and now it makes a click when I turn the wheel. 2k miles on the clock. If you're going to introduce a stupid feature like this that doesn't provide any benefit, it should be foolproof.
  13. I noticed it. The one I drove must have been a 2015 because I was still in MA and I test drove it before I bought my 2015 challenger. I am really talking about off the line. The 2015 felt to me like the x5 feels. Instant powe, which is what I expected from the edge ST being an ecoboost. I've got the 265s so I'm not sure I can break the tires loose. I definitely can't just be flooring it. Maybe if I launch with the brakes. I won't tune the car though, probably only have it for another year or so but I don't want to risk any warranty issues (I know, I know, but I'm not going to fight an auto maker in court if they say I voided warranty). I am seriously considering the forscan to turn off auto start stop though. Worst feature on the car.
  14. Meh. I probably should have done some research or test drove before buying. I didn't realize the fwd bias would make such a difference. Frankly I don't care about the 0-60 time that much. 5.7 seconds is plenty fast. Even in my Scat Packs I only broke 5 seconds occasionally and that felt like lightspeed. Normally I'd do it in around 5.5-6 seconds. What does bother me is the feel. It's probably due to lack of boost like you're saying but there is no enjoyment off the line with these cars. So underwhelming. I tested a Ford Edge Sport with the ecoboost before I got either of my scat packs and maybe I'm misremembering but I could have sworn they had a lot of oomph off the line. Maybe I just didn't know what fast was at that point.
  15. I wasn't aware that it skipped 2nd already. Idk its just a bit underwhelming. Why can the standard x5 do it in under 5 seconds when our cars take 5.7? Despite weighing less and having more torque? I mean I know x5 = more expensive but... the edge st is supposed to be sporty lol. It has to be terrible gearing, right?
  16. Really??? Well do our cars already skip gears like the mustang 10 speed or no? If no then I guess the 2021s must be faster.
  17. They put a 7 speed transmission in the new 2021 ST. As a 2020 owner I really hope it's not significantly quicker than ours, though it really should be since ours should be doing 0-60 in 5 seconds flat with the power we have and AWD.
  18. It could be. Would it make sense to only be audible when in sport mode?
  19. Hey everyone, I think the speaker that does the fake engine noise is blown (tho idk) already. When I put the car into "S" mode there is a constant whooshing noise coming from what sounds like the left A-pillar. Turn off "S" mode and it goes away. I guess it could be the intentional sound but I have no idea what noise they possibly could have been trying to imitate lol. The noise happens when the car is stopped idling at a light as well as one the move. I'm sure if I bring it to the dealer for this issue they'll say they can't replicate it, is there a way I can deactive the fake engine noise?
  20. The diagram is correct. Mine is installed and working excellent Attached is the correct wiring.
  21. I looked at that but I didn't want all that cable if the on I got doesn't work for some reason I'll try that. The right way to do this is to use a multimerer but my prongs are too big.
  22. I believe the wire on the left is the one that goes to the mirror. It's possible the 16 pin and the 5 pin would work. I found these diagrams (for a 2020 explorer) on another site, unfortunately my multimeter pins are too big to get into the spots to tests so I guess I'll have to best guess it. I ordered the dongar mini usb cable and a 1 foot extension cable since the dongar looks pretty short.my goal will be to run the cable up to the headliner and then to the dash came in a U shape, as I had it with the Challenger.
  23. Got it off. I know why it was so hard. The plate goes all the way to the edge unlike on my dodge. So if you use a tool you need to only put it a tiny bit in other wise you'll be prying the whole thing off the windshield (btw, this is going to be a nightmare expense to replace the windshield if it cracks). I ordered that Dongar adapter since it's 1 day shipping. So where am I going with this now? What two cables do I tap into? It's not exactly the same as the f150 though my edge and your Nautilus do seem to have the same connectors.
  24. lol thanks for checking. The wire taps seem easy enough but I liked the idea of having a capacitor. Was kind of hoping the power connector was this one, since it looks like 16 pin haha Well I guess dongar makes taps with the capacitor as well haha https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07R7JGCL1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_FXXPSM0WMZ10H3VA7GMJ
  25. Thanks! FWIW I used the dongar adapter on my Challenger and it was great. It hides in the shroud.
