  1. Hi All,

Firstly, I have a 9 speaker ford stock speaker setup.

I have been running Rockford 3-way in rears and I am pretty satisfied with sound. The stock would sound distorted at higher volumes, these don't so far

Recently, I was listening to music around 22 volume and +5 bass, the stock front speaker sounded fine till 20 but at 22 I could feel the front speaker distort, whereas rear seemed just fine. (Just to add my fader is just +3 from rear)

Now, I want to upgrade the front as well but after some research, the best way would be to go with component and I am quite inclined towards these (since I am on a budget).

However, I am not willing to change the stock tweeters since from some videos they seem to require modifications but that's for later. Before that, I am wanted to check if the front doors have crossovers installed from factory? And can I just replace front lower mid-range woofer with the above Rockford component woofer and call it a day?

Also, what is this device on the front door panels? (I might be sounding stupid here lol)

Any suggestions or guidance is welcomed!

  2. Mine is a SEL and has LED Signature lighting (those triangle one on the bumper). In Canada, we do not have configurable DRL option.

Currently, my car has low beams as DRL along with the signature LED triangles. I tried enabling the functionality for configurable DRL via settings. However, after changing the mentioned things on forscan, I got the menu and can toggle the menu but the toggling does nothing. The DRL(low beam) would remain off

  3. Hi All,

I added the DRL menu to my edge left digital screen. I changed these values below

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yax6zfhZYj2joBczEeruqKh9X5Qhee3C0ngilqwTA7E/pubhtml?gid=0&single=true

    image.png.0862743442452ad890ce317320026df4.png

And enabled the menu for IPC(via non-asbuilt menu) using forscan.

Now the thing is, the menu is there, I can toggle the menu but it does not turn on the DRL, the DRL stays off.

Any idea what I am missing?

I have same issue on my2020 edge, however there are no plastic clips on my covers. There are only the stamped metal nuts along the edges. How can I eliminate the rattling? I thought about pool noodles slid between panels and bottom of car. Would this work?

Hey, as from pictures from @Haz, my 2018 Ford Edge has similar layout as 2.7L model. All I did was, removing the loose middle clips on the side panels on both driver and passenger side and keep the good ones. And for the good ones I added double sided tape inbetween clips and frame to act as cushion and that worked for me. Driven 160 once and no rattle at all. Hope this helps

  5. Hi All,

I want to switch to high beam DRL instead of low beam since I upgraded to LEDs and the high beam is never used in my case so why not use it up for DRL and save the low beams for night drive.

I was checking Body Control Module and found DRL related parameters. I just wanted to be sure for what needs to be updated?

I have attached two option I feel needs to be changed but any advise is very much appreciated.

    The two parameters are

    • Allowed DRL Options
    • Using DRL with Turn Signals

    Thanks!

What model and radio (SE 6 speaker, SEL SYNC 3 and Premium Audio, Titanium/Sport with 12 speaker Sony w sub)? Must at least be 9 speaker as 6 speaker setup only has tweeters in the front.

I thought it it was like many other Fords and the wiring for them came off the lower speakers, but doesn't seem to be the case, the woofer and tweeter both are wired all the way separately so that is weird.

Mine is the SEL Sync 3 with 9 speakers.

To overcome the muddy sound on the left side I put it aftermarket speaker (https://www.crutchfield.ca/p_108R6532EM/Infinity-Reference-REF-6532ex.html) and disconnected the right side tweeter for even sound, but oblivious the bass from factory speakers were better so I wanna go back to it but want to fix the tweeter wiring first.

  7. Hi All,

I have been noticing a delay on driver side high beam. Whenever I toggle the high beam, there is slight delay on driver side. I believe it has been there since the time I swapped to LED, and I don't remember the halogen behavior as it has been a long time but passenger side is instant.

I swapped to different LED brands but still the same behavior.

Personally, I don't mind that much since I am using low beams for the most part but I would like to get rid of this issue

    Thanks in advance

  8. Hi All,

I have been noticing that from last 4 fills I have been using 91 octane but with 91 octane I find that the idle is not so smooth and there is shutter from 1-2 gear more on low speed specially when accelerating on 2nd gear.

I thought it might transmission, I re-did the fluid change before 20K kms, the fluid that came out still clean. But even after oil change I felt the shudder.

So I went back to using 87 octane, and from last 2 fills, the engine idle again smooth and rarely shutter occur depending on throttle input.

I know that 3.5L is a low compression engine but I felt 91 more responsive (probably placebo)

Any idea why would that be or anyone experienced shudder?

  9. Hi All,

Firstly, I am new to these forums so apologize if I made any mistakes posting this.

So, talking about the concern I have is. I have a highway rattle that occurs due to splash guard or underbody shields that are on both sides of the driver and passenger. I did fix it temporarily applying the idea from the post as mentioned.

    https://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/24176-solved-noise-or-rattle-above-40mph/

However, I am looking for a permanent fix. After some talks and Reddit, people suggested taking those splash guards off but I am not sure if I should do it since it kinda protects the metal frame.

But few suggest to take the clips off and leave if rested there by 10mm nuts which I think can work but can anyone suggest if it would be a good idea and if it will not harm anyway in the later run or saying driving at highway speeds.

    Thanks!

  10. Hi All,

I know I am responding to a quite old thread. But I had a few questions.

So as per the post, I applied some similar fixes. But after some talks and especially Reddit, some people suggested to simply just take it off which I am not quite in favor of.

The other is people simply removed the clips just resting the guard on the 10mm nuts, which I think might work but then I am concerned if that will have adverse, especially when driving at highway speeds.

    Can anyone give their opinions?

    Thanks!
