  1. I can't help you with the T connector but I ran my wiring form the battery down the driver'sw side of the vehicle. I ran the wiring down from the battery, near the steering column and then routed it dowl the middle fo the car and folloed some brake lines over to the dirver's side. Then I ran the wire between the heat shield and the body until I got back to the hitch area. There were plenty of places to zip tie the wires to so that they were secure. I also bought flexible wire loom to protect the wires from road debris and rubbing. Good luck with your installation.

  3. Sounds like you need to replace your rear bulbs. The rears are a dual filament bulb. When the lights are on, the dimmer of the 2 filaments is lit. When the brakes are applied, or the turn signals are turned on, the brighter of the 2 filaments is lit. Sounds like the brighter filament is bad on both sides. That would explain why the lights stay on after you turn the car off, but the brakes and turn signals won't work. Under 1 year and 12,000 miles, it's covered under warranty. After that, I'm not sure if it's covered under the BTB warranty ot if it's considered a "wear item". The backup light on our car is burnedout on the driver's side. I'll be taking it to the dealer for replacement because I noticed moisture in the tailight housing and it's going to need replacement.
  4. Ford's EcoBoost engines. Ford is moving towards turbocharging their enginers for better fuel economy. I know there is a 3.5L version, so I'm assuming the EB25 refers to the 2.5L version.

  6. I found a Class II (1.25") draw bar that has a 1" hole. I bought it at Cabela's. It doesn't look like it's on their website though. It was a little pricey at $40 because the only one I could find was stainless steel. I bought it when I thought that I was going to use my factory hitch for towing with a 2 5/16" ball, but I decided to upgrade to a Curt so that I could use a weight distributing hitch. I'd sell you my drawbar, but the cost of shipping it to Germnay would probably be cost prohibitive since it's rather heavy.
  7. We've got the white tri coat and we really like it. It looks good when it's dirty, and looks great when it's clean and the sun is shining on it. I agree with your assesment of the other colors. The red is good looking, but I think it looked odd on a vehicle this large. The blue was sharp, but if you're going that route, you might as well get black. One nice thing that I noticed about the white is that it shows the body lines a little more than the dark colors do, and prevents the Edge from looking like a huge block of a vehicle. You can see the shoulder line above the rear wheels, and the lines in the hood better on the light vehicle. Also, like Tom said, the difference is $500 and you really like it. In the grand scheme of things, is it that much of a big deal if you really like that color? We've got the charcoal intierior and we're happy with it as well. It's got the contrasting light stiching around the egdes that sets it off a little. Is Stone the tan interior? I would personally steer awat from it if it is tan, or even a light color. I like the lighter interior in that it makes the car feel bigger inside and slightly more luxurious (and hides dust better), but it does show stains over time. Not so much stains from spilling, but the dye from your jeans and you belt rubbing against it. Good luck.

  9. I get what you're saying, dadrett. But it's sounding like you're more concerned with how the dash will look for the person who buys the car from you, rather that how it will look for you while you own it and drive it everyday. I guess you're right, it might be a geezer thing
  10. It's actually something that you really need to be on the lookout for. Dealerships aren't making as much money selling vehicles so they are turing to their service departments to keep the money flowing in.
  11. For a lot of people here, the Class 3 hitch is preferred because they want to use hitch-mounted accessories (bike racks, cargo boxes,etc) that require a 2" receiver. If you didn't get the towing package and need to add a hitch, then why not add the one that will allow you to use most of the aftermarket accessories without having to adapt from the 1.25" up to the 2" receiver? In my case, the trailer that I wanted to tow weighs 3000 lbs and has a 2 5/16" ball. The majority of ball mounts out there for the Class 2 hitch only have a 3/4" mounting hole for the ball. The 2 5/16" ball requires a 1" hole in the ball mount. While I was able to find a ball mount that worked for my application, I decided to upgrade the Class 2 hitch to a Class 3 so that I could use a weight distributing hitch for improved stability....again a 2" receiver is required. Also, page 227 of the 2008 Ford Edge owner's manual says that max tongue weight on the Edge is 350 lbs with the towing package, 200 without.
  12. Looks good. What size tires do you have? The reason I ask is that the stock 20's come with 225/45's and it looks like you might have a little more fender gap than the stock Egde has with 20's. It could just be that haven't looked closely at the fender gap on my car in a while. I agree that thye look better than a fill black wheel.
  13. The toughest part was getting my hand behind the bumper cover to access the opening at the end of the frame rails. Other than that, I was surprised how easy it was. I found that it was easier for some of the smaller holes to start by fishing the wire backwards (the coiled end in first) through the hole and let the coiled end come out the end of the frame rail. Then I slipped on the washer and threaded the bolt into the fish wire. I already had the other end of the fish wire through the mounting hole, so I just had to pull it back through. I found that if I dind't do this, I'd have a hard time if I started by fishing the wire through the frame rail opening and then trying to grab the uncoiled end of the fish wire through the small hole in the frame rail. Trimming the heat shields was no problem. A decent set of tin snips will take care of it. I had to trim slightly more than the instructions illustrated, but it's really easy to see what has to be done once you get under there. I watched a couple of videos on YouTube of how to install the hitch and it made it easier for me. I couldn't find one for an Edge/MKX, but if you look at one for a minivan, it's very similar. Etrailer.com has quite a few on YouTube that demonstrate the installations. I'm a visual learner, and the videos were a big help.
  14. If anyone is looking to do this exact modification, the lights that Lex used are in fact for motorcycles like Lex posted. More specifically they are license plate mounting bolts with the LED's built in. That should make it easier to find online. They are used to replace the ugly light and mounting brackets on motorcycles (especially sport bikes).
  15. I have to agree witht he fake rivet comment. I'm a fan of "smooth" wheels that aren't too complicated. I've seen the Edge Sport wheels in person at a car show and they lokoed really good. 22" is too large in my opinion, but the style was nice. Aside for the look of fake rivets, they will be more difficult to clean. I've seen a lot worse suggested in this forum though, so yours aren't that bad. Also, we aren't buying the wheels for you or having to look at them everytime we see the car. Good luck.
  16. Dave, When I installed my hitch, I drove the rear of the car up onto ramps to give myself some extra room. Then I lowered the exhuast by unhooking the 3 rubber supports at the rear of the car. I found that if I let the exhaust hang down, it was stretching out the rubber hanger in the middle of the car too much. It might have been ok, but I was worred it would rip the hanger. I used a jack to support the exhaust near the middle of the car so that the stress was relieved from the middle hanger. It still left plenty of room to work on the hitch. This might not be necessary if you try to install the hitch without elevating the rear of the car, but I think it was alot easier with the extra room. Good luck if you decide to install one. I went with a Curt hitch and I'm happy with it. Very easy to install. Rich
  17. It shouldn't be too hard to get the correct hardware for the hitch. I would imagine that the hardest thing to find would be the rectangular washers that you fish into the frame rails.
  18. I installed a Curt on our Edge and I fished the bolts through the end of the frame rails. It's a little tight to get your hand in there, but the bumper cover is flexable and it does work. It was surprisingly easy to do.
  19. We bought a new 2008 Edge Limited AWD in the middle of February. It has Nav, BAMR, 20" wheels, tow package, white sand paint, cargo organizer, and all weather floor mats. Sticker was $39,7XX We paid $30,600 before taxes and fees and not including down payment and trade in.
