My insurance rates barely went up buying the Edge, and I was driving a 9 yr old truck worth $2700.00 at trade in time. I was expecting a huge increase. And agreed, fixing a foreign car is expensive, repairs and bodywork. For some unknown reason my dad just bought an Infinity and was horrified to find that a new key for it is $300.00, and it only comes with one. He also bought a cargo liner and some other little thing and that was $400.00.

MDX-Boring RX 330-More BORING If I had all of the money the world I would not buy either. The Lexus has been around so long with no exciting changes and everyone has one. And it comes in like two colors, tan and a different tan, or black. My Edge is pretty basic, I spent the $$ on the AWD and the shiny wheels, but I test drove a Limited and loved it. I love how it looks, it is pretty fast and the cargo space is outrageous. I put doors in it, a tree, bunches of large dog crates for a trip, all kinds of stuff and it never fills up! And the auto liftgate is the best thing since sliced bread.

With a big fat stinky price tag. When I bought my Edge I had owned GM my whole life and was disgusted with their lack of new design, I could not get my mind off of the Edge. So I made the switch. Last week we got snow and icy rain here and my Edge did well. I came up on a Cadillac. Not sure if the guy was being cautious or what, but it did not seem to be great in the snow. Maybe it was not equipped with AWD. Car was already too expensive maybe.

I looked at the CX-9 when I was shopping because of the third row. Scary. It is up against the back window and tiny. In a crash I cannot imagine what would happen, especially if rear ended. Speaking of competition for the MKX, anyone notice how much the new Cadillac SRX looks like an Edge? The profile is so close at first glance.

I saw the MKT on a tv commerical, and I originally thought it was the twin to the Taurus X (correct name?) wagon, but looking at it online it looks just like a Mazda CX-9. That rear side window is just like it. Not liking the front too much though.

Hi back bbf. Good to know, thank you.

No pink. That sucks. Thanks for the list.

That is why when you call a doctors office nowadays the message immediatly says 'if this is a life threatening emergency, hang up and dial 911'.

The headlights look very Chevy Tailblazer-like, kinda slanted and squinty. And is the tailgate as narrow side to side as it looks in the pic? I love how wide the back opens on the current models. And the back window looks smaller too. A 4 cyl would be a dealbreaker for me though. I am anxious to see one in person, any idea of a release date?

Not sure what year you have, Wikipedia says: If so equipped, check passenger side of engine at front for power cord Check right rear freeze plug for heater unit

I have been thinking about trading mine in and getting a 2010. I have vapor silver and love the color, hides the dirt. No longer made, but this silver is really nice. I would really like some more goodies. I wound up with a dvd system that I will never use. I see that you have lites in the cup holders etc that change color. Can you change it to pink? Just curious, saw on tv the Escape has pink lites. Thanks.

Beautiful, and your garage is awesome.

Did not find any drips on the garage floor, and have not noticed it since the weather warmed up a bit.

I will do that, it was a horrible smell unlike anything I have experienced before.

It's cold here. Yesterday was 4 degrees with a windchill of -20 or so. My Edge sat all day at work and when I left I let it run for a bit before taking off. I drove for about a half hour or so to get home at various speeds ranging from 30-55 mph. When I pulled onto my street I noticed a smell that at first made me think natural gas leak. But soon realized it was coming from the truck. Not an oil smell, not brakes, thinking it may be the antifreeze, but not sure why it would smell SO strong. It was bad. Went away and then today I drove the Edge for a couple of hours and at one point smelled it again, but it went away. So wondering if anyone has any thoughts on if it is an issue or if it could be related to some of the PTU and other issues that are discussed here. I dread facing the guys in the service department. Thanks.

I have the chrome clad 18" wheels. I am in the Chicago 'burbs. Not looking forward to the snow they say we are getting.

Well, I drove my Edge for the first time since Oct 21 yesterday. Wouldn't you know it had to snow yesterday, and snow more today and it is going to snow a lot more thru tonite. Ick. Anyway, I am pretty impressed with how it drives in the snow. When I drove thru piles left behind by the plows it did not move side to side at all, stayed arrow straight and stops great on wet and slippery surfaces. Only thing I noticed was when the wheels are turned it has less traction, so I need to slow down turning on snow. My Blazer was good in the snow, but I definitely think having a lower center of gravity helps driving, and my confidence a little.

Ok I'll bite. I personally like how it looks already. The open area in the front seems unfinished, looks like fangs. Also, very low to the ground so easy to damage. You did a good job with the photoshop, fun project. Not that it matters, but I think there is a function where you can 'copy' color, so you could make it match your Edge color. We should have a thread where we do silly things with photoshop.

I have an 08 and I got a letter also. What I took from it is that they do not want to deal with it until it breaks, in hopes of not many breaking.

Sounds like a trick they would play on a girl. I find it odd that it was SO worriesome to that guy. Last month I had my tires rotated for the first time and it immediately started pulling to the left really bad. Took it to another dealer and they had the nerve to tell me it was within Ford standards when I could barely keep it driving straight. So I guess the need is based on them selling something. And I understand your frustration. All of the flat tires I have had have been in bitter cold weather.

It is a considerable amount of tread, but couldn't they have put it on the back? That is an expensive flat tire.
