I wonder the same thing. I am in the road salt capital of the world I think. My wheels already have bubbles and imperfections, so if they go bad this winter going to buy new wheels, not these though. Keeping them clean prob the key.
-
So this thing would be underneath the dash above the pedals? I wanna check mine.
-
And the beanbag holder made for the Garmins is really nice. Fits perfect on the flat spot in the center of the top of the dashboard. No suction cups.

I find the only benefit I have from it is answering the phone. I cannot get it to dial anyone in my phone book, it does not understand what I say. Not sure why.

I love my Nuvi 260.

That is what happened to my old truck in December. I was pulling into a parking lot and it died. Fuel pumps don't break down slowly. In hindsight I had just an inkling of warning earlier in the trip, a hesitation that startled me but did not concern me, truck was 8 years old. It did all kinds of interesting things. I have to agree that if someone put something in there it would have taken out more than the fuel pump. I would argue that.

You have more sun than I do I guess. Living here not worth the tradeoff for less glare though. Do you sit straight up in your seat or do the lying back thing guys like to do?
-
I also have an 08 with the black dash and I get some reflection, not nearly as much though.

Those are very incriminating pictures. They need to make the dash very matte. The rest of us need a mod. Maybe some experimenting is in order. Is the Lincoln version the same?

The lamest Ford Edge Accessory I've Seen
igcitng replied to Lex Talionis's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
ABS lite so the ladies feel safe? Oh puh-leeeeeze. And I love how the fake sunroof gives you 'status'. What it will give you is a bald spot on your roof. The best I have actually seen is the sparkly rhinestone things that some people put on in the same place as the vents that say 20" or what ever size they are advertising their wheels to be. Or engine size. Or something. -
Loose cable on one of the terminals? Or maybe a wild animal chewed on the wiring harness while you were gone. My old truck has the wiring harness go bad and it presented itself early on with constant dead batteries. Most of the time I could get it to summons up enough to start, but it damaged the battery too, had to replace all of it.

What about using the back and forth button on the steering wheel?
-
Thank you so much for the explanation. :shades: I may try these. I remember when I bought it I looked at the knobs and thought how caveman they are considering what I see on other cars. And I did find the Ford ones using those links, had to go further than just the link. The place I got the bumper protector also has them.
-
It snaps over the one for the headlights too? That being the reason for needing a little glue?
-
Ok, I thought I had to get the Steeda logo, both links showed that logo. They are very pretty. So the old knobs just pop off? Pull straight out or is there a trick? Making sure because I really have no business trying to modify stuff unless it is fairly easy. Thanks!
-
Is that my only option? And thanks Lex.

No arguments at all Lex. Just discussion about possibilities. I know the picture sucks, it was in bright sun but does not show, but it shows what I see to the right and I described that I see the vents in the center. Do not see anything in front of me. I am thinking also that height has something to do with it also. I am 5'6" and barely see over the steering wheel. So height of the driver and the angle of the windshield could be why we all see different things? I really like my Edge, but this and some other design issues make you wonder if anyone field tested it before it went on the assembly line.
-
Does anyone know where to get cool knobs for the Edge? I checked some sites and did not find anything I could confidently decide would fit, and I have absolutely no working knowledge to do this. Specifically I am looking for something for the headlight dial. I cleaned it and the little picture rubbed halfway off. Now it looks old and used. Something shiny like the radio knobs. Since my bumper protector 'mod', need a new project. Just kidding. That's for you Lex. As always, appreciate the help guys.
-
I know this picture is lame, cell phone pic. But it shows the dash is not shiny. If you look to the right side you can see a little reflection. What I noticed driving right into the sun is that I see reflection where the vents are at the bottom edge of the windshiled and if I look to the right, about halfway up I see it from the dash, but not directly in front of me.
-
Mine had an agressive stance and excellent ride quality right from the dealer. It's an Edge. If you are driving in such a way that the nose dives, you need driving lessons.
-
Guessing you would have to disconnect it from the back of the radio. You may want to leave it, someone may want to use it someday. Would be a bummer to buy your car used down the road and have no antennae.
-
Mine are dull and seem to have a dark film on them. Guessing that polishing and waxing them would make it better, but they do take a beating every day. I remember a thread with this topic, someone was going to put in black ones. Not sure if that would look good or bad with the chrome grille? Guessing it would blend in with the greyish plastic parts down there?
-
Lex, that is a seriously shiny dashboard. I did not pay much attention to this topic until today, and just saw the picture. The shiny reflects more light back at the window creating more reflection. Unless somehow I have a different dash than you do, but mine is an '08 also. ?? I am going to try to get a good in the light pic of mine today if the sun comes back out.
-
That's the least you could do. :yup:
-
My dash has no shine whatsoever, so the only reflection I get is the vents at the edge of the window. I think the severe slant of the window has a lot to do with it. The lower part is very close to the dash, so a shiny dash will reflect halfway up or so.
