  1. I cant understand how they developed this vehicle in the first place with red turn signals, looks good. Can you tell me how you separated the brake and turn feed that comes from a single wire? I know I could take the brake feed from the centre brake but what about the turn signal and affects to bulb failure warning system?
  2. So, any information on how to separate the brake feed and turn feed from the single wire?
  3. I looked at this as an option for my 2008 which I have now brought back to Finland (I think its the only one here). I noticed that there is a curve at the bottom to fit the profile of the bumper and was not sure how it would look if I fit 2011 tail lights. I would be interested see the result of the 2011 lamps on a 2010. I still have red turn signals which were passed by vehicle inspection here as the recognise that its not an easy job. I did have to separate the front turn signal and parking lights (drilled and installed 5W bulbs in headlamps for parking lamps). Then had to have turn signals on the side of the vehicle (front wing or door mirror). I choose to install LED to door mirrors as small voltage drop does not affect the system. And finally stamp the VIN number into the chassis (under the hood). I looked at the tail lights but at present, there is one wire that feeds the brake and turn and I don't know how far I have to go to find where they first come together. Alternative would be to take the brake feed from the centre brake and take the turn signal from the front. Good luck. tail lights.bmp
  4. I believe they will fit but look at the curve shape of the new lens compared with the older one (shape to fit profile of rear bumper panel).
  5. I looked at this as an option for my Edge which I am now running in Europe but the shape of the light (curve) is different. Would be interested to know what the wiring mods are. I went to separate but one wire is the brake and turn signal so only option was to use the central brake light and feed the left and right and take turn signal feed from front . Inspection let it go with red turn signals so no problem in the end but I would like to change as red turn signals are not good.
  6. I just returned to Finland after a 3 year working trip in Canada and have brought back my 2008 Ford Edge Limited, not sold here and some changes needed: 1) Front turn signal and park light needed separating and park light needs to be white - Completed with small 5W bulbs in headlights as new park lights and turn signal lamps only operate as turn signals. 2) Turn signals required on side of car (either front fender near door or door mirror) - I found some LED turn signals that stick to door mirrors, wired to front turn signals and current draw is very low. 3) Day time running lights required on back and front - Taped auto light sensor and run with switch in this mode always. 4) Rear red fog light - Completed The final requirement is amber turn signals on rear which, I planned to do with LED turn signal kit as used on door mirrors but the problem is that the live wire for the brake light activation is the same wire for the turn signal function so its not possible to separate the function to allow the brake to remain red and the turn signal to be amber. Any ideas??????
  7. Sorry to change the subject but you mention that you imported the vehicle to Germany, I am looking to take my Ford Edge back to Finland after my 3 years working in Canada. I know that I have to change the rear lights, turn signals in reverse light and change to yellow bulbs and then fit new reverse and fog light to the rear and split front side light and turn signal. But I notice you have not added an extra turn signal to the front wing or door mirror, is it not required under EU rules to have side turn lamps? Have you made any engine calibration changes to get the most from running the higher octane fuel?
  8. I noticed the same thing on my vapour grey edge and was told the same line about metal and plastic. I am from the UK and have had many vehicles with matching paint on body and fenders and its always been a perfect match. What's the difference?
  9. Calm down boys! I would agree that with the current auto selection with no manual shift mode, there is no real point to display the selected position in the dash (other than nice to know) when its displayed on the shifter stick. But with the face lift 2011 model, there is a manual shift mode (some models) so knowing the gear you are in (1to 6) is a additional help to the rev counter when you want to manually shift up or down. Will help stop you from trying to find another gear when already in 6!
  10. Yes, I would also like to remove this stupid feature. Do they think that people are stupid enough to have there head in the way when its closing. Same goes for the windows, why is only the drivers window a one touch operation? In Europe, I had a Ford Mondeo with one touch on all four windows and pressure sensing so if anything is in the way (like your head!), it will go back down. Could also open and close all the windows from the ignition key button and this was not the top line model.
  11. For sure the interior of the current Edge is a little bland, will help to have inbuilt Nav screen but the drive and handling is very good for a vehicle and great in Canadian winter. As a matter of interest, what changes have you needed to make it legal in the UK as I am thinking to take mine back to Europe next year.
  12. I am looking to return to Europe with my Ford Edge next year, what modifications are required i.e. lights and rear brake lights and double as indicators.
  13. Same on mine and they have a new set waiting for me at the dealer, which I will pick up on Friday, already fitted with my winter tyres. Covered on warranty and new part since Sept 08. Hopefully the new wheel supplier has done a better job.
  14. I have had to replace bulbs on both sides now and I don't understand why they made it so difficult (can be hard to bull out straight and not scratch the f$%?*&" paint). In Europe we design them to be serviced from inside the trunk, just remove a panel (no tools necessary) and you can see the rear of the lamp "can be done on the side of a road without the need of any tools. This Edge is like cars in Europe were 20 years ago except much bigger!
  15. I had the same issue on my Edge, both rear doors and hood catch, repaired under warranty and so far OK. I moved here from Finland and it is no wonder you have so much rust with all the salt you use. We dont bother with salt, good set of winter tires with studs works and you always know what the road surface is like, wont be wet until spring!
