  1. They told you that losing control in a turn with an AWD vehicle is normal......all I can say is......WOW !
  2. PTU leaking on the exhaust.
  3. I wish I had done what herp did......sounds like a clean install. I was really weary of drilling holes on the fender lip because the space is very small. Whatever you do, use a center punch and you should be fine. They are chintzy looking and generic as they have like 15 holes on the flap to drill for other ford vehicles. Once on the vehicle they do look nice IMO. Definitely keep the rocks/debris off the side of the car.
  4. This issue is so strange. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the AWD system designed to put power to all 4 wheels up until 40 mph when it then switches to just powering the front wheels? I also believe that the clunk some feel while coasting on the highway and then tapping the gas is the AWD system engaging/disengaging.
  5. I ran a K&N on my mustang for years and I religiously changed my oil full synthetic @ 3,000 miles and always wondered why my oil was so black at every change. Until I read the BITOG article. If you hold a freshly cleaned and oiled K&N filter up to the sun, you can actually see pinholes of bright sunlight.....you can imagine how much dirt that is letting into the engine and contaminating the oil. Yes, they outflow any filter on the market because it's like running no filter at all. I run the amsoil filter in my Edge which is good for 4 years.....which I clean with compressed air at every oil change.....a whole hell of a lot easier than cleaning an oiled bup filter, waiting for it to completely dry and then having to oil the filter from a spray can hoping that I don't overdo it and ruin my mass air meter when it sucks in some oil and coats the resistors on the maf sensor.
  6. I have 50,000 miles on the stock michelin lattitudes and my AWD edge does nothing like your describing. There is definitely something wrong with the AWD system but my money would be on the RSC (roll stability control). Not working properly. Good luck having the dealer do anything to remedy this issue.
  7. It sure beats the hell out of a minivan !
  8. I think it might be the light from your garage door opener keeping the lights from triggering. When I drive into a tunnel, they do come on within 2 seconds.
  9. If you are not comfortable in your driving position, then do not buy this vehicle. Being comfortable while driving is the most important aspect in purchasing a new vehicle.
  10. I also had the cam shaft position sensor replaced. I wouldn't rule out both bearings going bad. I just got my Edge back and they replaced the hub assembly part # 7T4Z*1104*C and the link part # 9T4Z*5A972*D. They also did a 4 wheel alignment after the parts were installed. This was all covered under warranty.
  11. It specifically states in the glove box warranty manual that front and rear bearings are covered under the 5 year 60,000 warranty. I don't know the page number as the car is actually at ford as I type this.
  12. you certainly fall into the category of having this repaired under warranty. My service advisor was just going to replace the bearing meaning that the bearing would go out again later. I referenced the TSB # and service advisor didn't want to listen. I had to make it seem that it was his idea to get him to actually search the oasis database. Just reference the TSB # and make sure the knuckle or support bracket as some call it gets replaced along with the new hub assembly.
  13. Update......It seems that Ford wants to replace the trailing arm as well. The trailing arm, trailing arm knuckle and hub assembly are all being replaced. Thank God this is covered under warranty because the price tag is at $1200 now !
  14. I try to drive as fast as I can in the snow as the Edge will allow. I will sometimes see lights in the rearview coming up on me fast and then they blow by me..........the three times this happened, they were all WRX's. The Edge IMHO is great in the snow, but Subaru invented AWD and it comes standard on every car they build.
  15. The wheel bearings are covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles.
  16. I had the right rear wheel bearing go out @ 16,900 and the hub assembly was replaced at that time with no issues. Here we are @ 48,000 and the right rear wheel bearing is going bad again. Did some research and found a TSB for this issue because I suspected something else was causing this bearing failure. The TSB is 10-2-9 and ford states to have the trailing arm knuckles replaced along with the hub assembly. The techs should have inspected the wear pattern on the first trashed bearing and determined that something caused the wear pattern on the bearing races. It was like pulling teeth getting the service advisor to acknowledge the TSB and to get the correct parts ordered. This TSB applies to Edges built before mid april of 2008.....but there are reports of bad wheel bearings on 2007-2010. There was an apparent badly machined support knuckles which is where the hub assembly bolts to, that is causing the bearing to sit at an angle causing it to wear out. This issue can apparently cause uneven tire wear or cupping of the tires. Hope this helps all who have this issue. BTW, Ford said that this job would cost $600 to replace those parts on one side. I also asked that since this is a TSB and this has been replaced for a second time, what would happen if the bearing goes again when the warranty runs out and he said. "Your on your own at that point"
  17. Good luck having the service tech "hear" the beeping. "could not duplicate issue"
  18. The 18" wheels will make the ride noticeably smoother and less jarring........she will be quite pleased.

    Tranny

You need a simple pcm upgrade to reprogram the trans. Take it to another dealer to have it repaired.
  20. 5W-30 will be heavier and thicker at operating temp than 5W-20.......this will decrease mpg's and possibly void your warranty...I suggest you go back to "Big O" and have them drain it and put the right oil in your car !
  21. This happened to me one time in the three years we owned the car. I know if you hit the button to close it, and you put the car in drive before it fully closes, it will pop back open.
  22. This is such a great feature.......I laugh when I see others dropping sheet all over the ground trying to open the liftgate manually......If you have the money, anything can be added to your vehicle. I would suggest going to different dealers and getting pricing on having this installed.....you would be surprised at the price differences.
